The Licensing Awards attracted a phenomenal number of entries and nominations this year across all the categories.

Over 200 retail buyers formed the judging panel offering their expert input across the product categories. These included Asda, B&M, Blue Diamond Group, Character.com, Clarks, The Entertainer, FatFace, Forbidden Planet, Games Workshop, Home Bargains, John Lewis & Partners, M&Co, Marks & Spencer, Matalan, Merlin Entertainments, Moonpig, Morrisons, Primark, Sainsbury’s, Selfridges, Tesco, Toymaster, among many others. Various validation panels have convened to discuss, debate and validate all the other categories to arrive at the worthy finalists.

Nickelodeon Shortlisted for a Raft of Awards in the 2021 Kidscreen Awards

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon has received a raft of nominations in the 2021 Kidscreen Awards!


In the "Preschool Programming" category, Blue’s Clues & You! (9 Story Media Group, Brown Bag Films) and Science Saves the Day: PAW Patrol (Nickelodeon, Noggin) have been nominated for the "Best Mixed-Media Series" award, whilst Monster Measurements (Nickelodeon, Noggin) and Winner at Dinner (Nickelodeon, Noggin) have been nominated for "Best Short Film". Additionally, Hey Duggee (Studio AKA, BBC Studios, BBC Children’s), which airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. has been nominated for "Best Animated Series".

In the "Kids Programming" category, Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival (Ace Entertainment, Nickelodeon) has received a nomination for "Best Live-Action Series".

In the "Tweens/Teens Programming" categories, AwesomenessTV's Trinkets (Netflix, AwesomenessTV) has been nominated for "Best Live-Action Series", and Find Me In Paris Season Three (Cottonwood Media, ZDF Enterprises, Opรฉra National de Paris), currently airing on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, has been nominated for the "Best Inclusivity" award.

In the "Broadcasting: Digital - Preschool" category, Blue’s Clues & You: Time for School (Nickelodeon Games) has been nominated for the "Best Game App—Branded" award, whilst Nick Jr. favorite Canticos has received two nominations: "Best Learning App—Branded" for Canticos Bilingual Preschool (Encantos Media Studios) and "Best Web/App Series—Branded" for Canticos Volume Three (Encantos Media Studios)

Winners will be announced at a special online gala awards ceremony to be held during Kidscreen Summit Virtual on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

Shortlisted entries in the Programming categories will be reviewed and assessed by a fresh panel of judges, including Layla Lewis (Nickelodeon), Eryk Casamiro (Nickelodeon), Adina Pitt (Cartoon Network), Cheryl Taylor (BBC Children’s), Heather Tilert (Netflix),  Nikki Reed (HBO Max), Linda Simensky (PBS KIDS), Tara Sorensen (Apple), Tiphaine de Raguenel (France Tรฉlรฉvisions), Aram Yacoubian (Netflix), Libby Doherty (ABC) and Sarah Muller (BBC Children’s).

Best inclusivity entries were reviewed and assessed by Kidscreen's inaugural jury, which includes David Levine (content strategist), Theresa Helmer (Disney Channels), Taylor K. Shaw (Black Women Animate), Shadi Petosky (creator, Danger & Eggs), Matt Kaplowitz (Bridge Multimedia), Kevin Clark (Netflix), Carl Reed (Lion Forge Animation), Shabnam Rezaei (Big Bad Boo Studios) and Kay Benbow (media consultant).

Shortlisted entries in the Digital categories will be judged by Sara DeWitt (PBS KIDS), James Stephenson (Wonderstorm), Dan Efergan (Aardman Animations), Jenny Gioia (Sesame Workshop), Ellen Solberg (Hopster), Justin Hsu (MarcoPolo Learning), Vikrant Mathur (Future Today), Loretta Todd (IM4 VR Lab), Estelle Lloyd (Azoomee) and Matthew Evans (Apple).

Nickelodeon Shortlisted for a Raft of Awards in the 2020 Kidscreen Awards [Update: Winners Announced]!

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon, along with a raft of properties that feature on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., have been nominated for a wide selection of awards in the 2020 Kidscreen Awards!

Update (2/12/2020) - Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Canticos, Cleo & Cuquin, Hey Duggee, Just Add Magic and Kung-Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny were among the big winners at the 2020 Kidscreen Awards!


Winners of the 2020 Kidscreen Awards will be announced at a special presentation event to be held during Kidscreen Summit in Miami on Tuesday, February 11. New categories this year include Best Short Film, Best Kids-Only Streaming Service and Best YouTube Channel.

'SpongeBob SquarePants', 'Peppa Pig', 'Digby Dragon' and More Receive Nominations in the 2019 British Academy Children's Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon's hit original animated series (Nicktoon) SpongeBob SquarePants has been nominated in the best 'International Animation' series category of the 2019 BAFTA Children's Awards!


Additionally, Nick Jr. UK and Milkshake's hit animated series Digby Dragon, and the beloved animated preschool series Peppa Pig, which airs on Nick Jr. channels worldwide have also been nominated for awards in the 2019 BAFTA Children's Awards, which honour the very best in children’s media. The judging for the category took place at Arsenal’s Emirates stadium earlier this month. Over 4,000 licensed products were entered into the awards this year. Some 150 retail buyers judged the entries, individually selecting which five products they considered the best in each category.

'SpongeBob', 'Canticos', 'Hey Duggee' and 'Bureau of Magical Things' Win Big at 2019 Kidscreen Awards

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon won five awards in this year’s Kidscreen Awards, with the network's hit animated series SpongeBob SquarePants earning four of the awards!

Additionally, Studio AKA's Hey Duggee, which airs on Nick Jr. USA and Jonathan M. Shiff Productions' The Bureau of Magical Things, which airs on Nickelodeon channels globally also picked up awards at the Kidscreen Awards 2019!

Celebrating the year’s best work in kids production, broadcasting and digital media, the winners of the 2019 Kidscreen Awards were revealed during a prestigious ceremony hosted by actor and comedian Craig Lauzon on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, during the 2019 Kidscreen Summit, in Miami, Florida. The awards were exclusively sponsored by the Canada Media Fund.

Nickelodeon Leads Kidscreen Awards 2019 Finalists

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon is the top nominee for this year’s Kidscreen Awards, receiving 10 nods, followed by Netflix with six, and PBS KIDS and Sesame Workshop with five nominations apiece.

Every year, Kidscreen honors the best work in children’s television and digital media, and the 2019 Programming, Broadcasting and Digital category finalists will continue on to a final round of judging.

Winners will be announced at a special presentation event to be held during Kidscreen Summit in Miami on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. The host of this year’s ceremony is Craig Lauzon, a multiple Canadian Screen Award and Canadian Comedy Award nominee, as well as a cast member of CBC’s satirical sketch comedy show Royal Canadian Air Farce.

'SpongeBob SquarePants', 'Rise of the TMNT' and More Nominated in 46th Annual Annie Awards

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon's hit animated series SpongeBob SquarePants and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have received nominations in the 46th Annual Annie Awards, which recognizes the year’s best in the field of animation!

Estrella Miyakawa Capin, Christopher Hink, Bob Tomlin, and Rick Dominicus have been nominated in the "Outstanding Achievement for Editorial in an Animated Television / Broadcast Production" category in this years Annie Awards for their work on Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants.

Meanwhile, Nickelodeon's brand-new 2D-animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which debuted in September 2018, has garnered three nominations in the 2018 Annie Awards: The show has been nominated for "Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production For Children", with Jeffrey Lai and Kevin Molina-Ortiz also each earning a nomination for their work in the series, in the "Outstanding Achievement for Animated Effects in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production" and "Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Television / Broadcast Production" categories, respectively.

The winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Three Winsor McCay Award recipients have been selected by the ASIFA-Hollywood Board of Directors for their exemplary industry careers – Academy Award-winning director, animator and art director, Ralph Eggleston; Frank Braxton (posthumously), the first African-American animator, animation director and guild president; and casting director, voice director and voice actress Andrea Romano. The June Foray Award will be presented to veteran animator, Adam Burke (posthumously) for his significant and benevolent impact on the animation community. Ton Roosendaal, Dutch software developer and film producer, will accept the Ub Iwerks Award for Blender Open Source Animation Software; and a Certificate of Merit will be presented to dedicated ASIFA volunteer, Jason Jones.

ASIFA-Hollywood is the world’s first and foremost professional organization dedicated to promoting the Art of Animation and celebrating the people who create it. Today, ASIFA-Hollywood, the largest chapter of the international organization ASIFA, supports a range of animation activities and preservation efforts through its membership. Current initiatives include the Animation Archive, Animation Aid Foundation, animated film preservation, special events, classes and screenings.
