Greetings, Bikini Bottomites from the future!
I’m Ms. Mayor—president and founding member of the Bikini Bottom Historical Society. What you hold in your hands/tentacles/fins/flippers is the culmination of years of work that we, the BBHS, have worked toward: a culinary time capsule of all the tastes of Bikini Bottom.
Cooking and sharing meals are part of how a community comes together. It’s a way to connect to one another. Sure, everybody has to eat. But what we choose to eat, what brings us comfort, and what makes us smile say a lot about who we are.
That’s why we’re putting this cookbook together! We wanted to take a snapshot of what our fellow citizens of Bikini Bottom are eating right now and preserve those recipes to be immortalized throughout all of time and space, in perpetuity throughout the universe! That’s right, folks. This cookbook is a bona fide piece of Bikini Bottom history filled with recipes from our most notable (and in some cases, infamous) citizens and historical figures in the making, and it will live in the collection at the Historical Society for our great-great-greatgrandkids and other random strangers to enjoy forever.

Jarrett Melendez is a GLAAD Media Award– and Eisner Award–nominated comic and graphic novel writer, cookbook author, and food journalist who has written countless articles and developed hundreds of original recipes that have appeared on Kitchn, Bon Appetit, Epicurious, Saveur, and Food52. Of course, the cookbook finally reveals the top-secret Krabby Patty recipe. Readers are also given recipes for Krusty Krab’s hot Volcano sauce, Spicy Cheese Sauce, and Mr. Krab’s recognizable Tangy Sponge Sauce.
The recipes feature everything from classic Hot Cross Nuts and Canned Bread to treats like Sea Pickle Chips.
