Fortunately, you won’t be alone. Lean on your friends and fellow heroes on this journey and you may even save the world!

The Kickstarter for Avatar Legends: The RPG is live right now. Head over to our campaign page to pledge and see all the awesome things we have in store for you.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is expanding towards tabletop after a Kickstarter campaign funded a licensed RPG book in only 16 minutes. Besides getting fully funded at an impressive speed, the project already gathered more than one million dollars on the first day of its one-month-long crowdfunding campaign.

Developed by Magpie Games, the RPG project will allow players to fulfill their dream of exploring the Four Nations and bringing balance to the world, be they a bender or not. In addition, Avatar Legends will also give players the resources for making adventures set in different eras of the Avatar universe, such as Kyoshi’s Era or the middle of the Hundred Year War Era. The RPG universe will also feature some famous character as mentors to the player — and, yes, that includes Uncle Iroh.

As with any Kickstarter campaign, the project needed to reach minimum funding to see the light of day. Fortunately, Avatar Legends got the 50 thousand dollars required for the first print in mere 16 minutes, an impressive result by all metrics. However, fans of the animated universe keep contributing to the campaign, which already hauled more than 1.4 million dollars in a single day. Since the campaign will last for a whole month before reaching its end, Avatar Legends has plenty of time to finish with even more impressive numbers.

So far, there are still optional add-ons that Magpie Games will only produce if more funding is gathered. However, since the developer needs only 1.62 million dollars to unlock all stretch goals, it shouldn’t take more than two days for Avatar Legends to become the definitive RPG experience for fans of the universe.

Each $20 pledge ensures fans access to all books unlocked in the campaign in PDF format. Higher tiers also add printed books, unique dice sets, and dozens of other physical goodies. To get all possible physical rewards, fans need to pledge a total of $200 plus a shipping fee that varies according to where in the world you want your rewards to be delivered.

Avatar Legends will be available for players in January 2022.

Avatar: The Last Airbender experienced a boom in popularity last year during the pandemic when all three seasons became available to stream on Netflix starting May 15, 2020. It was this Netflix-created surge in Last Airbender interest that drove ViacomCBS and Nickelodeon to go all in on the franchise expansion and create Avatar Studios.

Avatar Legends Becomes the Biggest Ever Tabletop RPG on Kickstarter After Just a Few Days

$50,000 in 16 minutes, $4,000,000 in less than a week!

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game launched on Kickstarter on August 3 and has since become the highest earning tabletop RPG to launch on the platform after just a few days of being on the site.

The officially licensed tabletop RPG by Magpie Games, which is set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, went live on Kickstarter with a crowdfunding target of $50,000 on August 3. The game smashed through its initial target in just 16 minutes before raising over $1,000,000 in just its first day on the website.

Things have barely slowed down since – the tabletop RPG has now raised over $4,000,000, eclipsing the previously held Kickstarter record for a crowdfunded TTRPG by some margin. Matt Colville's Strongholds and Followers, an unofficial Dungeons & Dragons crowdfunded campaign, previously held the record for the highest crowded funded TTRPGwhen it raised $2.1 million in 30 days in 2018. Not only has Avatar Legends blown the previous record out of the water by comparison, it still has 24 days left of its campaign.

As previously reported by IGN, fans of the Avatar-based RPG have worked their way through a number of different stretch goals since fully funding the core game. Included within the game's surpassed stretch goals are a range of additional NPCs, a velvet dice bag, various physical playbooks, and more. Magpie Games added additional funding updates as recently as August 8 (from time of writing) and so it remains to be seen whether the company has an upper limit for stretch goals and, if so, what that limit is.

NOSTALGIC 'AVATAR LEGENDS' TRAILER TEASES A TABLETOP RPG THAT WANTS TO CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF THE SHOWS

The fans who love Avatar: The Last Airbender really love it, and now they're showing their love by giving the show a tabletop RPG. When developer Magpie Games launched a Kickstarter for Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game on Aug. 3, it only took 16 minutes for the game to surpass its initial $50,000 goal –– at the time of this writing, it's been pledged over $3.2 million.

Magpie's staff has spent the last year creating the game, which they hope will successfully translate the Nickelodeon series and its sequel, Legend of Korra, to the tabletop space. "It's a game for people of all ages," reads the Kickstarter, "who want to look at the world beyond the scope of the existing stories." Following suit from the franchise, Magpie promises that "balance" will be at the heart of the game, whether it's about the player's goals they set for themselves, or the balance of the world.

It even extends to the game's antagonists, who they say "are never simply monsters, never mere antagonists who must be struck down by blasts of fire; they are instead people with their own desires, personal struggles, and goals, no matter how misguided." The developers really want it to feel authentic, to the point their official trailer is narrated by Uncle Iroh himself, Greg Baldwin.

In capturing the spirit of Avatar and Korra, players can opt to be either a Bender from one of the Four Nations or Republic City, a Swordsman from the Southern Water Tribe, or a Republic City technologist. Using the Powered by the Apocalypse system that's used in other games such as Masks and Monster of the Week, the hope is that events can be resolved through moves and lead to organic storytelling. Think of it as improv, in a way, only instead of "yes, and," it's "when you X, Y happens."

Avatar Legends comes at a time when the RPG space has been blowing up, in part thanks to the pandemic. It also arrives amidst Nickelodeon's renewed interest in the franchise. With the formation of Avatar Studios still being fairly recent, and the universe not able to cover everything fans would like, the RPG can help fans feel more connected to the world than ever before, and make their own stories just as exciting as Aang's and Korra's.

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game is expected to launch in February 2022. Its Kickstarter will conclude Sept. 2.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ RPG Trailer Shows Players Can Create Their Own Legends

The game made for aspiring benders now has an official trailer.

On August 3rd, Magpie Games launched The Avatar Legends RPG Kickstarter to seek funding for this tabletop game and fan's excitement and eagerness to see this project come to life was palpable. In less than an hour, the game had surpassed its $50,000 goal. Only a few days later, the Kickstarter is at nearly $3,000,000. Today, on the Avatar: The Last Airbender YouTube channel, we were bestowed with an official trailer for Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game.

It is fair to say that this trailer vamps up the excitement surrounding this new Avatar RPG. This ambitious project lets players choose their own era, and who they would like to be within the Era of their choosing. As the trailer mentions, “the pursuit of balance is not for the Avatar alone." Players are able to be a bender, mastering one of the four elements, but they are also able to choose not to delve into any of these arts. Instead, they can choose to be a martial artist, a merchant, or technological craftsman, using their own unique gifts to navigate this universe and rising to meet their destiny while striving to keep the balance.

The Magpie Games design, production, and support staff have spent the past year working on this game, creating a system that will bring the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra to life. This will be a game for all ages, which is very reminiscent in its mechanics, like conditions and fatigue, as well as the inclusion of a Game Master and players, of iconic tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons.

The Avatar Legends Kickstarter will close on September 2, so you’re still in time to support the game and win a special reward like the Core Book, a Dice Pack, the Four Nations Map, Combat Action Deck, a Dice Bag, among others. The game is expected to be released sometime in February 2022. Check out the trailer for the role-playing game [above].

From Kotaku:

The Avatar Legends Board Game Has Broken A Kickstarter Record

Ever since Avatar: The Last Airbender finished its run on Nickelodeon fans have been clamouring for more. Nothing has made this clearer than the support the Avatar Legends tabletop game is receiving on Kickstarter.

The officially licensed roleplaying game from Magpie Games continues to smash its targets and has quickly become the highest-earning TTRPG to launch on Kickstarter.

Avatar Legends is set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Players take on roles as young heroes from the Four Nations who band together to make the world a better place.

There’s a much more in-depth explainer of what to expect from the game on its campaign page but it appears Avatar fans will not be disappointed.

The game launched on Kickstarter on August 3 with a crowdfunding goal of $US50,000.

It appears this goal was far too modest because the game blew past $50,000 in just 16 minutes.

The previous record for a tabletop roleplaying game on Kickstarter was held by Strongholds and Followers, an unofficial Dungeons & Dragons campaign. It raised US$2.1 million in 30 days, according to IGN.

At the time of writing, Avatar Legends‘ campaign sits at $AU6.7 million with 40,500 backers. This makes it 9,900% funded and it still has another three weeks to go.

It’s a monumental achievement and really goes to show how beloved the Avatar franchise is. We’ll just have to wait and see how high it flies.

There’s still time to contribute to this ever-growing number and there are some pretty decent perks on offer as well. Beautifully designed dice, hardcover books and a nice cloth map of the Four Nations are all swag you can gain when backing the game, which is expected in February 2022.

Avatar Legends ships all around the world, including Australia, so if you’re keen to contribute you won’t be hit by exorbitant shipping fees.

It’s not exactly the live-action Netflix series everyone’s been hanging out for but Avatar Legends should fill the void while we wait.
