BILLUND, DENMARK, 14 July 2026: In celebration of the inaugural SpongeBob Day and SpongeBob’s birthday in the animated series, today the LEGO Group unveils the LEGO^® Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom building set. In partnership with Paramount Products & Experiences, the set features iconic locations, fan-favourite characters and references to memorable storylines, the set is a playful tribute to the spirit and humour of Bikini Bottom.

With 1,794 pieces, the set includes Bikini Bottom’s most recognisable landmarks, including SpongeBob’s cheerful pineapple home, Squidward’s Easter Island-inspired house and Patrick’s famously ‘minimalist’ rock residence. A vibrant Jellyfish Fields scene completes the display, bringing to life the sun-soaked, slightly surreal undersea world that has entertained audiences for more than 25 years.

Behind each facade lies a treasure trove of details. Builders can take a Krabby Patty break in SpongeBob’s home, complete with a fully furnished living room and bedroom, explore Squidward’s carefully curated living space, or uncover the surprising interior beneath Patrick’s rock.

Fans can relive iconic moments with a cast of beloved characters including SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward recreated in Minifigure form, and brick-built characters Gary the Snail and DoodleBob for a touch of chaos. Packed with playful nods to classic moments from the series, builders will also discover hidden details, including the legendary boatmobile, Squidward’s clarinet (ready for another attempt at musical greatness) and a treasured portrait of Gary. The set invites fans to revisit a world where the ordinary is anything but.

LEGO SpongeBob Sets Could Possibly Be Making a Comeback After 13 Years

SpongeBob SquarePants-themed LEGO sets could be set to be making a comeback in 2026, according to a new fan theory citing some recently emerged circumstantial evidence. The speculation centers on a small but notable trail of Nickelodeon-related licensing developments, similar to patterns seen with several other popular IPs just ahead of their LEGO collaborations being confirmed.

SpongeBob already had an official LEGO theme, launched in 2006 through a partnership between Nickelodeon and the LEGO Group. The collaboration produced more than a dozen sets, with the final releases arriving in 2012 before being discontinued the following year. Since then, the SpongeBob license has changed hands multiple times in the brick-style toy market. Mega Bloks acquired the rights in 2014, releasing a line of construction toys, followed by Kawada in 2020, which used SpongeBob for Nanoblocks, its range of micro-building kits. In late 2023, AREA-X introduced its own SpongeBob line, launching 27 themed products over the next two years.

AREA-X has now announced that it's discontinuing all of its SpongeBob products at the end of 2025. This isn't a case of a line being retired by ending production, but products being actively delisted from all storefronts even if supplies still exist. Such a development suggests AREA-X's SpongeBob license may have expired, meaning the company no longer has the rights to use Nickelodeon's beloved franchise for commercial purposes. The newly confirmed product delistings are scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

The discontinuation of AREA-X’s SpongeBob SquarePants connecting block sets has prompted speculation that the iconic Nickelodeon franchise could soon return in LEGO form. As noted by Brick Fanatics, it is not uncommon for a LEGO competitor to lose a high-profile IP license shortly before that IP reappears under the LEGO brand. A similar pattern was observed earlier this year when Mattel's Mega brand announced it would stop selling its Pokemon products in December 2025, only for LEGO to announce its first-ever Pokemon collaboration a day later.

Since LEGO's discontinuation of its SpongeBob line, fans have been trying to bring the brand back to LEGO by creating fan sets using LEGO Ideas (aka Cuusoo).

Another circumstantial indicator supporting the LEGO SpongeBob comeback theory is the video game tie-in angle, centered on the new Fortnite crossover with SpongeBob. If the franchise were to reappear in LEGO form shortly afterward, it would mirror the pattern seen with The Simpsons, which received both a Fortnite collaboration and new LEGO sets in 2025. There's also the new SpongeBob movie, Search for SquarePants, which was released on Friday, December 19, further strengthening the possibility of additional licensed merchandise hitting the market in the near future.

Under the original partnership, LEGO released a raft of SpongeBob LEGO sets, including: Krusty Krab, Build-A-Bob, Adventures in Bikini Bottom, The Chum Bucket, Mrs. Puff's Boating School, The Bikini Bottom Express, Rocket Ride, SpongeBob’s Emergency, Krusty Krab Adventures, Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom, Heroic Heroes of the Deep,Glove World, The Flying Dutchman, and Bikini Bottom Undersea Party.

LEGO’s past SpongeBob SquarePants sets were primarily aimed at younger audiences, ages 5 to 7 and up. It is unclear whether that approach would continue if the franchise returns as a LEGO theme in the near future. Recent rumors about 18+ Pokemon LEGO sets suggest that as core audiences age, the Danish toymaker may increasingly explore adult-oriented builds.

As for AREA-X, the Chinese brand is still selling 18 SpongeBob products via its official website until December 30. Prices range from $19.50 for Rolling in Money (Mr. Krabs Version) to $154 for SpongeBob's Pineapple House. Each individual purchase qualifies for a mystery gift, valued at $9.90, as part of the retailer's 2025 holiday season promotion.

The LEGO Group Unveils Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles BrickHeadz

Fans ages 10 and up can build 3-inch-tall figures of Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, complete with their colorful eye masks and their initials on their belts.

Cowabunga, construction dudes! For the first time in more than a decade, The LEGO Group is launching a new building set featuring the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT).

The Heroes on a Half Shell will star in a quartet of LEGO BrickHeadz figures, one for each reptilian crimefighter. Marking the first use of the license since 2014, the 567-piece model depicts the four turtles: Leonardo (301), Raphael (302), Michelangelo (303) and Donatello (304). Each 3-inch-tall turtle figure also wields its signature weapon, including a brick-built katana, twin sai, nunchucks, and a bo staff. As a bodacious bonus, the set also features a mini pizza accessory, perfect for snacking in the sewers between battles.  

Each Turtles’ design is based on a project from across the franchise, such as Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other animated series, hence the different shades of green for each character - despite the BrickHeadz using classic outfits for the characters with the first letter of their name on their belts, where they were all the same shade of green. This is The ‘World of TMNT’ branding on the box suggests that these depictions of the characters are intended to be a blend of their past and more recent iterations.

The TMNT kit (40878) will hit LEGO Store shelves as early as April 1 for $39.99, for £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99.

Lego Duplo Peppa Pig Mobile App Available Now

StoryToys, The Lego Group and Hasbro have partnered to create the Lego Duplo Peppa Pig app for Peppa’s 20^th anniversary.

StoryToys has announced the arrival of the new Lego Duplo Peppa Pig app, with Peppa Pig and her friends and family making their way to the colourful world of Lego Duplo. Now available on the App Store and Google Play, the app is bursting with fun gameplay, building and creativity, just in time for Peppa’s 20^th Anniversary.

While little ones are busy splashing in virtual muddy puddles and giggling with Peppa, they’ll also be learning lots of new things. With the Lego Duplo Learning Through Play approach, kids will play and learn through an adventure that encourages imagination and exploration with the adorable characters of Peppa Pig.

Blending the worlds of Lego Duplo and Peppa Pig, this app offers a new digital experience. Little builders can interact with their favourite characters and locations in exciting new ways, creating endless fun and laughter. Each pack in the app is set in a different location from the familiar world of Peppa Pig. Play packs at launch include Garden Treehouse, Boat Trip and Peppa’s Birthday Party, all packed full of fun and learning.

In the Peppa’s Birthday Party pack, little builders join Peppa, George and her friends Suzy Sheep and Pedro Pony for an exciting birthday celebration at Peppa’s house. In the Garden Treehouse, Peppa and George have a fun-filled adventure exploring and playing outside in the garden. Fans can set sail with Peppa and Grandpa Pig on a maritime adventure visiting many islands in the Boat Trip pack.

New content will be regularly added to the app for ongoing fun and play.

Nickelodeon to Premiere 'Sing 2' on February 11

Nickelodeon will host the network premiere of the blockbuster movie Sing 2 (2011) on Sunday, February 11 at 4:00 p.m. (ET/PT)! It all leads up to Super Bowl LVIII From Bikini Bottom at 6:30 p.m. (ET)!

Illumination’s smash animated franchise returns with big dreams and spectacular hit songs as can-do koala Buster Moon and his all-star cast of animal performers prepare to launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet …in the glittering entertainment capital of the world. There’s just one hitch: They first have to persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star—played by legendary music icon Bono, making his animated film debut—to join them.

Buster (Oscar® winner Matthew McConaughey) and his cast have turned the New Moon Theater into a local hit, but Buster has his eyes on a bigger prize: Debuting a new show at the Crystal Tower Theater in glamorous Redshore City.

But with no connections, Buster and his cast—including harried mother pig Rosita (Oscar® winner Reese Witherspoon), rocker porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson), earnest gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton), shy elephant Meena (Tori Kelly) and, of course, porcine provocateur extraordinaire Gunter (Nick Kroll)—have to sneak their way into the world-famous Crystal Entertainment offices, run by a ruthless mogul wolf named Jimmy Crystal (Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale).

In a desperate attempt to get Mr. Crystal’s attention, Gunter spontaneously pitches an outrageous idea that Buster quickly runs with, promising that their new show will star lion rock legend Clay Calloway (Bono). Problem is, Buster has never met Clay, an artist who shut himself away from the world more than a decade ago after the loss of his wife and hasn’t been seen since.

As Gunter helps Buster dream up an out-of-this-world theatrical masterpiece, and the pressure (and sinister threats) from Mr. Crystal mount, Buster embarks on a quest to find Clay and persuade him to return to the stage. What begins as Buster’s dream of big-time success becomes an emotional reminder of the power of music to heal even the most broken heart.

Sing 2 is written and directed by acclaimed returning filmmaker Garth Jennings and features, in addition to Bono’s and Cannavale’s roles, new characters played by music superstars Pharrell Williams and Halsey, Black Panther’s Letitia Wright, and comedians Eric Andre and Chelsea Peretti.

Krusty Krab LEGO Ideas Set Reaches Review Stage

"Is this the Krusty Krab?" "No, it's a highly detailed replica of it!"

Ever wanted to bring the Krusty Krab from your TV and into your world? Well, you may soon be able to!

A talented LEGO set designer named Lanko has submitted a LEGO set based on the popular eating establishment where SpongeBob works in Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, which recently became part of the "10k Member Club", surpassing the 10,000 supporters requirement on LEGO Ideas to get the project through to the review stage of the initiative, where LEGO will now test the set, titled The Krusty Krab - SpongeBob SquarePants, and decide whether it'll become one of the next LEGO Ideas LEGO sets for fans to purchase.

Ahoy mateys!

Introducing The Krusty Krab! The famous restaurant from many people's beloved childhood show - SpongeBob SquarePants, first airing all the way back in 1999!

This idea features 6 minifigures (7 if you include Plankton) the building itself, the clamshell sign, an enter sign, the dumpster, and a boat mobile! Now - let's get into the details!

Minifigures -

Each minifigure has been updated with new colors and new prints, as well as some other changes!

• SpongeBob : I'm ready! This hard-working employee comes with his work hat and his trusty spatula! How else could he serve up delicious Krabby Patties? Comes updated with a brighter yellow color, and dark orange shorts, as well as back printing.
• Patrick : SpongeBob's best buddy and a regular patron of The Krusty Krab comes sporting the new "coral" color, as well as mid-legs to more accurately represent his height.
• Squidward : Sour Squidward has been updated with a brighter blue color, and a dark orange shirt. He comes with his work hat and his clarinet.
• Mr. Krabs : Arg arg arg! The restaurant wouldn't be complete without its money loving owner! His pants now have updated colors.
• Sandy : Yeehaw! Sandy's been updated to include her tail, and a flower on her dome. More accurate colors of her suit, as well as dual legs to show off her boots.
• Plankton: Aha! Scheming Plankton! He comes complete with a new face print and a dark green clip piece as his antennae to top him off.
• Fred: My leg! Now this is new! As a bonus Fred is included as a regular customer, using the fish head piece. Comes in a nice olive green.

The Extras -

• Clamshell sign: The iconic clamshell Krusty Krab sign comes complete with lush sealife below. I made sure this is structurally stable, as well as detailed. Comes with a printed panel piece for the logo.
• Dumpster: A handful of classic scenes came from this very dumpster, I've referenced one with a print of "Squidward Smells" on the front of the dumpster! Can be opened and closed, and comes with 3 dumpster bags - 2 inside and 1 outside.
• Enter sign: This needed sign serves as advertisement as well as directions!
• Boatmobile: Can't get around without this! Bikini Bottom's most popular form of transportation - a speed boat with wheels! Completed with a stick shift, steering wheel, yellow rotor at the rear and a flag at the front.
• Two Krabby Patties: The Krusty Krab's signature menu item! This idea includes two of them.

The Krusty Krab -

Here's the good bit! The front of the double door building has a hanging net showcasing nautical flags, as well as protruding nails from the many planks the restaurant is built up of. The front window has a Krabby Patty sign indicating that yes, they do sell Krabby Patties! The side arches are held together with tied net ropes. Around the back is a window to the kitchen, as well as a back door. On top is a smoke chimney and a weather vane… or an antenna? I'm not exactly sure what that is actually.

The build comes apart in 6 modular pieces for easier access! The front and back wall, front and back roof, the top roof and finally the interior roof. Now let's get to the rooms!

• Dining area : Decked out with 4 ship wheel tables, 2 barrel seats for each. Squidward's boat where he takes orders is also here, as well Mr. Krab's beloved cash register. Above Squidward is the "galley grub" menu, and an "order here" sign. Two mast pillars with hanging rope on either end for better structure. Above the double doors is the ship wheel clock. Also included is a trash can storing a Nasty Patty and Condiment Island, where you can top up on utensils, condiments, etc.

On top of the main rooms is what I call the interior roof, filled with storage clutter. Boxes, cans, flour bags, barrels, an anchor and the chimney pipe from the kitchen to the roof.

• Kitchen : This is where SpongeBob grills the Krabby Patties for the hungry customers! Included are the grill, the fryer, a table for the buns and a station for applying condiments. Above the condiment station are hanging pans and other kitchenware. There's a closet for all of SpongeBob's belongings, a barrel full of patties, a sink and a bucket to mop the floors. A life bouy is also hung on the wall above the sink.
• Mr. Krabs' office: Mr. Krabs' money counting quarters, complete with his treasure chest desk loaded with dollar bills and coins, Mr. Krabs' chair, a shelf and a window. Included is a seat for meetings with the boss, as well as a lantern hanging from the top masts. Let's not forget the all important safe for the Krabby Patty secret formula too!
• Bathroom: For all your hygienic needs! One stall is included, complete with a toilet, paper, and a flush. Mounted on the wall is a sink and mirror, and to the left of that is a locker for SpongeBob and Squidward.

To Conclude -

I strongly believe a return of LEGO SpongeBob would be much loved by many! This idea is aimed at all age ranges too, with both playability and aesthetics in mind! A nostalgic teen or adult could enjoy this just as much as a kid would.

This was very fun (and at times, challenging) to design, and I learnt a lot from my experience in setting everything up for this submission!

New Fan-Made 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' LEGO Ideas Set Smashes 10,000 Supporters Goal

Ever wanted to bring the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender into your world? Well, you may soon be able to!

Avatar: The Last Airbender has been enjoying a resurgence of popularity in recent months following Netflix re-adding Nickelodeon's beloved 15-year-old animated series to its programming library in the U.S. - where it quickly became the platform's number-one title, and even smashed the record for being on Netflix’s daily Top 10 lists the most amount of times in a row.

And now, fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender may soon be able to bring the world of the iconic series into the real world thanks to talented LEGO set designer!

Fan designer StudioTRico, who also runs the YouTube channel of the same name unveiled his latest project, a LEGO set inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, titled Avatar: The Last Airbender - YIP YIP!, in August 2020.

LEGO Ideas (formally Cuusoo) is a platform where fans can submit their own custom projects, and if a project gets 10,000 supporters - a target which the project smashed in under two weeks (!), making it the fifth fastest draft in the history of Ideas - it could become an actual LEGO set!

Now StudioTRico has reached it's goal of 10,000 supporters in just 86 days, it'll now be reviewed by LEGO to see if it can become an actual LEGO set!

The official description for the project is:

"Avatar: The Last Airbender is my favorite animated tv show of all time! With the recent resurgence of pop cultural relevance thanks to Netflix, old and new fans are falling in love with the show's amazing characters and world of bending all over again. It really goes beyond saying there is no better time for the return of Avatar in Lego.

With this set you can saddle up with Team Avatar on the back of Appa, the flying bison, and embark on the epic journey to master all four elements, confront the fire nation, and save the world.

I made this set with Lego fans of all ages in mind, providing a lot of uses for play and display. Not only can you show Appa off on his stand, but with a spin of the lever at the base you can capture the iconic imagery of Team Avatar soaring through the skies! Using an internal gear mechanism, Appa's tail will naturally wave up and down as you spin, making it appear like he's gliding through the clouds. You still have the option to take the big fuzzball off the stand and utilize his wide range of pose-ability and expressiveness for normal play. You'll have fun recreating memorable scenes and battles from the show, as well as creating some of your own with the additional mini-figures and features.

The characters included are:

- and Appa (of course!)

Other features include:

- A replaceable saddle (can seat up to six figures)

There is many ways this creation can evolve if LEGO chooses to adapt i, but for now I put a lot of work trying to make Appa very detailed and as close to mini-fig scale as possible. He has articulation in his legs, neck, mouth, ears, toes, and tail and is around 1 ft in length.

The set will also include a Fire Nation set of minifigs, including antagonists such as Ty Lee, Mai, and Princess Azula.

The number of bricks and minifigures used in the Avatar: The Last Airbender LEGO set is currently unknown, but it is thought that it'll use around 1600 bricks.

Avatar: The Last Airbender isn't new the the world of LEGO. Two Lego Avatar: The Last Airbender sets based on the Air Temple and Fire Nation Ship in the show were released in 2006, however, these were unfortunately short lived.

Earlier this summer, another fan took to LEGO Ideas with their own take on LEGO Avatar: The Last Airbender. That project too also broke the 10,000 supporters goal.

Created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and airing between 2005 and 2008, the critically-acclaimed Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in world people can manipulate the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, and they lived peacefully in different regions until one of the nations started a world war. One master who can manipulate all four elements, dubbed the "Avatar," had been able to prevent this war, but disappeared soon after. 100 years later, a new Avatar named Aang awakens and sets out on a journey to master all the elements in order to bring peace to the land once more by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

Fondly remembered for its likable characters and surprisingly deep themes of destiny, prejudice, and war, Avatar: The Last Airbender ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, spawning a number of tie-in comic books and even the four-season sequel series, The Legend Of Korra. A live-action Netflix adaptation was announced back in 2018, one that will hopefully avoid the mistakes that befell the ill-fated M. Night Shyamalan film of 2010, which notoriously mispronounced key characters’ names and white-washed the source material's ethnically diverse cast.
