Steve Burns From 'Blue's Clues' Wants to Know How You're Doing

Steve from Blue's Clues posted an almost entirely silent video that has 90s kids bawling

Steve Burns from 'Blue's Clues'

In the wake of the docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, kids who grew up watching Nickelodeon are reeling a bit. The documentary unveiled a alleged toxic culture of abuse and exploitation at the network, tainting 90s kids' childhood memories with disturbing behind-the-scenes details of some of their favorite shows.

But a beacon of light from Nickelodeon still shines in Steve from Blue's Clues. Steve Burns may have broken children's hearts when he left the show to go to college, but the beloved host has remained a wholesome icon for millennials and Gen Zers who watched him growing up.

In fact, Steve is still bringing comfort to millions, and his latest video on TikTok is a perfect example of how. In a one-minute TikTok, he says only a handful of words, but people are finding themselves tearing up if not outright bawling by the end of it.

What he does is actually very simple, yet the effect is profound. "Hey, just checking in," he says. "Tell me, what's goin' on?" And then he just looks and listens almost entirely in silence, occasionally nodding along. And if you actually go through the exercise of sharing what's going on with you, even just in your own mind, the compassionate listening he demonstrates feels surprisingly powerful.

If you didn't watch Blue's Clues, this may have felt weird or awkward, but Steve asking questions and then pausing for kids to answer is a hallmark of the show. The kids who grew up watching him are now in the Big Adult Things stage of life, navigating relationships, careers, finances, mental health challenges and more, and it can sometimes feel like too much. So similarly to Elmo's viral check-in on X, having a familiar and compassionate listening ear opened the floodgates.

"Not me crying the instant he asked," wrote one person.

"Not me sitting in bed at almost 3 a.m. in tears because Steve from Blue's Clues shows up on my fyp asking what's going on? The one thing we have left that is pure from our childhood," wrote another.

"I just cried for over 5 minutes straight," shared another. "I just realized no one has asked me how I'm doing in such a long time. I can't stop crying."

"I couldn't even get out a word all I did was cry, lol" shared another.

Many people shared that the Nickelodeon documentary had rocked their world and found comfort in Steve being Steve.

"After the Nickelodeon documentary, Steve, all I need is Blue's Clues to save whatever is left of this childhood I once had," wrote one commenter.

"Thank you for being one of the GOOD parts of Nickelodeon, Steve," wrote another.

"Steve checking up on the grown-up kids he left behind is another level of full circle moment," shared another.

"After the Nickelodeon thing we need our Steve now more than ever," agreed another.

And some commenters actually shared the things they are going through, showing why so many people need this kind of check-in:

"Life keeps handing me lemons and I'm not sure how many more I can turn into lemonade. I'm tired, Steve."

"Too much is happening all at once Steve, and idk if I'm getting through it but it's always good to hear from you."

"I lost my mom in January and I'm pregnant with my son…I'm lonely, Steve. I just miss my mom."

"I want to get sober but it's so hard. :("

"I could use a hug, honestly."

Hopefully, Steve's video helped some people realize they really do need someone to talk to so they can seek a therapeutic channel. Thank you, Steve, for giving so many grown-ups the cathartic childhood cry they desperately needed.

Drake Bell Says Nickelodeon Co-Star Josh Peck Has Reached Out Amid Abuse Allegations: “Take It A Little Easy On Him”

After Bell revealed his experience with Brian during his youth, many Nickelodeon fans took to social media to attack Josh. Although Josh and Brian have the same last name, they are unrelated.

Bell has now taken to TikTok to say Josh has reached out to him and asked fans not to be so harsh on his former co-star.

“I just want to clear something up. I’ve noticed a lot of comments on on some of Josh’s TikToks and some of his posts,” Bell said in the video. “I just want to let you guys know that this is really, you know, processing this and going through this is a really, emotional time and a lot of it’s very, very difficult. So not everything is put out to the public.”

He continued, “But I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me and it’s been very sensitive. But he has reached out to to talk with me and help me work through this. And has been really, really great. So just wanted to let you guys know that and to take it a little easy on it.”

Netflix Unveils New 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Poster. Teases New Trailer, Launches Show's Official TikTok

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender is only a few weeks away and a new poster has hit the web, with a new trailer on the way.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Hot off the heels with the success of the live-action One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho, Netflix is aiming to tackle the world of benders with Avatar: The Last Airbender this February. Tackling the early storylines of the beloved Nickelodeon franchise, many of the characters and locales have appeared ripped straight from the original animated series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender officially drops on Netflix on February 22, and to get fans hyped for their live-action take on the iconic animated series, the streaming service today (Jan. 22) unveiled the show's official poster and revealed that the full trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released on January 23!:

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' key art/poster

To get fans further excited for the new series, Netflix has also announced the launch of the show's official TikTok channel, @avatarnetflix!:

As bending fans know, Netflix's take on the beloved franchise isn't the first time that we've bore witness to a live-action take on Aang and the gang. M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender arrived in 2010 following the success of the original series, but many critics and fans alike felt it was unable to live up to the high standards set by Aang's original journey. With this new series, Netflix's live-action adaptation is set to release eight episodes on February 22nd of this year. Obviously, should the series become a success, there's plenty of source material for Netflix to adapt to warrant more seasons, especially if the streaming service decides to adapt the sequel series, The Legend of Korra.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series stars the main cast of Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. The series also stars Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh; Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran, the grandmother of Sokka and Katara; Arden Cho as June, a bounty hunter; Maria Zhang as Suki, a Kyoshi warrior; and Sebastien Amoruso as Jet, a rebel from the Earth Kingdom.

You can currently stream the original Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series with Netflix and Paramount+, the latter with a free trial at ParamountPlus.com.

While this February will see Aang back in the spotlight, Netflix won't be the only place that we are able to see the last airbender. In 2025, Avatar Studios is planning to release a new animated movie that will hit theaters, focusing on Aang and his friends as adults to mark the first part of a new trilogy.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will release its eight hourlong episodes on Netflix on Feb. 22, 2024.

“Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task,” reads the official logline. A teaser trailer for the series was released in November.

Albert Kim serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Goi and Jabbar Raisani both direct, and serve as executive producers alongside Rideback’s Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore. Other directors include co-executive producer Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.

To celebrate upcoming release of PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie in theaters in September as well as to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nickelodeon's beloved CG-animated preschool series, PAW Patrol, produced by Spin Master, TikTok has unveiled a brand new PAW Patrol AR filter, which allows your pets to be turned into characters from the iconic show!

You can turn your pet into an adorable animated Paw Patrol character with cute little accessories and costumes. There are no external app downloads required for the filter - all you need is the TikTok app and, of course, a pet. The filter is not limited to dogs and can also be used on cats - and even CatDogs!

How to apply the trending Paw Patrol filter

Your pet can also look like a Paw Patrol character using seven easy steps:

  • Step 1: Open up your TikTok account.
  • Step 2: Click on the Create option and choose Effects.
  • Step 3: Search for 'paw patrol' on the Effects page.
  • Step 4: The filter will appear as the top result. Click on it.
  • Step 5: You will now be redirected to the Create Page with the filter active.
  • Step 6: Record your pet with this effect.
  • Step 7: There will be a countdown for three seconds, after which your pet will look like an animated Paw Patrol character.

The filter not only animates your pet, but it also turns the background of the picture into an animated scene.

Social media went wild over the filter with everyone testing it out on their dogs and cats. Netizens believe that it makes their pets look extremely adorable, and they also appreciated the show's iconic theme song that blared triumphantly in the background:

Nickelodeon Denies Eye Roll Reaction to JoJo Siwa’s Coming Out

JoJo Siwa recently revealed how an unnamed employer "negatively" reacted after she came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Jan 2021. Here’s what she said.

JoJo Siwa is firing back at a past employer with eyebrow-raising comments.

The former Nickelodeon star recently slammed an unnamed company for its alleged response to her coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in January 2021.

"The company I work for told me they needed to have a meeting w/ me ASAP," the 19-year-old recalled in a March 22 TikTok video. "During this meeting, the PRESIDENT of the company negatively asked me 'What are you gonna tell your young demographic?' I took a second to process what I was just asked, and then, I replied…'the truth.'"

In the video, which features her dancing to Meghan Trainor's track "Mother," JoJo then shared the executive's alleged reaction to her candid response.

"I've never seen a man roll his eyes so far in the back of his head," she continued. "It was silent, so I started talking again. I said 'I'm not gonna hide who I am and who I love to anyone, ESPECIALLY to the next generation.' He didn't like that very much."

A Nickelodeon spokesperson told E! News in a statement that the incident did not take place at the company, which previously posted a message of support days after JoJo came out in 2021.

"We are unaware of what incident or meeting JoJo is referencing, but it certainly did not happen at Nickelodeon," the March 23 statement read. "We have valued and supported JoJo since day one of our relationship together and we still do today."

Nickelodeon also stated it has a PRIDE Capsule Collection with JoJo, which will retail in May with a portion of the proceeds going to GLSEN, an organization that aims to support LGBTQ youth in schools.

E! News has reached out to JoJo's rep for comment but hasn't heard back.

As for the Dance Moms alum, she said she doesn't have any regrets about living her life authentically. In fact, she noted that her journey has touched others who've related to her experience.

"Since I came out SO many adults say to me 'I wish I had someone like you when I was younger,'" JoJo continued, "which reminds me every time that I did the right thing and to never let ANYONE change who you are."

Even though JoJo did not explicitly name any particular company, she's previously been outspoken about her relationship with Nickelodeon. In April 2022, she revealed that despite being nominated for an award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, she was not invited to the event.

"A lot of you have been asking me why I'm not at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards tonight and the answer is very simple: I wasn't invited," she explained in a video at the time. "I'm not sure why, but I just didn't get an invite."

She also criticized Nickelodeon in 2021 for its alleged treatment of her D.R.E.A.M. The Tour, accusing the company of banning songs from the set list.

"My movie musical [The J Team] was just released (with 6 new original songs)," she tweeted September 2021. "Nickelodeon told me today that I'm not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show. These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair??? There is no reason that this music should not be included. Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it's not."

The superstar's recent words on TikTok comes as she celebrated the two-year anniversary of her coming out journey this past January, writing on Instagram that she was "SO proud of 17 year old JoJo" for staying true to herself.

"Now that the world gets to see this side of my life, it makes me really, really happy," she said in her message. "I've been happy in this land for a minute now. And now though that I just get to share that with the world, it's awesome."

'Zoey 101' Actor Posts Shady Video In Response To Sequel Movie Announcement

Former Zoey 101 star Paul Butcher threw shade at Paramount+'s newly announced Zoey 102 sequel film and at his former TV sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.

Paul Butcher has made his feelings about the Zoey 101 sequel, Zoey 102, very clear in a new video in which he throws shade at the film using an iconic The Devil Wears Prada scene.

Zoey 101 first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for 4 seasons before concluding in 2008. The coming-of-age series follows the adventures of Zoey Brooks (Jamie Lynn Spears) and her friend group as they navigate their teen years while attending a boarding school. On January 12, it was confirmed that Paramount+ is developing a sequel film titled Zoey 102 that will see the return of some of the original cast members. The film will premiere sometime in 2023 and be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.

Butcher took to TikTok to express his feelings about the announcement of the sequel and threw shade at Zoey 101 and Spears in the process.

In the video, he participated in The Devil Wears Prada TikTok trend where users lip sync the scene where Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) says, "What if I don't want to live the way you live," and Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) responds, "Oh don't be ridiculous Andrea, everyone wants this." However, Butcher made a few adjustments to the trend, so it was insinuating the world doesn't want a Zoey 101 reboot, but Spears is ignoring that detail. The video follows Butcher previously slating spears in August last year for hosting The Follow Me (Zoey 101) Experience - The Legacy Continues fan event October 2020.

A few original Zoey 101 stars have already signed onto return for Zoey 102. Spears will be returning to reprise her lead role as Zoey, as well as to serve as executive producer on the film's set. Sean Flynn will also return to portray Chase Matthews, Zoey's main love interest, while Erin Sanders will be back as Zoey's best friend, Quinn. Matthew Underwood is also slated to return as Logan Reese. Additionally, recurring cast members Christopher Massey, Abby Wilde, and Jack Salvatore will reprise their roles as Michael Barret, Stacey Dillsen, and Mark Del Figgalo, respectively. Meanwhile, Butcher will, obviously, be in the group of cast members who will not return. Austin Butler, who has attained high fame since appearing in Zoey 101 season 4, will also not be returning. Victoria Justice (Victorious) and Alexa Nikolas are two other notable cast members who will not return for the sequel.

Viral TikTok Sees Parent Teach Child About Famous Movies Using ‘PAW Patrol’ Characters

Introducing children to classic films can be tough, but one parent has found a creative way to start their kid on the path to becoming a true movie expert. Their solution? Change all the characters and settings to make them fit into the PAW Patrol universe.

Credits: Fox, Paramount

TikTok user topherharless’ video of him doing this recently viral and has now received over 1.4 million views over six days. The TikTok sees him retelling the story of James Cameron’s Titanic, though with the characters changed to the PAW Patrol crew and the story slightly changed to make it age-appropriate for kids.

Turns out kids love hearing a canine-focused version of the most famous maritime disaster in history, despite constantly asking what happened to Chase (aka Jack).

There’s A Seriously Dark New SpongeBob Theory That Will Ruin All Childhood Memories

There’s a new seriously dark SpongeBob SquarePants theory that will ruin all memories of your childhood

Sorry to do this to you, SpongeBob fans, but there’s a downright bone-chilling new theory about the show that’s doing the internet rounds, and it’s shed a cannibalistic new light on the residents of Bikini Bottom.

According to a TikToker with the snazzy handle Area 51 Janitor, it’s quite likely that those who call the underwater city home have no qualms eating their own pets.

Area 51 Janitor pointed out that although some fish in SpongeBob SquarePants act as humans and can walk, talk and think for themselves, other fish don’t have those capabilities. They’re subservient to the ‘human fish’ and walk around on leads, much like our beloved pooches do here on planet earth. Watch the explainer below:

New Internet Trend Suggests That Dora the Explorer Has Died (She Hasn't)

"Oh my God... The internet was a mistake." - Sean Diaz, 'Life is Strange 2' - Part 3

A new trend called "How did Dora the Explorer die?" has taken traction on TikTok over the last few days. In the trend, TikTok users are asked to Google "How did Dora die" and react to the answer.

Mostly, it is people blind reacting to the question. Given that Dora has been a part of so many people’s childhood, the answers are leaving people speechless.

What is interesting is that people have been getting different answers to the same question. For instance, one answer that is commonly found by people is that Dora had died after she drowned. Meanwhile, another popular answer is she was hit by a lightning bolt.

DID DORA REALLY DIE?

No, Dora never died on the show. In the end, Dora finally manages to reach the destination with the help of Boots the Monkey and her trusty Backpack and Map.

In the end, Dora and Boots sing their famous song: “We did it” and went on to thank the viewers who had been watching the episode. While the show had a happy ending, there are sites that have given a creepy ending to the story.

However, those are not true. In the series, Dora does not die and has a happy ending by finally accomplishing her mission.

IS THE SHOW STILL GOING ON?

Yes and no. The original series has completed its run, however, Nickelodeon and Paramount+ announced earlier this year that they are currently making two brand new Dora the Explorer series: a CG-animated preschool series and a live-action series for older viewers. The former is slated to premiere in 2023 on the streaming service. The news follows Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures releasing the live-action theatrical Dora and the Lost City of Gold in 2019.
