The ABC of kids TV: Sky adding thousands of episodes of kids TV to on demand service

Sky, the UK and Ireland's biggest connected TV platform, today announced a huge expansion of the kids shows available in its ever-growing on demand library. From Adventure Time to Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom and iCarly, Sky will offer plenty more kids TV on demand – with the number of episodes of family favourites increasing from 700 to around 4,000 over the coming months.

The ambitious changes mean that Sky's on demand service will be home to more episodes of the most-watched kids' shows than any other provider – all ready to watch from one dedicated section on the Sky+ homepage for the first time.

Connected customers will be able to watch previous series of The Octonauts exclusively on demand plus there will be even more episodes of popular series like SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Horrible Histories and Ben 10.

The 600% increase in programming follows a number of new deals signed with rights holders including Viacom and Turner that form part of a multi-million pound commitment to making Sky a leading destination for kids TV on demand.

And millions more customers will be able to take advantage of the huge increase in shows, with kids TV on demand available at no extra cost to customers with the Variety and Family bundles.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky's Brand Director of TV Products, said: "I know from my own kids that they just want to watch their favourite TV characters including Ben and Dora whenever they can. And parents want the convenience of a quick and simple way to access lots of episodes all in one place. That's why we're massively expanding the variety and number of shows available on demand – and putting them front and centre of the Sky+ TV Guide. For our customers it means a huge library of kids shows, all there at the touch of a button."

Sky customers will be able to quickly access this huge library of on demand kids TV straight from the Sky+ homepage as part of the latest update to customers' Sky+HD boxes rolling out from this week. A new tile will open up a one-stop-shop of all the kids shows and movies available on demand, all kids TV recordings, plus a quick view of what's on now on linear channels like CBeebies and Nick Jr.

Sky recently announced that almost 7 million customers in Britain and Ireland have connected to its on demand services. Downloads of on demand shows and movies hit over 300 million in the last three months, up by more than 60% year on year.

Notes to the editor

* Sky's on demand services are available at no extra charge to all customers who have connected their Sky+HD box to their broadband connection. Content available depends on a customer's subscription. Kids TV on demand will be available at no extra cost to all customers with the Variety Bundle, from £30/month or above (formerly only available to customers taking the Family Bundle).

* The software update is rolling out to customers and will be available to over 8.5 million homes with compatible Sky+HD boxes by the end of June this year. To make the most of the changes, Sky customers should connect their Sky+HD box to their home broadband. For further information click here.

Nickelodeon Germany And SEA LIFE Berlin Celebrate World Turtle Day With The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland) has announced the Turtley Awesome TMNT News in the following press release, from Nick Germany's "Nick Pressecenter", that Nickelodeon has teamed up with SEA LIFE Berlin to celebrate World Turtle Day with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Saturday 23rd May 2015!

As part of World Turtle Day and SEA LIFE Berlin's new „Abenteuer Schildkröte“ exhibition, SEA LIFE and Nickelodeon have been asking fans to choose the names of SEA LIFE Berlin's four new species of Turtles - a Mata mata, a Apalone spinifera, a Graptemys pseudogeographica, and a Chelodina rugosa - in which fans have the opportunity to vote for which species they think most suits the names Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo at!

After all the votes have been counted, SEA LIFE Berlin will unveil the results of SEA LIFE and Nick's special poll and will name each Turtle during a festive naming ceremony on Saturday 23rd May 2015!

In June 2015, Nickelodeon Germany will be putting pedal to the metal by sending the Turtles' ultimate fighting vehicle, The Shellraiser, on a massive tour through Germany! Fans can visit the Turtles-Mobile as it makes stops at selected Toys "R" Us stores around Germany, which will also offer visitors numerous attractions! In consumer products, Nickelodeon has expanded their "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" toy range with new products and product enhancements. New additions include new action figures, the Turtles' submarine and High Flyin Blimp. Also new on the market: the Turtles Hot Rod and real walkie talkies with which children can communicate even at long distance from each other!

The second half of 2015 will see the launch of brand-new TMNT products from the Half Shell Heroes toy line. The product line, which has been specially designed for preschoolers, guarantees full Ninja Power for the youngest Turtles fans and serves as an ideal introduction to the world of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"!

Nickelodeon und Sealife Berlin feiern Weltschildkröten-Tag am 23. Mai 2015 // TMNT Shellraiser-Truck ab Juni auf Deutschland-Tour vor Toys’R’Us Märkten // Neue TMNT Produkte und Vor

Berlin, 21. Mai 2015 – Am 23. Mai ist Weltschildkröten-Tag und Nickelodeon feiert mit seinen hauseigenen Exemplaren, den Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ein gebührendes Fest. In Kooperation mit Sealife Berlin wird es am Samstag, den 23. Mai eine besondere Tauf-Aktion geben.

Im Rahmen der einjährigen Sonderausstellung „Abenteuer Schildkröte“ stellt Sealife vier besondere Schildkröten-Spezies aus. Nickelodeons mutierte, Pizza liebende Kröten, ebenfalls vier an der Zahl, stehen als Namensvetter bereit. In den Wochen vor dem Weltschildkröten-Tag am 23. Mai hatten daher alle Besucher des Sealife in Berlin sowie die Nickelodeon Zuschauer die Möglichkeit abzustimmen, welche der vier ausgestellten Schildkröten, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael oder Michelangelo heißen soll. Während einer festlichen Zeremonie werden am 23. Mai die Namen vergeben.

Im Juni schickt der Kindersender die Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles dann in ihrem legendären Shellraiser Truck auf große Deutschland-Tour. Vor ausgewählten Toys’R’Us Stores wird das Turtles-Mobil Halt machen und den Besuchern zahlreiche Attraktionen bieten.

Auch im Bereich Consumer Products, gibt es dieses Jahr wieder Neuheiten und Produkt-Erweiterungen. Neu sind unter anderem die Ninja-Action-Figuren, das Turtles U-Boot und der High Flying‘ Blimp, ein bis zu 75 Zentimeter aufblasbarer Zeppelin von Stadlbauer. Per Knopfdruck seilen sich die Turtles ab, um in den Kampf gegen das Verbrechen einzugreifen. Ebenfalls neu auf dem Markt: der Turtles Hot Rod und echte Walkie Talkies, mit denen Kinder ab vier Jahren auch auf weite Distanz miteinander kommunizieren können.

In der zweiten Jahreshälfte launcht Stadlbauer die brandneuen Produkte aus der Half Shell Heroes-Serie für Kinder im Alter von zwei bis vier Jahren. Die Produktserie, die speziell für Vorschulkinder designt wurde, garantiert die volle Ninja-Power auch für die jüngsten Turtles-Fans und dient als idealer Einstieg in die Welt der Teenange Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Aktuell zeigt Nickelodeon die dritte Staffel des Animations-Serien-Hits Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; immer sonntags um 9:00 Uhr. Am 30. Mai läuft das Halbstaffel-Finale mit einer Doppelfolge, ebenfalls ab 9:00 Uhr.
