Viacom Velocity Bolsters Its Los Angeles Operations with a Dedicated Movie Studio Team

Viacom Velocity, Viacom's (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) integrated marketing and creative content division, has today announced in a press release a dedicated movie studio group in Los Angeles. This newly merged West Coast group is being created to meet movie studios' ever-increasing demand for Velocity's custom branded content campaigns. The Los Angeles team will be led jointly by Chris Lenz, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Creative and Production, and Danielle Della Corna-Kupchak, SVP Integrated Marketing. Lenz reports to Niels Schuurmans, Executive Vice President (EVP) of Creative, Viacom Velocity, and Della Corna-Kupchak reports to Dario Spina, EVP of Integrated Marketing, Viacom Velocity.


"Viacom Velocity has developed trusted collaborations with movie studios in part because of our proven success delivering tailored creative campaigns that redefine marketing and demand the attention of targeted audiences that live uniquely throughout Viacom's brands," said Schuurmans. "The other part of the equation is our team of highly regarded talent who know how to listen, partner and deliver. Moving Chris embeds an incredible creative leader in the studios' backyard. The combined group is comprised of 25 writers, producers, editors, designers, account managers and directors. The team's work runs across MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, CMT, Spike, TV Land, and Logo.

Lenz along with several members of his team are relocating to Velocity's Los Angeles office from the New York office. He has been with Velocity New York since 2013. Prior to that, Lenz - an award winning producer and creative director with more than 20 years of experience - was an Executive Producer at BBDO, a Senior Vice President of video and content at Sony Music Entertainment, and Vice President (VP) of production at Grey Worldwide.

Danielle Della Corna-Kupchak will continue to spearhead branded marketing, social programming and content for Velocity's movie studio business in Los Angeles, as she has done since 2010. She and her team have been driving unique award winning campaigns across multiple brands for all studio partners.

Viacom Velocity, which is part of the Marketing & Partner Solutions division (formerly Ad Sales) led by Jeff Lucas, is involved in 85% of all marketing campaigns at Viacom. Velocity has grown from 30 to 230 people in just three years.

Nickelodeon UK Job Opportunity: Associate Producer (FTC And Permanent)

Do you have a passion for Kids TV and want to create promos for Nickelodeon UK's bouquet of channels? Do you have solid experience in Adobe and Final Cut Pro? If so, Nickelodeon UK, the number one commercial kids TV network in the UK, has the perfect job opportunity for you!


Nickelodeon are looking for a new associate producer to create engaging campaigns for Nickelodeon brands which are true to the brand architecture, whilst representing the demographic and adhering to budgets set.

The successful applicant will create campaigns that inspire Nickelodeon's audience, motivate them to watch and love the channel. Ensuring each campaign delivers on their goal of either ratings, app purchase/download, web-traffic, brand measures or revenue.

The Nickelodeon creative services department is responsible for the channel's on-air promotions, presentation and design, as well as the creation of marketing, client advertisements, sales tapes and cross channel promotions, whilst ensuring all campaigns are creatively aligned across digital and print. The Creative services department must ensure that Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and Nick Jr. deliver on their individual brand promises, while driving ratings and brand affinity.

Key Responsibilities

- Creating promos for the channels, using Final Cut Pro / Adobe Premiere, from initial concept, cutting, directing graphics / audio and voice over sessions to final delivery of versioned promos

- Utilise International and US assets to make sure all re-versioned promos fit the specific channel brand architecture and tone of voice

- Liaise with marketing, digital and programming to make sure all promotional campaigns are creatively aligned

- Working closely with the marketing team, oversee all creative aspects of above the lines promotional campaigns ensuring consistency across on air, digital and print

- Ensuring the accuracy of information delivered in promos to air

- Assist freelancers with their projects / guiding through the versioning process

- Source music and liaise with licencing for clearance and reporting

- Archive old projects on a job-by-job basis, ensuring all GFX, edits and OMF's are easily sourced when needed

- Ensure the delivery of all given projects are on time and in budget

Role-Specific Skills/Attributes

- Solid knowledge of Final Cut Pro & Adobe Premiere (self operating) with an understanding of 3D/2D animation and graphic design

- Directing skills

- Good scriptwriting skills and knowledge of post-production, audio, VO and graphics

- A good understanding of the post-production environment

- Ability to make funny, entertaining promos for a discerning and demanding audience

- Currently working in a similar role within a TV environment

- Previous Final Cut or Adobe Premiere editing experience

- Good team player

- Great command of English language

Nickelodeon USA Adds "Pocoyo Planet", "Gullah Gullah Island" Season 3 To Noggin App

Noggin, Nickelodeon's mobile subscription service for preschoolers, has announced the exciting news in a post on its official Support Blog that it has just added Pocoyo Planet to its line-up of hit preschool shows!


In Pocoyo Planet, kids can spend more time with Pocoyo and his pals, Pato the Duck and Elly the Elephant, as they go on their everyday adventures - from diving underwater, sky-rocketing to space, and practising their detective skills! Plus, each 30-minute episode teaches kids basic vocabulary and important pre-kindergarten skills.


Additionally, Noggin also recently added Gullah Gullah Island season 3 to the mobile streaming service! Kids will love spending time with Ron, Natalie, Shaina, and especially Binyah Binyah - their favorite playful Pollywog! Season 3 also brings the new addition of Chansome the Pelican, along with trips to the beach and visits from Grandma. Get ready for more adventures with the whole group as kids learn and explore all things Gullah!

Nickelodeon also plans to debut all 365 classic Teletubbies episodes from the original series very soon!

Nickelodeon's "The SpongeBob Musical" Announces Complete Cast; Unveils Sneak Peek

Nickelodeon's Broadway-aimed The SpongeBob Musical has announced the complete cast for the world premiere, Playbill reports!

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday 11th April 2016 for the Chicago world premiere this summer.


The show had previously cast a virtual unknown, Ethan Slater, in the title role of the "absorbent and yellow and porous" character from Nickelodeon's hit original animated series (Nicktoon) SpongeBob SquarePants. Newly added among the principals: Carlos Lopez will play SpongeBob's penny-pinching boss, Mr. Krabs.

Lilli Cooper will play SpongeBob's close friend Sandy Cheeks. Danny Skinner will make his Broadway debut as SpongeBob's dimwitted starfish pal Patrick. Gavin Lee (Bert in Mary Poppins) will play the sourpuss Octopus Squidward Tentacles, and Nick Blaemire (Godspell) will play the scheming villain Plankton.

Other Bikini Bottomites will be played by Gaelen Gilliland, Curtis Holbrook, Juliane Godfrey, Stephanie Hsu, Jesse JP Johnson, L'ogan J'ones, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Mark Ledbetter, Kelvin Moon Loh, Lauralyn McClelland, Vasthy Mompoint, JC Schuster, Allysa Shorte, Jacob Smith, Abby C. Smith, Jason Michael Snow and Allan K. Washington.

The production's tryout will begin previews on Tuesday 7th June 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, with a limited run scheduled through Sunday 3rd July 2016. The production is co-conceived and directed by Tina Landau (Superior Donuts, Bells Are Ringing), and Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) will choreograph.

The SpongeBob Musical will be presented as part of the "Broadway In Chicago" subscription series. Tickets are available at all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St., 151 W. Randolph St., 18 W. Monroe St. and 175 E. Chestnut), the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (800) 775-2000, all Ticketmaster retail locations and online at BroadwayInChicago.com.

Broadway dates, theatre and ticket information have yet to be announced.

Spanning nine seasons on Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants has had his fair share of underwater adventures. But, on Broadway, he's going to have to save the world.

"I know this sounds insane, but it's basically SpongeBob Apocalypse," book writer Kyle Jarrow (A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, Whisper House) previously told Playbill.com. "If you can imagine the movie Armageddon with SpongeBob as like the main character, essentially saving the world, that is... It's not about an asteroid, but other than that it's basically SpongeBob has to save the world from certain destruction."

The musical will feature songs from a mixture of classic and contemporary artists, including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of the band Aerosmith, Tony winner Cyndi Lauper (Kinky Boots), They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Coulton, Dirty Projectors, The Flaming Lips, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T's and T.I., with an additional song by David Bowie and additional lyrics by Jonathan Coulton.

"All of the musicians got a brief on where their song fits in the story, so they weren't randomly writing songs on the topic of SpongeBob," Jarrow explained. "They knew where it fit in the story."

He added, "SpongeBob is super fun. It's obviously family-friendly; it's got like a hipster humor to it as well, but I think there's an opportunity to say something that actually matters about the way that we live now and about the way that fear can make people make decisions that are maybe not the smartest decisions."

Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then) provides music supervision for the show and, according to Jarrow, is "making it sound cohesive."

He added, "To be a book writer, where you have, I think, 14 different songwriters, it's just a crazy beast. It's been really wild, but it's super awesome. It's just a really complicated animal, so it's been this fun process of figuring out how to get the songs to fit."
