Why 'Fairly OddParents' May Not Be Coming to 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl' Anytime Soon

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has delighted fans by including so many Nickelodeon characters from the network's vault, including Reptar from Rugrats, Helga Pataki from Hey Arnold!, Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys, CatDog, Powdered Toastman from The Ren & Stimpy Show, and Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters together in one game. However, even though Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has an impressive cast list, some shows have been left out, leaving fans feeling a bit disappointed.

One show in particular that fans were surprised to see missing from the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl line-up was The Fairly OddParents, Nickelodeon's long-running animated series about a boy with magical fairy godparents. With more characters for NASB set to be released as DLC, fans are hoping that Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda and/or even Vicky will be poofing into the game in the future. Unfortunately, fans may be waiting a long time to see Fairly OddParents added to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

It all boils down to rights and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl being made for a global audience. Although Fairly OddParents is produced by Nickelodeon for the network, the network only has the rights to the series for the U.S.

In 2001, the Canadian animation production, distribution and merchandise licensing company Nelvana partnered with Nickelodeon to license the international distribution rights to two Nick series, Taina’s World (which became Taina) and The Fairly Odd Parents, as well as the consumer products rights to Fairly OddParents. Although the deal was signed 20 years ago, Nelvana still holds all rights to the first five seasons of Fairly OddParents outside of the U.S. (as well as the rights to Taina), making it a bit tricky for the game to add Fairly OddParents characters when its been released globally. It's also the reason why Fairly OddParents aired on a few Disney channels internationally.

The developers of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl previously said that they couldn't clear the rights for all the properties they wanted in the game, and Fairly OddParents may unfortunately be one of those properties.

This is backed up by, when THQ Nordic announced in 2018 that they were partnering with Nickelodeon to produce video games inspired the network's hit series, Fairly OddParents was listed as "US only", meaning Fairly OddParents could only be released in the U.S.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. To find out more about the game, click here.

Netflix Mix-Up Sees Squidward Feature on 'Squid Game' Show Page

Netflix's new South Korean survival drama series Squid Game has become an overnight sensation. Since premiering on Sept. 17, the show quickly rose to the streaming platform's top charts and is now poised to be its biggest show to date.

Squid Game's smashing success is now inspiring hilarious memes, merchandise, and other pop-culture references, including Squidward Tentacles from Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants, as the cranky octopus's name comically associates him with the series - and bizarrely, it looks like Squidward being part of Squid Game could actually be canon, thanks to a mix-up on Netflix!

What's on Netflix posted a photo on Twitter, above, that, for a minute, the show menu for Squid Game on Netflix actually featured Squidward for its poster! It's unknown whether it was a error, or if Netflix is getting in on the joke, as fans have been making Squidward x Squid Game mashups on social media. It's hilarious nonetheless.

But that's nothing compared to the horrors that live beneath the trapdoor, for there is always something down there, in the dark, waiting to come out.. be warned: don't you open that Trap Door (you're a fool if you dare!).. stay away from that Trap Door, 'cos there's something down there!

The Trap Door is a claymation-style animated television series, originally shown in the United Kingdom in 1986. The plot revolves around both the daily lives and the misadventures of a group of monsters living in a castle. Although the emphasis was on humour and the show was marketed as a children's programme but also for family entertainment, the show drew much from the genres of horror and dark fantasy. The show has since become a cult favourite and remains one of the most widely recognised kids' shows of the 1980s. Nickelodeon UK aired the series in the late '80s with Pop started rerunning the show in 2010.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Sept. 30, 2021--Nickelodeon will debut a brand-new installment of its celebrated Nick News series, Nick News: Kids & Sports on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Featuring appearances from 2021 Olympic silver Medalist Jordan Chiles, 2016 Olympic gold and silver medalist Laurie Hernandez, NBA All-Star Devin Booker and five-time Olympic gold medalist and gymnastics icon Nadia Comăneci, among others. The special delves into the exciting world of sports, sharing personal and compelling stories about the power of athletics to shape and enrich kids’ lives.

Hosted by CBS News correspondent Jamie Yuccas, the half-hour special kicks off with a profile of the Famed Sierra Canyon High School, known not only for its academics but also as a launching pad to the NBA, with an unprecedented number of students making the pros. Also, CBS News’ Vladimir Duthiers sits down with Olympic Gymnast Jordan Chiles, who discusses her long road to the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and how her friendship with longtime BFF Simone Biles helped provide the support she needed to succeed under unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, Olympic Gymnast Laurie Hernandez, NBA All-Star Devin Booker and Host of The NFL Today on CBS James Brown will answer kids sports related questions like: “What are the most popular sports for girls and boys?”

“The power of sports cannot be denied. For many kids, sports played a pivotal role in coping through this pandemic,” said Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Vice President of News Programming, Nickelodeon and Executive Producer of Nick News. “Through Nick News: Kids & Sports we share the fun and inspirational side of sports, as well as the stories of incredible kids and elite athletes to highlight the many ways sports can empower kids to be their best selves.”

Nick News: Kids & Sports will also share the story of Luzi, a 14-year-old from Orange County, Calif., who was born with Spina Bifida and through a myriad of sports has discovered there are no limits to what she can accomplish, from wheelchair skateboarding to surfing; to dancing with the Rollettes, a wheelchair dance team from Los Angeles; all fueling her dream to one day compete in the Paralympic Games. The episode also includes a primer about The Special Olympics, which was founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver and has over the last 50 years galvanized millions of kids and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities through sports. Also, Rory Hu is back to test viewers’ knowledge of all things sports, with some help from gymnastics icon Nadia Comăneci.

Following the premiere on Nickelodeon, Nick News: Kids & Sports will be available on Nick.com, Nick App and Nick On Demand beginning Thursday, October 7.

Xbox Is Giving Away Custom 'Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl' Xbox Series X Consoles in New Sweepstakes

Xbox has teamed up with the recently released video game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl for a sweepstakes to give away two limited edition custom Xbox Series X consoles inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants from, well, SpongeBob SquarePants and Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

The method of entry is rather simple as interested folks need only follow the official Xbox Twitter account and retweet the sweepstakes tweet to enter. The contest ends on October 24th.

As with other branded custom Xbox Series X consoles, the bright and colorful SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ones are essentially the normal consoles with a wrapped bit of art on top. The matching controllers that come with them are also branded similarly.

Being rectangular itself, the Xbox Series X seems to be the perfect console for a SpongeBob SquarePants makeover. Meanwhile, the sides and back of the Leonardo console features emblems and phrases from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

The official rules for the "Xbox All Star Brawl Series X Custom Consoles and Controllers Sweepstakes" make it clear that the custom controllers and Xbox Series X consoles are bundled together with an approximate retail value of $499.

These consoles look great, but sadly, they aren’t going up for sale. You can read the rules for the sweepstakes over on the Xbox website. The sweepstakes opened just a short time ago and will run until 8 PM PDT on October 24th. Microsoft is giving away both the SpongeBob and Leonardo consoles, but it’s only giving away one of each. The company says that potential winners of the "Mutant Ninja Turtle artwork" items and one for the "Sponge Bob artwork" items will be notified via Twitter DM on October 29th, so keep an eye on your inbox on that day if you decide to enter. Winners must also be 18 or older and be legal residents of any region supported by Xbox Live.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl itself is currently available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The video game is developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and it is published by GameMill Entertainment. Orange France Adds Kids Package to TV Offering

Nick News Brief: Orange France has started offering French TV customers a package of TV channels and video games dedicated to young audiences. The new add-on, called Pack Jeunesse, is priced EUR 9.99 per month with no minimum contract period. ‘Horrid Henry’ Makes Its Way to Amazon Kids+ in the U.K.

Novel Entertainment, specialising in creating successful children’s character brands, has partnered with Amazon Kids+ for all five seasons of its popular animated TV series Horrid Henry (250 x 11’). The highly acclaimed show is now available to the UK audience from today, 11 October.

The series can be accessed through Amazon Kids+ on Fire TV, Fire Tablets and compatible iOS, Android and Chrome devices; a subscription service offering unlimited access to thousands of kid-friendly books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, games and more.

RAI in Italy Acquires 'The Adventures of Paddington'

Nick News Brief: Italian broadcaster RAI has acquired the rights two seasons one and two of Nickelodeon's hit Emmy award winning CG-animated preschool series The Adventures of Paddington from European production, distribution and sales powerhouse Studiocanal! The series is based on the beloved Paddington Bear franchise by Michael Bond. The news follows Shanghai Senyu Media in China acquiring the rights in March this year. RAI also took the rights to Esther’s Notebooks, also from Studiocanal. Currently in its second season, a third season of The Adventures of Paddington is in production.

Pluto TV and BBC Studios Extend Partnership with New European Channel Offering



Paris/New York - Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service, announced today (Oct. 11) a partnership with BBC Studios that brings three new channels to the streaming service across the five European countries of Germany, Switzerland, Austria (GSA), France and Spain.

In France, audiences can now enjoy a new Doctor Who channel, which features the first 10 seasons of the BBC action-adventure series that explores space and time, in addition to the series’ Christmas Specials, including “Snowmen,” “Last Christmas” and “Day of The Doctor.” The Doctor Who channel on Pluto TV in Spain features the series’ first nine seasons and its Christmas Specials, while Pluto TV in GSA now offers fans of the series classic Doctor Who episodes that originally aired between 1980 and 1990, in addition to an all-new BBC Travel channel.  

In addition, Pluto TV’s new BBC Drama channel is now live on Pluto TV in GSA, France and Spain. The channel features the best of renowned dramas from the BBC Studios catalogue, including series like Call The Midwife, War And Peace, Great Expectations and The Musketeers.
