Nickelodeon Central and Eastern Europe to Premiere 'The Bureau of Magical Things' on Monday 24th December 2018

NICKELODEON CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE ADDS MAGIC & MYSTERY TO LINEUP WITH “THE BUREAU OF MAGICAL THINGS” PREMIERING 14th DECEMBER



Nickelodeon Central and Eastern Europe will debut the enchanting new live-action series The Bureau of Magical Things, created by Australian television producer Jonathan M. Shiff (H2O: Just Add Water), on Monday 24th December 2018 at 19:00 CET! Following launch, new episodes of The Bureau of Magical Things will continue to air weekdays at 19:00 CET on Nick CEE. The Bureau of Magical Things is locally titled Varázslatos holmik irodája in Hungary.

Filmed in Brisbane and the Gold Coast of Australia, The Bureau of Magical Things combines magic, mystery, and a unique mythology to tell the story of Kyra, an ordinary teenage girl who is caught in a clash between an elf and a fairy then becomes magically transformed. As a “Tri-ling”—part human, part fairy, and part elf—Kyra teams with a group of magical teenagers and learns to use her newfound powers to keep the human world safe from the surprising, funny, and sometimes dangerous effects of magical chaos. But when these young guardians uncover a threat, humans, fairies, and elves must unite to save both their worlds!

The series stars Kimie Tsukakoshi (The Family Law) as Kyra, a confident teenage Tri-ling who exhibits powers of both fairies and elves; Mia Milnes as Lily, an optimistic and sweet fairy; Elizabeth Cullen as Imogen, a headstrong and ambitious elf; Julian Cullen as Darra, Imogen’s charming hipster elf brother; Rainbow Wedell (Terra Nova) as Ruksy, an orderly fairy and teacher’s pet; Jamie Carter (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Peter, Kyra’s longtime classmate and science fiction lover; Christopher Sommers (Hunters) as Professor Maxwell, a witty half-elf-half-human in charge of the local Magic School; Melanie Zanetti (The Leisure Class) as Orla, an elf agent working for the Department of Magical Intervention (DMI); and Nicholas Bell (I, Frankenstein) as Sean, director of the DMI and Lily’s father.


In the first half-hour launch episode, “A Magical Mishap,” ordinary teenager Kyra gets zapped when she touches a book that is the subject of a magical tug‐of‐war between a fairy, Lily, and an elf, Imogen. When Kyra wakes the next day, she can see and perform magic as a newfound Tri‐ling – part‐human, part‐fairy and part‐elf.

Nickelodeon has acquired the global rights to The Bureau of Magical Things (20x30'). The series made its debut on Nick USA on Monday 8th October 2018, followed by its debut on Nickelodeon in the UK and Ireland on Monday 5th November 2018, and is currently rolling out globally across Nickelodeon's channels and branded blocks in 170+ countries and territories.

Spin Master | Toy Movement Nunavut Mission

Even in a prosperous country like Canada, there are still many at-risk communities with children and families living in impoverished conditions. That is why in May 2018, The Toy Movement partnered with two minor hockey organizations, The Mimico Canadiens and the Rankin Inlet Minor Hockey Association, to bring toys to kids in Canada’s far north. Hundreds of underprivileged children in the remote Inuit community of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut were surprised to receive new toys donated by Spin Master and handed out door-to-door by the young hockey players.



The players from Mimico were visiting the northern community at the edge of the Arctic Circle as part of an Experiences Canada cultural exchange program to promote minor hockey ties among the communities. When the team heard about what Spin Master was doing with the Toy Movement, they met, and an opportunity was identified to assist each other in spreading goodwill to the north.

Spin Master arranged a donation of hundreds of toys and sent personnel to accompany the mission to assist and see firsthand the joy they brought to the children. Like many northern towns, Rankin Inlet is a proud, culturally rich community but it faces the challenges of poverty, home security and an astronomically high cost of living, making even basic toys an unattainable luxury for many. The Mimico and Rankin hockey organizations along with volunteers from the Rankin community orchestrated the donation of shipping from MGA International and Calm Air and the wrapping and distribution of the toys making it a real team effort. Even the RCMP scored an assist when they helped to distribute toys to other far off hamlets by plane and snowmobile.

The players wrapped the gifts and then went door-to-door to deliver the toys to those households most in need. It was a truly heartwarming sight for many seeing kids giving back to kids. In the end it was hard to tell who had the bigger smiles, the children who received the toys or the young hockey players who felt the joy of the spirit of giving. Unlike in a hockey game, this time everyone got to win.

The Toy Movement aims to deliver inspiration, imagination, and joy to children in desperate need all over the world.

Nickelodeon Russia Celebrates 20th Birthday; Names Sergey Zhukov as Network's New Ambassador

Nickelodeon Russia (Россия) is today celebrating their landmark 20th birthday, and as part of their celebrations, today named musician Sergey Zhukov (Сергей Жуков) as the network's new ambassador!


In his new role as the ambassador of Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., Sergey will promote the network's three core values: friendship, kindness and solidarity and respect for others.

Together with his family, the musician will star in a series of shorts telling viewers about all the exciting upcoming premieres, events and pro-social initiatives Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. has planned in Russia.

Additionally, to further celebrate the channel's 20th anniversary on-air, Nickelodeon Россия has launched "Childhood with Nickelodeon", a social media flashmob which invites grown-ups who grew up watching Nickelodeon to share what their favourite Nick shows were on social media by using the hashtag #детствосникелодеон!

Nickelodeon Россия also commemorated their 20th birthday on-air by airing a special Birthday marathon between 15:10 to 22:15 MCK featuring old favourites and new hits, including: Fairly OddParents (Волшебные покровители), SpongeBob SquarePants (Губка Боб Квадратные Штаны), Knight Squad (Команда Рыцарей), Henry Danger (Опасный Генри), Sam & Cat (Сэм и Кэт), Bunsen Is a Beast (Чудище Бансен) and I Am Frankie (Я — Фрэнки). Additionally, Nickelodeon Россия's official YouTube channel will have a special live stream featuring back-to-back episodes of '90s Nickelodeon favourites CatDog (Котопес), Angry Beavers (Крутые бобры), Rugrats (Ох уж эти детки) and Hey Arnold! (Эй, Арнольд!)!



Since launching in 1998, Nickelodeon has also remained faithful to its motto: "Kids First!". Jeffrey Wahlberg Replaces Original Diego in ‘Dora the Explorer’ Movie

Paramount Players and Nickelodeon Movies' live-action Dora the Explorer movie may be wrapping production soon but the movie has had a major last-minute casting change, as Jeffrey Wahlberg, the nephew of Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg, has replaced Micke Moreno as Dora’s cousin Diego in the film.


In a statement to Collider, a Paramount spokesperson confirmed Moreno’s exit, saying “Micke left the production for personal reasons.” A representative for Moreno did not respond to a request for comment.


Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Sicario: Day of the Soldado) will star as the titular teen, who heads out on an adventure with her best friend, Boots the monkey, and her cousin Diego. Moner is no stranger to working with Wahlbergs, having starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in Transformers: The Last Knight and Instant Family, the latter of which hits theaters on Friday.

As for Dora the Explorer, 11-time Emmy and four-time BAFTA nominee director James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass) has assembled a cast of diverse superstars such as Eva Longoria and Michael Peña, who play the parents of the titular character; Eugenio Derbez (Overboard, Instructions Not Included; How to Be A Latin Lover), who plays Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders; Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids: Mission Control, Midnight Sun) as Randy, a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora; Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands) as the school’s snooty class president, Sammy; and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel, Amores Perros, Thor, The 33) as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie, Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern, Moana), who will play the role of Powell; Q’orianka Kilcher (The Alienist), who will play Inca Princess Kawillaka; and Madelyn Miranda, who portrays Young Dora.

Nicholas Stoller and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel wrote the script, and Walden Media is co-financing and co-producing the film with Paramount, which is slated to release Dora the Explorer on Aug. 2, 2019.

Dora the Explorer is based on the popular Nickelodeon children’s show, and Paramount Players has a mandate to leverage Viacom-owned properties for the big screen treatment. The studio is also developing a feature adaptation of the beloved Nick series Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

Per the studio, the movie will tell the story of Dora, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, but now must navigate her most dangerous adventure yet: high school. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Dora the Explorer is produced by Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr, who is joined by longtime Bobin associate, executive producer John G. Scotti (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick Chronicles, A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez.

The production marks the lovable Latina character’s big screen debut (and first live-action adaptation on any platform) after fourteen seasons (2000-2014) and 172 episodes on Nickelodeon.

The character of Diego is an important one within the Dora the Explorer universe, having received his own animated TV spinoff Go, Diego, Go! on Nickelodeon. Wahlberg, who is half-Dominican, was always a favorite for the role of Diego, so when Moreno had to leave the project in a hurry, Paramount was quick to reach out to the young actor.

Like his uncle Mark before him, Wahlberg is a Calvin Klein model who recently co-starred in the indie action movie Future World, co-directed by James Franco, who also stars. The 22-year-old Boston native has spent the past several years paying his dues in the industry, honing his chops in short films and taking on small roles on TV shows like HBO’s Ballers and Starz’s Counterpart. Wahlberg is also slated to star in the indie drama Reefa, a true story about a young artist named Israel “Reefa” Hernandez who was reportedly killed by police officers for spray painting an abandoned building. The role of Diego is a major coup for Wahlberg, who is represented by Innovative Artists, Leverage Management and attorney Jonathan Sauer.

Dora the Explorer is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media.
