How 'Kamp Koral' Keeps Sandy's Original Story of How She Meets SpongeBob

Ever since the synopsis for the SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years was revealed, one of the things that has puzzled fans is about the introduction of Sandy Cheeks.

In SpongeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob firsts meets Sandy Cheeks in the episode "Tea at the Treedome", when Sandy fights a giant clam. However, the diving suit-wearing squirrel from Texas who lives in a treedome in Bikini Bottom is also featured in Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, where she also meets SpongeBob for the first time, contradicting the events in "Tea at the Treedome". Although it might seem that Kamp Koral recons Sandy's backstory, the series explains how both introductions are possible.

A prequel to SpongeBob SquarePantsKamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years follows 10-year-old SpongeBob during his summer at sleepaway camp, with stars Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), all of whom reprise their iconic roles in this new series. Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko's Modern Life, The Casagrandes) and Kate Higgins (Blaze and the Monster Machines) join as new characters Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

In the second segment of Kamp Koral episode 4, "Kitchen Sponge", SpongeBob helps Plankton, who, in Kamp Koral, runs the Krusty Kanteen are the camp, leading to the development of a very familiar sandwich. In the episode, SpongeBob writes down the secret recipe of what would become the famous Krabby Patty - which sparks Plankton's interest in stealing it, causing him to accidentally burn it. It's then at the end of the episode that it's revealed how Sandy could both meet SpongeBob at camp again when she's a bit older!

At the end of "Kitchen Sponge", Sandy sneaks off and uses a mysterious acorn-powered invention - which reveals that present day Sandy (in SpongeBob SquarePants) actually contacted her younger self in the past to direct young Sandy to stop Plankton from stealing the secret formula, which would of altered the timeline of the present day series!
