Nickelodeon Asia Announces Highlights For 2015

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia has announced in the following press release, from VIMN Asia's official Pressroom, a selection of Nickelodeon Asia's exciting highlights for 2015!

In the year ahead, Nickelodeon Asia will deliver fresh hits, a deep pipeline of new series, and tent-pole events tailor-made for the tastes of today's post-millennial generation of kids.

Nickelodeon in Asia will be kicking 2015 off by welcoming the brand-new animated series "Oggy and the Cockroaches" to its programming line-up. One of the most beloved cartoons globally, "Oggy and the Cockroaches" is a worldwide hit broadcasting in over 150 countries on major networks, including many of Nickelodeon's international channels. Featuring Oggy the cat, your typical victim, and three cockroaches, who just won't leave him alone, the show premieres as a two-hour marathon on Thursday 1st January 2015 at 12pm (Hong Kong/Philippines/Singapore), 12.15pm (Thailand/Indonesia) and 1.15pm (Malaysia) before beginning its regular timeslot on weekdays from Monday 5th January at 5pm (PH), 5.05pm (TH/WIB), 6.05pm (MY) and 6.50pm (HK/SG).

Nickelodeon Asia will also be running year-long campaigns based on two of Nick's biggest animated property's, "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", throughout 2015 - "SpongeBob SquarePants: Everything is Funnier with Friends" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Heroes, Brothers, Dudes" - as well as bringing to viewers new seasons of returning hit series "The Haunted Hathaways", "Winx Club" and "Rabbids Invasion". Nick Asia will continue to deliver laughs for kids by building its slate with even more content, such as recently premiered "Breadwinners" and "Max & Shred", and brand-new original series, including "Dora and Friends: Into the City!", "ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks" and "Bad Seeds".

Oggy and the Cockroaches reimagines "old-fashioned" slapstick cartoons in an ever-fresh hit battling good versus bad and big versus little. The simplicity of the plotline with wild chase scenes and endearing characters, complemented by the lack of dialogue and the colourful world of animation, brings together families of all ages for an enjoyable co-viewing experience. The cartoon was produced during 1998 to 2013 and has enjoyed 15 years of television success with a total of four seasons and garnered over 2.2 million fans on its Facebook page.


Nickelodeon in the U.S. has been chalking up ratings wins this year, driven by strong performances from its hit live-action and animation slate of programmes such as The Thundermans, The Haunted Hathaways, and SpongeBob SquarePants. It closed 2Q14 as basic cable's number-one network in total day with Kids 2-11 (2.6/834K) and total viewers (1.6M), marking the network's third consecutive quarter at the top. It was the top-rated total day network for the 3Q14 with Kids 2-11 (2.4/748K); and among total viewers, the network averaged 1.4M P2+ that quarter.

In 2015, Nickelodeon will be running year-long campaigns “SpongeBob SquarePants: Everything is Funnier with Friends” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Heroes, Brothers, Dudes,” as well as bringing to viewers new seasons of returning hit series The Haunted Hathaways, Winx Club and Rabbids Invasion. It will continue to deliver laughs for kids by building its slate with even more content including just-released Breadwinners and Max & Shred, and new original series Dora and Friends: Into the City!, Alvin!!! and the Chipmunks, and Bad Seeds.

Nick Australia And Wet'n'Wild Sydney Open Nickelodeon Beach At Popular Water Park

To celebrate Wet'n'Wild Sydney's first birthday, Village Roadshow Theme Parks has teamed up with Nickelodeon Australia to open a brand-new Nickelodeon-themed area at the popular water park called Nickelodeon Beach, just in time for summer!


Nickelodeon Beach, which opened on Friday 12th December 2014 as part of the parks first anniversary, is part of the Wet'n'Wild Junior part of the resort, and is home to some of the world's best known Nickelodeon characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, Dora The Explorer and Boots, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Bubble Guppies. Designed especially for kids, Nickelodeon Beach features kid-friendly water slides including miniature versions of Wet'n'Wild Sydney's larger thrill slides!


Nickelodeon Beach has two bright and colourful areas filled with lots of splashtacular fun! Splash about with your favourite Nickelodeon friends, including SpongeBob and Patrick, get soaked under the giant tipping bucket or use the watersprays to drench your friends. There's a shaded Splash Zone especially for toddlers too, to keep them happy and safe.

Kids Get A New Take On Education In New "Nick News With Linda Ellerbee" Special "Old School/New School" Premiering 12/16 On Nickelodeon USA

Nickelodeon has announced in the following press release, from The Futon Critic, that Nickelodeon USA will premiere and show the latest brand new "Nick News with Linda Ellerbee" special episode, called "Old School/New School", in which kids receiving non-traditional educations share their stories, on Tuesday 16th December 2014 at 8:00pm (ET/PT). The special profiles teens around the country who attend cyber, game-focused and real-world learning schools, and are finding out what it takes to be successful.

NEW YORK- Dec. 12, 2014 - Kids receiving non-traditional educations share their stories in the brand-new Nick News with Linda Ellerbee half-hour special, "Old School/New School," premiering Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The special profiles teens around the country who attend cyber, game-focused and real-world learning schools, and are finding out what it takes to be successful.

"New schools. Old schools. Where and how you learn is never going to count as much as what you learn," says Ellerbee.

Dylan, 12, of New York says before he started classes at Quest to Learn, a school in New York City that uses games to teach almost everything, he wasn't interested in his schoolwork. "I was really zoned out. I was like reading comics in class," he says. "But now I'm not even considering touching a comic book because I'm so scared that I'm going to miss a subject."

Bella, 15, of Bemidji, Minn., goes to school at TrekNorth where kids are required to go on wilderness trips to get a diploma. "They have amazing service learning trips (as well)," she says. "Sometimes (kids) go on weeklong trips to help the homeless."

Izabel, 14, attends Durango Big Picture High School in Durango, Colo., where students spend two days a week at internships and the rest of the time working on independent projects based completely on student interests. "I wanted to come here because I didn't like sitting in the classroom listening to a lecture all day," she says. "(Here) you're creating a future that you want."

Avianna, 12, of Drexel Hill, Pa., goes to school online through Connections Academy. "I learned that actually not having a lot of kids around me makes me thrive," she says. "Now that all the distractions are removed, I'm a lot more focused."

Lea, 15, attends Diablo Valley School in Concord, Calif., where there isn't curriculum, homework, tests or grades. "I've become a lot more confident with myself," she says. "And I think the best thing about this school is that there is no pressure to be anyone other than yourself."
