Nickelodeon France Announces 'Grand Prix for Comics' 2021

Following a successful launch in 2019, Nickelodeon France has announced that it has launched the second edition of Grand Prix de la BD (Grand Prix for Comics), the channel's initiative which aims to give children a taste for reading while highlighting the diversity of children's comics available in France!


For the 2021 edition Grand Prix de la BD, Nickelodeon has selected 15 comic strips in line with the channel's core values and dealing with diverse themes such as humour, friendship and family have been shortlisted to be judged by the expert eyes of children.

Nickelodeon's Grand Prix de la BD 2021 jury is made up of 10 children.

Titles in this year's competition include: Cendre & Hazel (Ed. BD Kids) by Thom Pico and Karensac, Tâvutatèt (Ed. Vents d'Ouest) by Carole Trébor and Gabriele Bagnoli, Power Gamer Adventure (Ed. nobi nobi !) by Kazuyoshi Seto, Le Grimoire d'Elfie (Ed. Drakoo) by Audrey Alwett, Christophe Arleston and Mini Ludvin, Lancelot (Ed. Rue de Sèvres) by Séverine Gauthier and Thomas Labourot, Lightfall (Ed. Gallimard) by Tim Probert, and Côme et le Fantôme (Ed. Slalom) by Véronique Cauchy and Camouche.

Nickelodeon will also be giving kids at home the chance to give their opinion by inviting them to vote for their favourite comic book series from a selection of eight titles, which will be revealed soon. Voting starts Monday 24th May 2021, with fans being able to cast their votes online at evenements.nickelodeon.fr.

The winning titles will be revealed starting Monday 7th June 2021 on Nickelodeon and the channel's Instagram page.

Pour ce premier prix, 10 enfants on accepté de faire partie du jury pour récompenser une nouveauté BD parmi une sélection de 7 titres.

Et c'est Le Grimoire d'Elfie (Ed. Drakoo) de Arleston, Alwett et Mini Ludvin qui remporte le prix. Cette BD raconte les aventures d'Elfie et Magda qui, depuis le décès de leur mère, vivent chez une tante acariâtre. Mais un jour leur sœur aînée revient de Londres et a transformé un bus anglais en librairie ambulante. Une nouvelle vie commence !

Nickelodeon International Acquires 'Ricky Zoom' Season 2 for Preschool Channels in France and APAC; Seasons 1 & 2 for Nicktoons Africa

Entertainment One (eOne) has announced that Nickelodeon International has acquired the rights to season two of the popular CG-animated preschool series Ricky Zoom for Nickelodeon Junior in France and Nick Jr. channels in Asia Pacific (APAC), with plans to launch the new season in 2021. Additionally, eOne has also licensed the rights of Ricky Zoom season 1 and season 2 for Nicktoons in Africa, where it'll premiere on Monday 12th July 2021.



Ricky Zoom follows the adventures of Ricky, a little red rescue bike, and his loyal Bike Buddies as they zoom around their Wheelford community helping others, trying out new stunts, and learning to stand on their own two wheels.

PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” UK & Ireland 2020 Tour Rescheduled to Summer 2022

Update (11/6/2021) - The UK leg of the Paw Patrol Live! Race To The Rescue Tour has been rescheduled for a second time.

Due to the continuing COVID-19 restrictions, the show based on Nickelodeon's beloved CG-animated preschool series will now hit venues across the UK in July, August and September 2022. A statement from management reads:

"Due to the continued uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, we regretfully have to postpone the PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” UK Tour to Summer 2022.

Please note that all tickets purchased for the tour will remain valid for 2022. Please look out for an email from your point of purchase with all the information you need to know about your tickets, including what to do if you are unable to attend the new dates.

We have done everything possible to try and facilitate the tour as planned and share the disappointment of not being able to do so. We apologise for any inconvenience the situation will cause. We thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you in 2022!"

PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” Tour to Return to the UK & Ireland During Summer 2021


Important Update:

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and as a precaution to the safety of the show's audiences, cast and staff, the 2020 PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" tour, promoted by TEG MJR, has been postponed to Summer 2021, and will now call at Newcastle's Utilita Arena, P&J Live in Aberdeen, Leeds' First Direct Arena, Edinburgh Playhouse, SEC Armadillo in Glasgow, O2 Apollo Manchester, Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena, Dublin's 3Arena, Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena, Brighton Centre, Arena Birmingham, London's SSE Arena Wembley, Bournemouth International Centre, SSE Arena Belfast, M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool and Llandudno's Venue Cymru between June 26 and August 31, 2021.

Note that all tickets purchased for the 2020 tour will remain valid for 2021, so please look out for an email from your point of purchase with all the information you need to know about your tickets, including what to do if you are unable to attend the new dates.

For the majority of the rescheduled dates there will be multiple performances on each day; a morning show, lunchtime performance and afternoon show.

PAW Patrol Live! appreciates that this decision may come as a disappointment and apologise for any inconvenience this will cause. The ‘Babes in Arms’ policy has been extended for the 2021 tour by 12 months so that children 24 months and under do not require a ticket provided they are seated on the lap of a ticket holder.

Ultimately show organisers have a responsibility to protect the well-being of the community and they believe this is the correct decision to make. Organisers thank you for your understanding at this time. Stay safe and the PAW Patrol Live! crew look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Below is the original announcement for the Summer 2020 tour of PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue”. Please note that all the following tour dates are no longer valid.

Nickelodeon, TEG Life Like Touring and VStar Entertainment Group today announced that the hugely popular PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” will be returning to the U.K. and Ireland in July and August 2020! Based on the hit animated TV series on Nick Jr. produced by Spin Master, PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” brings everybody’s favourite pups back to the stage for an action-packed, high-energy, musical adventure where they come to the rescue when Mayor Goodway goes missing during the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race.

Following its sold-out inaugural tour of the UK and Ireland in 2017, PAW Patrol Live! "Race to the Rescue" will commence its 2020 tour in Newcastle on Sunday 5th July 2020, before making its way to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Dublin, Cardiff, Brighton, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth, Belfast and Liverpool, before concluding in Llandudno on Saturday 31st August 2020. There will be limited performances per city.


Tickets will go general public on-sale at 9.00am on Friday 6th December 2019 on https://www.pawpatrollive.co.uk. Prices range from £29.20 to £68.40 for VIP Meet & Greet Seats. Hospitality packages and group tickets are available. All prices listed include admin and facility fee.

Featuring a cast of everybody’s favourite PAW Patrol characters, PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” shows that “no job is too big, no pup is too small”, and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem-solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork. The show engages audiences with Bunraku puppetry, an innovative costuming approach that brings the PAW Patrol characters to life on stage along with their vehicles and packs.

The show includes two acts and an intermission and incorporates an innovative costume approach that brings the pups to life on stage with their vehicles and packs during the all-important rescue mission. The performance features up-tempo music and a written script, a good introduction to live theatre for young children. Classic theatrical scenery along with a high-tech video wall visually transports families to popular locations from the TV series, like Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi’s Farm and Jake’s Mountain. During the show, the audience has the opportunity to participate in the adventure and become a part of the PAW Patrol Cheer Team.

Nickelodeon Netherlands (Nederland) are once again partnering with Jantje Beton, an organisation dedicated to providing youth services, to host the 14th edition of Buitenspeeldag, Nickelodeon Nederland's localised version of Nickelodeon's "Worldwide Day of Play", on Wednesday 9th June 2021! For Buitenspeeldag 2021, Nickelodeon will go off-air between 13:00 and 17:00 to encourage kids to go out and have fun.


Due to on-going restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19, Nickelodeon and Jantje Beton have come up with an alternative way to play outside: The Poster Walk. Inspired by the successful Teddy Bear Walk.

The Poster Walk encourages children to go out alone or with their friends and play outside. Nick and Jantje Beton hopes that as many households as possible will stick special posters on their windows, so that children can look for all the different posters in their own neighbourhood. The posters, featuring popular Nickelodeon characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House (Huize Herrie) and The Casagrandes (De Casagrandes) are printed on A3 format and all contain their own idea on what to play.

The posters can be picked up (free of charge) at the nearest Intertoys store or can be downloaded from the website www.buitenspeeldag.nl!

Hoewel het coronavirus enige beperkingen oplegt, hebben Nickelodeon en Jantje Beton een alternatief bedacht om toch lekker buiten te kunnen spelen: De Poster Walk. Geïnspireerd op de succesvolle teddyberen-walk.

De Poster Walk stimuleert kinderen om alleen of samen met hun vriendjes erop uit te gaan en lekker buiten te spelen. Wij hopen dat zoveel mogelijk huishoudens de posters op het raam zullen plakken, zodat kinderen op zoek kunnen gaan naar alle verschillende posters in hun eigen buurt. De posters zijn geprint op A3-formaat en bevatten allen een eigen opdracht zoals Fantasie verstoppertje, Coole move, Draai neus en vele andere gekke, spannende en speelse opdrachten!

Helpen jullie ook mee om de kinderen een leuke Buitenspeeldag te geven? De posters kunnen (gratis) worden opgehaald bij de dichtstbijzijnde Intertoys winkel of zijn te downloaden via de website www.buitenspeeldag.nl!

WESTFRIESLAND – Houd jij er ook zo van om lekker buiten te spelen? Of ben je benieuwd welke spelletjes je nog meer kunt doen? Doe dan mee met de Buitenspeeldag op woensdag 9 juni, voor kinderen uit groepen 3 tot en met 8. Team Sportservice en lokale verenigingen organiseren in jouw gemeente verschillende buitenspelletjes zoals; een knikkertoernooi, kingen, blikkie trap, levend stratego en eitje leggen.

Marco de Vent, bewegingsconsulent Team Sportservice en organisatie: ‘Buitenspelen is niet meer zo vanzelfsprekend als vroeger. Terwijl het juist goed is voor de gezondheid, het voorkomt overgewicht en het verlaagt het stressniveau. Dat is niet het enige, kinderen die regelmatig buitenspelen eten en slapen ook beter. Wij kijken er naar uit om samen met de kinderen een leuke dag te beleven!’

Natuurlijk vindt het team van Meer Moerdijk buiten spelen fantastisch” Tijdens de Buitenspeeldag pakken we flink uit. In samenwerking met de bibliotheek West-Brabant en de Koerdische stichting organiseren wij een buitenspeelmiddag op de honkbalvelden van Seven Hills. Meld je aan voor een tijdsblok en kom lekker spelen. Ook weten we dat de oudere jeugd, dol is op uitleven. Ook voor deze leeftijd hebben we een uur gereserveerd.”

Nickelodeon stopt met uitzenden tijdens begin Buitenspeelweek

Op woensdag 9 juni begint de jaarlijkse Buitenspeelweek. Tijdens de openingsdag zendt tv-zender Nickelodeon, een van de partners in het programma, niet uit. Voor opvangprofessionals is er een speciaal webinar.

In de Buitenspeelweek 2021 stimuleren de initiatiefnemers kinderen en jongeren om veel buiten te spelen. Dat is nodig, want kinderen spelen steeds minder buiten en brengen veel tijd door achter het beeldscherm. Kinderen en jongeren ondervinden hier schade van. De zorgen over hun ontwikkeling op het gebied van lichamelijke en psychische gezondheid zijn groot. Is dit tij nog te keren?

Tijdens de openingsdag is er onder meer een Poster Walk en zijn er tal van speeltips op de site te vinden. Opvallend is dat mede-organisator Nickelodeon tijdens de openingsuren van de Buitenspeelweek geen tv-uitzendingen verzorgt. Het gaat daarbij om woensdag 9 juni van 13-17 u.

Webinar professionals

In het webinar Zicht op Buiten zijn er op donderdag 10 uur onder meer bijdragen van Caroline Klaver, oogarts, Mai Chin A Paw, hoogleraar epidemiologie van jeugd en gezondheid en Dave Ensberg-Kleijkers, directeur-bestuurder Jantje Beton. Ook deelt een aantal gemeenten hun aanpak.

Verder is er een webinar voor ouders met antwoorden op vragen als ‘hoe maak je buitenspelen leuk?’, ‘hoe zorg je ervoor dat je kind naar buiten gaat?’, ‘moet je altijd meedoen, of kan je kind zelf naar buiten?’ En ‘hoe stimuleer je hem of haar?’

Ieder jaar organiseren Jantje Beton & Nickelodeon de Buitenspeeldag. Dit is dé middag waarop gevierd wordt wat volgens de organisatoren o zo belangrijk is: spelen!

Dit jaar maakte de Buitenspeeldag op woensdag onderdeel uit van de Buitenspeelweek! De Buitenspeeldag is het startschot van een week vol activiteiten voor alle leeftijdsgroepen georganiseerd door Jantje Beton, de Johan Cruyff Foundation, Krajicek Foundation, Kenniscentrum Sport & Bewegen en het Mulier instituut.

Tot en met zondag roept de Buitenspeelcoalitie op om naar buiten te gaan en lekker te spelen, sporten en bewegen. Kinderen spelen 6x minder buiten dan hun ouders én 15% van de kinderen speelt zelfs nooit buiten.

WildBrain CPLG Secures Wave of ViacomCBS FMCG Deals in CEE

Deals have been signed across ViacomCBS’s brands, including ‘PAW Patrol’ and ‘SpongeBob SquarePants.’


WildBrain CPLG has secured a wave of new and extended fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) partnerships in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) across ViacomCBS’s portfolio of animated brands, including PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Shimmer & Shine and Bubble Guppies.

The new pan-regional deals brokered by WildBrain CPLG’s CEE team include foodcare for a range of PAW Patrol instant porridge, hot cereals and instant cocoa, which is now available at key retailers Biedronka and Lidl; a PAW Patrol oral care range from GSK; and building upon its initial launch of PAW Patrol fruit and vegetable juices and pouches, Hortuś has recently extended its offering with the addition of Jurajska Junior PAW Patrol water, marking the FMCG company’s first licensed product on its Jurajska brand.


In addition, long-term licensee Dairy4Fun continues to significantly grow the business across Europe with its range of children’s desserts and snacks featuring PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants and Blaze and the Monster Machines.

In Poland, WildBrain CPLG has secured a deal with the ice cream manufacturer Koral, for a range featuring PAW Patrol and SpongeBob SquarePants. The partnership marks Koral’s first licensed offering and the range’s recent launch was supported by an extensive outdoor marketing campaign, including branded trucks.

Alongside this, a new deal with Cerbona in Hungary saw a range of breakfast cereals featuring SpongeBob SquarePants recently launched at local retailers Auchan, Spar, Tesco HU and CBA. Additionally, Cerbona is gearing up to roll out the range into new territories, including Czech Republic and Romania from this summer. 

In Serbia, WildBrain CPLG has signed beverage company KNJAZ MILOS (part of the Pepsi Group) for a flavored water featuring Blaze and the Monster Machines and Shimmer & Shine, with PAW Patrol joining in August. Also in Serbia, Plazma will continue with its range of PAW Patrol snacks and cereal.

Italy’s Marco Verratti Joins 44 Cats Charity Campaign Ahead of UEFA European Football Championship

The Italian footballer and national team champion, Marco Verratti is taking on a new feline appearance ahead of the upcoming UEFA European Football Championship, through a new partnership with the country’s own animation studio, Rainbow and its popular 44 Cats franchise.


Verratti has signed a new contract with the Make a Wish Italia Onlus, the local Make a Wish Foundation, in which the football star will feature – in cat form, no less – alongside the four protagonists from 44 Cats, on a customised Italian flag designed for this year’s major tournament.

The initiative, dubbed Italia Gattastica, will see the character Gatto Marco join the line up of Lampo, Milady, Pilou, and Meatball on a flag that will be sold to fans ahead of the Euro tournament this year. The revenues from the sale of the limited edition Italian flag – now available on Rainbow’s Amazon store – will be donated to the Make A Wish Italia Onlus, the charity that makes the wishes of seriously ill children come true.

"Already big fans of sports and challenges, the Buffycats will be glued to the screen to cheer on the Italian team – with a special thought for children in need. To help them in their new mission they called Marco Verratti, ready to morph into feline champ GattoMarco!," said Rainbow.


“I’m really happy to kick off this project. The day I was asked to join this adventure my thoughts immediately turned to my children, who are huge 44 Cats fans,” said Verratti in human form.

“It was fun and stimulating to work with serious and very professional companies like Rainbow and Vanquish. Now I hope that the little fans of Buffycats and now also of Gatto Marco will like it, because during the next European Championships we will need the support and cheer of everyone. Go Azzurri! Go 44 Cats!” 

New content, contests and special activities will be rolled out for the entertainment of fans during the European Championship on all 44 Cats social networks.

Produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Antoniano and Rai Ragazzi, 44 Cats is an animated hit series that has been conquering fans worldwide. The Italian-made preschool series is a mix of action, comedy, friendship and original music, that has become a global phenomenon with record ratings since its debut in November 2018 on Rai Yoyo. The series is currently in its second season.

44 Cats is on air in over 100 countries, including on Nickelodeon channels internationally, and in more than 20 languages. Populating the soundtrack of the series is a run of original songs performed by Antoniano, Italy’s most famous Piccolo Coro.

Artist Creates Stunning Cover Art for Fictional Nickelodeon Video Games

Throughout the '90s and aughts, Nickelodeon released a wide-range of video games based on some of the network's hit shows, such as Rugrats: Search for Reptar, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, Nickelodeon GUTSThe Ren & Stimpy Show: Stimpy's Invention and Rocko's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day, mainly through their partnership with THQ Games.


As these games were released during the early days of home video gaming on consoles such as the Super NES, PlayStation and PlayStation 2, the graphics - although great when released - kind of look a bit dated now, compared to the graphics on today's consoles, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One.

If you've ever wondered what video games based on iconic '90s animated Nicktoons series would look like today (or even in CGI), wonder no more! México-based designer Carlos Dattoli has unveiled a project called "Fake Covers", in which he designs cover art for fictional games inspired by iconic properties, including many Nickelodeon ones - and they are glorious!

Rocko's Modern Life: Alien Invasion:


The first piece of cover art is for a PS5 game titled Rocko's Modern Life: Alien Invasion, and Rocko's Modern Life looks stunning reimagined in CGI! The game kind of looks like a Rocko's Modern Life x Destroy All Humans x Call of Duty, and there's a lot going on in it, from O-Town being invaded by aliens, Rocko, Heffer and Filbert brandishing sci-fi weapons (and a plunger), Spunky geared up for a war, and the Big Heads (along with some Invader ZIM-esque aliens) in the background!

The Angry Beavers in Quest for River Town!


The next piece of cover art is for a PS5 game titled The Angry Beavers in Quest for River Town!, and again, Norbert and Daggett would look glorious in CGI!

Hey Arnold! The Enchanted Pumpkin


Next up is Hey Arnold!: The Enchanted Pumpkin, a Halloween-themed game for the Nintendo Switch - and yes, you guessed it, it also looks spectacular in CGI! Most characters from Hey Arnold! are represented, including Arnold as Dracula, Gerald as a mummy, Helga as a witch, Harold as Frankenstein, and Grandma Gertrude as a literal cat lady!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles


Rounding out the Nickelodeon portion of the gallery are two stellar TMNT games: A Funko-themed Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, based on the hit comic series and movie of the same name for the Xbox, and TMNT!, and again, both look Turtley Awesome!


In addition to the Nickelodeon games, Carlos has also created "Fake Covers" for fictional video games inspired by Star Fox (Battlefield), Samurai Pizza Cats (Back in Little Tokyo), F-ZERO (Fire), Robotech (The Fight for Home), Batman (The Night of the Penguin), and like the Nick Games, they're breath- takingly awesome! The only downside is that these video games are fake, so we won't be playing them anytime soon - but we can dream! And If
