Viacom Labs Names Linkin Park’s Machine Shop Ventures’ Kiel Berry as Co-Head/SVP; Berry Joins Viacom Veteran Susan Claxton to Lead Labs

Viacom Labs, an incubator for the future of fan experience and engagement, announced today in a press release that Kiel Berry has joined as Co-Head and Senior Vice President (SVP). Berry, most recently head of Linkin Park's Machine Shop Ventures, will co-lead Viacom Labs with Viacom veteran Susan Claxton who was recently promoted to SVP. The division reports to Viacom Executive Vice Presidents Ross Martin and Kern Schireson.

Berry helped launch Linkin Park’s Machine Shop Ventures, which has stakes in Lyft, Hyperloop One, and Blue Bottle Coffee, among many others. He maintains an advisory role there. Berry started at Machine Shop Entertainment, aligning Linkin Park’s influence and interest across music, technology, content and design. Before that he worked at Creative Artists Agency in their Entertainment Marketing and International Business Development groups. Berry began his career working overseas and stateside as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan after graduating from University of Pennsylvania.

Berry’s co-head Susan Claxton has served as Viacom Labs’ executive producer since its launch. Volunteers across New York City to give back at start of holiday season.

Jericho Project, a 33-year old nationally-acclaimed nonprofit ending homelessness at its roots, and its supporting partners (confirmed to-date BlackRock’s OUT Network; Bombas Socks; Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP; Goldman Sachs; K.I.D.S Fashion Delivers; Proskauer; TD Bank, and Viacom) are set to kick off the First Annual city-wide Day of Action taking place December 2nd to galvanize hundreds of volunteers to improve the lives and prospects of New Yorkers feeling invisible to society and struggling with homelessness and poverty.

Jericho’s Day of Action will begin the 2016 holiday season by raising awareness about the crucial issue of homelessness and offering individuals, families, community partners and companies a unique opportunity to participate in results-driven service projects taking place simultaneously across ten of Jericho’s supportive housing residences and program service offices in Manhattan and the Bronx. These facilities are the foundation of Jericho’s work to provide housing, employment and physical and mental health services to over 2,000 homeless and formerly homeless individuals annually.

Volunteer projects ranging from assembling and distributing a variety of care packages to clothing, food, and toy drives and distributions will brighten the outlooks of many NYC citizens struggling to get off the streets and on with life. Through this direct service volunteerism, the Day of Action is designed to enable the city’s most vulnerable individuals, including veterans, young adults (a large majority of whom identify as LGBTQ) and families to receive the support, everyday necessities and supplies they so desperately need, but often have to do without.

“New York is one of the most compassionate cities in the world, yet we have over 61,000 adults and children sleeping in homeless shelters on any given night. The First Annual Day of Action is the newest game-changing strategy in the fight against homelessness advanced by Jericho Project and its dedicated corporate and community partners. From Jericho's Veterans Initiative launched in 2006, to its city-wide Home to Stay programming for families, to its housing and employment services now underway for young adults, including displaced LGBTQ individuals, the agency has always been a leader in innovating and comprehensively meeting the specific needs of the populations served.

Nickelodeon Announces Season Two of Toon-Talking Nickelodeon Animation Podcast Series Beginning in November



BURBANK, Calif.– (Oct. 20, 2016) – Nickelodeon announced today that Rocko’s Modern Life creator Joe Murray will participate in a live podcast recording for the Nickelodeon Animation Podcast at Entertainment Weekly’s PopFest Sunday, Oct. 30, from 12:15-1:00 p.m. in Los Angeles. Hosted by Hector Navarro (Geek & Sundry), Murray will share career stories and discuss bringing to life Rocko’s Modern Life in front of a live audience. In addition, the Nickelodeon Animation Podcast will return for a second season (20 episodes) in November with new weekly episodes available on iTunes, SoundCloud, YouTube and nickanimationpodcast.com.

Murray’s live recording will be available soon across the Nickelodeon Animation Podcast platforms. Nickelodeon Acquires Rights To "Bruno And Boots: Go Jump In The Pool" TV Movie For Channels In Australia And Europe

The Canadian production studio Breakthrough Entertainment Inc. (Ride, Max & Shred, Rocket Monkeys) has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon Australia & New Zealand and Nickelodeon channels in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Benelux, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland have acquired the broadcast rights to the wildly successful movie Bruno and Boots: Go Jump In The Pool!


Based on the much-loved Macdonald Hall book series by Gordon Korman (Swindle), Bruno and Boots follows the adventures of Bruno Walton (Jonny Gray, Ride, Max & Shred) and Melvin "Boots" O'Neal (Callan Potter, The Other Kingdom), the most infamous troublemakers at Macdonald Hall, a prestigious school for boys, and, within their time at the school, Bruno has managed to convince Boots to tag along during countless prank operations.


Featuring an eclectic mix of supporting characters ranging from an an eccentric school genius to a hypochondriac snob, Bruno and Boots' epic pranks and frequent unintended consequences keep the stories continuously thrilling.

But with the final swim meet of the season close at hand and only half the funds raised, Bruno must take drastic action to keep Boots from becoming a dreaded York "turkey" – a fate worse than any detention Headmaster William “The Fish” Sturgeon (Peter Keleghan) can dole out - including rallying the girls of Scrimmage Academy in his epic quest!

Following the tremendous response from the films world premiere on YTV in Canada in April 2016, Breakthrough has announced that Bruno and Boots will be continuing their hilarious adventures in two brand new sequels which are currently in production, Bruno & Boots: This Can’t Be Happening at Macdonald Hall and Bruno & Boots: The Wizzle War. These sequels will follow in the spirit of the original film and will once again feature the infamous troublemakers from Bruno and Boots: Go Jump in the Pool.

In This Can't be Happing at Macdonald Hall, Headmaster Sturgeon has had enough. In an attempt to put an end to Bruno and Boots’ high jinks, he declares that they are to be separated; no shared classes and, most certainly, no shared dorm room. This punishment is worse than anything the boys could have imagined. However, if Bruno and Boots can alienate every boy in Dormitory 3, Sturgeon will be forced to re-unite them. The plot almost succeeds, but one misstep forces the girls from the Scrimmage Academy for Education and Awakening to move into Macdonald Hall, leaving Bruno and Boots back where they started.


In The Wizzle War, the Boards of Directors launch an experimental educational program, introducing authoritarian Assistant Headmaster Mr. Wizzle to the boys of Macdonald Hall and the miserable Assistant Headmistress Ms. Peabody to whip the girls of the Scrimmage Academy into shape. With new dress codes, psychological testing, and early-morning wake-up calls with track laps as punishment, the boys and girls decide Wizzle and Peabody have to go. But how? As they pull out all the stops, they ultimately turn to the theory that “love conquers all” to oust the pair once and for all.

Joining the cast for the first time in Bruno & Boots: The Wizzle War are Kathleen Phillips (Mr. D, Sunnyside) as Ms. Peabody and Matt Baram (Make It Pop, Seed) as Mr. Wizzle.

Virgin Media And Viacom Expand Programme Deal In The UK

UK pay TV platform Virgin Media and Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) have agreed a new multi-year programming deal in the UK and Ireland.


The partnership ensures Virgin Media customers will continue to enjoy favourite networks such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV, and Comedy Central, as will also bring new Viacom channels and additional catch up TV and box sets to Virgin Media's TV platform.


As part of the unspecified multiyear deal, Virgin Media customers will have access to hundreds of hours of box sets featuring programmes such as Geordie Shore from MTV and Inside Amy Schumer from Comedy Central. New kids box sets from Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. – including SpongeBob SquarePants and Paw Patrol – and, from November, Channel 5's Milkshake will further boost Virgin Media's existing selection of kids' programmes.


Virgin Media customers will also be the first in the UK to have access to the Viacom Play Plex, which will feature four new mobile streaming apps - Nickelodeon Play, Nick Jr. Play, MTV Play and Comedy Central Play – giving them on-demand, on-the-go access to a library of content from each brand, as well another means of accessing a live feed of the relevant channel and a range of short-form content and games. As part of the deal, the Spike linear channel has also been made available to Virgin Media customers for the first time since the channel launched in April 2015, alongside more than 20 additional Viacom channels.


Viacom's most-watched TV channels will now also be available on Virgin Media's TV Anywhere platform. This means Virgin Media customers can continue to enjoy programmes from MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon on their mobile devices.

David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media said: "This agreement with Viacom means our customers will not just continue to have access to some of the very best TV from MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon or the newly launched Spike, but can now enjoy even more programmes on demand – whether on TV or mobile. The release of the Play channels follows a model often seen in the United States where a programmer's content is tied to a cable subscription.

Time specifics of Virgin Media's and Viacom's new carriage arrangement were not announced.
