Nickelodeon to Premiere 'Spyders' in Latin America and Brazil in February 2021

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) and Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) will premiere Nickelodeon Spyders, Nickelodeon International's brand new comic action-adventure series in February 2021! The series follows the adventures of three siblings who discover that their parents are undercover spies for an environmental protection agency, and decide to also become spies in order to help them in secret.

Nickelodeon Spyders will premiere on Nickelodeon on Monday 8th February 2021 at 17:00 in Argentina, 19:00 in México and Brazil, 19:30 in Colombia, 20:30 in Venezuela and at 21:30 in Chile.

​"While spending a summer-long family vacation by the lake, siblings Tommy, Nikki, and Daniel Fisher discover that their seemingly boring parents are actually daring undercover spies, who are chasing a devious villain aiming to dry up the country's water supply. When the siblings realize their parents' mission is in jeopardy, they form a secret task force called THE SPYDERS in order to help them out. Tommy, 12, a cute, irresistible goofball; Nikki, 15, a well-meaning but impetuous leader, and Daniel, 16, a sedentary, anxiety-ridden computer nerd, use their brains, charm, audacity and unbridled enthusiasm to outwit and outsmart the villain, who has so far eluded their parents. Will the untrained, blundering Spyders succeed where mom and dad failed?"

Spyders (originally titled The Covurts) focuses on Anna and Noah Fisher, (portrayed by Nati Kluger and Kobi Maimon (The Greenhouse), respectively) highly highly skilled undercover agents who work for a ECCO – Environmental Counter Crime Organization, and are tasked with fighting criminals who endanger nature or the environment. Little do they know that their three kids – Daniel (16; played by Amit Hechter, Dog House), Nikki (15; played by Kim Or Azulay) and Tommy (12; portrayed by Yonathan Gottlieb, Dog House, Forever) – have discovered their secret occupation and have formed a task force of their own, named Spyders.

Nickelodeon's Spyders is the first original co-production between Nickelodeon International and Israeli Nutz Productions—the subsidiary production arm of Ananey Communications Group—together with Israeli cable network HOT.

Nickelodeon has ordered 40 x 22-minute episodes, divided into two seasons, which will be distributed to Nickelodeon's international audiences spanning 170+ countries and territories via the brand’s more than 100 channels and branded blocks. The series made its world debut on TeenNick Israel on Wednesday 18th March 2020.

Spyders is created by Michal Cooper Keren, Tom Riles, David Guest and Patrick Quinn. The head writer is Israeli screenwriter Michal Cooper Keren, the creator of Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.

Michal Cooper Keren, who created Nickelodeon Israel's Spell Keepers, is also the series' head writer. The series is an original co-production between Nickelodeon International, Nutz Productions and Ananey Communications Group.

The series commenced filming in Israel during summer 2019 and wrapped in December the same year.

“After a long history of collaboration with Ananey, we are so excited to kick off our first co-production together with our partners in Israel,” said Nina Hahn, the Senior Vice President (SVP) of International Production and Development for Nickelodeon, when the show was first announced at global TV and digital content market MIPTV in April 2018. “We can’t wait for young fans around the world to meet The Spyders!”

Orly Atlas-Katz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) OF Ananey Communications said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Nickelodeon International. I am certain that with their vast experience in content for kids, HOT's programming expertise and our high-end productions abilities, this show will be something to look forward to."

Ananey is an Israeli content producer and pay-TV provider that serves as the Israeli licensor of several of Viacom’s biggest brands, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV, and produces both local and international original content.

Under the partnership, Nickelodeon has become Israel's No. 1 children's channel and, alongside Nick Jr., reaches 49 percent of the youth audience, due in large part to Ananey’s original local productions for kids and teens.

The greenlight of The Spyders comes on the heels of Viacom purchasing a minority stake in Ananey Communications Group in 2017.

Nickelodeon Spyders is the second series that originated on Nickelodeon Israel to air on Nick UK, following The Greenhouse in 2014 which was filmed in Hebrew and dubbed into English. The series was later remade under the title Greenhouse Academy for Netflix.

Nutz entered a co-pro deal with Bunim/Murray Productions’ (Nickelodeon's The Crystal Maze) new BMP Kids division on the youth prank show Gotcha, which bowed on Nick Israel last December. Other popular Nutz series currently airing on Nick Israel include Spell Keepers, Bed & Biscuit (Dog House) and The Hood.

Netflix to Add 'iCarly' Seasons 1 & 2 on Monday, February 8, 2021

Netflix will be adding the first two seasons of iCarly on Monday, February 8, 2021, which will bring 46 episodes of Nickelodeon's beloved live-action comedy series, including the feature-length special "iGo to Japan" to the streaming service!

In iCarly, Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) finds her previously "normal" life turned upside down when her Internet show, iCarly, becomes an instant smash with young Web heads. With her parents traveling abroad, Carly must rely on the help of friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Nathan Kress), and her quirky older brother, Spencer (Jerry Trainor), to cope with the newfound success. The series also starred Noah Munck (The Goldbergs) as the gang's schoolfriend, Gibby.

iCarly originally ran on Nickelodeon for 97 episodes across six seasons between September 8, 2007 - November 23, 2012. Following the series finale of iCarly, McCurdy reprised her role for Sam & Cat, starring alongside Ariana Grande, who reprised her Victorious character, Cat Valentine. Sam & Cat ran for 35 episodes between June 8, 2013 - July 17, 2014.

Paramount+ recently announced that it is reviving iCarly for a new series, with Cosgrove, Kress and Trainor signed on to reprise their respective roles. Filming is expected to commence in March 2021 for a premiere later this year.

Jay Kogen (School of Rock, The Simpsons, Frasier) and Ali Schouten (Diary of a Future President, Champions, Merry Happy Whatever) have signed on to develop the update. They also will executive produce and serve as co-showrunners.

All episodes of iCarly are currently available to stream on CBS All Access, ViacomCBS' streaming service, which will soon be rebranded as Paramount+.

The news follows Netflix adding Henry Danger (seasons 1, 2 & 3) and The Haunted Hathaways (seasons 1-2) in January. The streaming platform also added Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra to its library earlier this year, with the former even smashing a record.

In November 2018,  Netflix and Nickelodeon announced that they had formed a multi-year output deal to produce original animated feature films and television series - based both on the Nickelodeon library of characters as well as all-new IP - for kids and families around the world. Netflix is also working on a live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The original creators of Avatar were originally slated to be a part of the live action series, and though they departed from it earlier this year, fans are crossing their fingers that it will still be a welcome part of the franchise that made Aang and friends so popular. The streamer also has animated movies based on The Loud House and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the pipeline.

Kansas City Chiefs' Juan Thornhill Flashes 'SpongeBob' Cleats Ahead of Super Bowl LV

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Juan Thornhill is making the most out of his first Super Bowl appearance.

Thornhill was warming up before taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV and the cameras showed that he was wearing SpongeBob SquarePants cleats. Thornhill highlighted the iconic "Band Geeks" episode from Nickelodeon's beloved animated series in which SpongeBob and his band sing "Sweet Victory."

The news comes are Nickelodeon is "Nick-ifying" Super Bowl LV! Full details can be found here!

Super Bowl LV, which sees the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. is airing on CBS. The game can also be streamed across devices on CBS Sports and NFL digital properties, via CBS All Access, and on mobile via the participating teams’ mobile properties, Yahoo Sports and other Verizon Media mobile properties. SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 2, 2020 -- "Baby Shark Dance," the iconic music video from the kids and family entertainment brand Pinkfong, has officially become the most-viewed YouTube video in history, surpassing "Despacito" by Justin Bieber, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

"Despacito" currently sits at 7.038 billion views on the platform, while "Baby Shark" hit 7.042.

Along with this news, the "Baby Shark" single has reached another unprecedented record, receiving RIAA Diamond certification (11x Platinum). This means the song has sold over 11 million records. This recognition makes "Baby Shark" one of the only 41 Diamond singles in history alongside best-selling artists such as Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga. The song also has been recognized as BRIT certified 2x Platinum in September.

"Baby Shark" became a breakout sensation when it launched on YouTube in November 2015. With its catchy music, iconic characters, and playful dance, all combined together, "Baby Shark" took the world by storm, recording a 20-week-streak on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the Official Singles Chart, the highest position ever achieved by a children's song in history. The hit song spawned a viral dance challenge named #BabySharkChallenge, generating over 1 million cover videos around the world. Famous fans include Cameron Diaz and Venezuelan baseball player Gerardo Parra, who has launched a Baby Shark collection with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan.

“Baby Shark,” which is known for its repetitive “doo-doo-doo-doo” refrain, was uploaded on June 17, 2016.  The 2 minute, 17 second-long video depicts two kids singing and dancing in front of an animated underwater backdrop. The original writer of the song is unclear – it is said to be based on a nursery rhyme – but it became a global phenomenon after being recorded by Hope Segoine, a 10-year-old Korean-American singer.

The news comes as Baby Shark is preparing to star his own Nickelodeon series. Baby Shark’s Big Show! is a 2D-animated preschool series (26 half-hour episodes) will follow Baby Shark and his best friend William as they journey on fun-filled comedic adventures in their community of Carnivore Cove, meet new friends and sing original catchy tunes along the way. The series will launch with the holiday special, "All I Want for Fishmas", premiering Friday, December 11 at 12:30 p.m, (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. programming block, before fully launching in Spring 2021.

Following the U.S. launch, Baby Shark’s Big Show! series will roll out on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels internationally. In addition to Nickelodeon and SmartStudy’s partnership to produce Baby Shark’s Big Show!, ViacomCBS Consumer Products (VCP) is managing consumer products licensing worldwide, excluding China, Korea and Southeast Asia, for the Baby Shark property.

Fish & Chip's Kate Russell Launches FerretTube

Kate Russell, tech journalist, presenter and author who presented Nickelodeon UK's hit '90s gaming magazine series Fish & Chips - alongside James Gilby and Bert the Fish - has announced the launch of FerretTube!

Launched by Kate, who recently retired from her tenure at BBC Click, together with her business partner Richy Reay following a chance encounter with an abandoned ferret during lockdown, the channel streams 24/7 on Twitch (, applying broadcast production principles to provide high quality edutainment across a number of digital channels.

Kate explains: “The idea for FerretTube came after weeks of twiddling my thumbs during the first months of lockdown. I needed a project to occupy my time and keep my career ticking over, so looked at the resources I had available to me at home. I've been playing video games on Twitch for five years but wanted to do something more original that would bring joy to a wider range of people in these troubled times. I am also a big animal-lover - training as a veterinary nurse before I moved to tech journalism. Then, out for a walk one day I found a lost ferret, and it sparked an idea to combine my technology and streaming knowledge with my love of animals, to bring cute and fluffy live to the internet 24/7."

FerretTube features a spacious and colourful enclosure that has been specially designed around 4 high-definition day/night visions cameras set up to capture the best moments. The channel streams 24/7 footage of the ferrets' lives, together with two active play sessions out on the studio floor each day.

Kate said: "It's impossible not to smile when you see our ferret kits running and bouncing around the room, and we are already building a fantastic community in the chat room who hang out there for company or just to relax and lurk. Even when they are not running about the ferrets look adorable when sleeping, up close on the night-vision camera that sits in the corner of their sleep box.”

As well as the day-to-day happenings in the enclosure, Kate produces and presents one in-depth show  each week, covering all aspects of caring for pet ferrets. These shows are a chance to introduce special guests like 'Irina the vet' and 'Peter the handler', and run audience-led workshops to design and build creative ways to entertain the ferrets.

Kate explains: "We want to show the reality of getting and keeping a pet ferret and help viewers
understand everything that's involved - the good and the bad. So far, the audience has already gone through 'bite training' for the young kits with me. I have the scars to prove it, they don't! But they have also seen me get my first snuggles from these adorable little creatures. Ultimately, we hope this up close and personal view of a ferret-keeper's role will help reduce the number of pet ferrets being abandoned and needing rescue homes."

The launch comes as recent research* shows an enormous growth in demand for streaming channels during lockdown. Twitch, a gaming platform which introduced a 'Just Chatting' feature last year, saw a 62% increase in hours watched between the first and second quarter of this year - reaching 5 billion hours watched.

Kate adds: "History is going to look back on this period as a turning point in the way we consume
and create entertainment. People increasingly want to find content that relates to them, is tailormade and interactive. We believe strongly that the coming mass consumption of live streaming will help democratise the broadcast entertainment industry, which is fantastic for independent creators. Through FerretTube we want to demonstrate what is possible when you deliver broadcast production values into direct-to-audience content distribution channels in every kind of genre."

As the project progresses, Kate and Richy aim to create and share advice and how-to guides encouraging others who want to take streaming more seriously for themselves.

Kate concludes: “Like many others in the entertainment industry, Covid 19 has had a huge impact on my career and now feels like the right time to do this for me. I hope watching my journey will bring joy to some, and inspire others to set up their own channel, streaming the thing that they do or love. It could be a really good way to supplement their income – especially if you have a small business doing something interesting - as more and more diverse audiences from across the world turn to digital channels looking for something different to watch.”
