Nickelodeon USA Continues Ratings Roll, Notches 18th Consecutive Week At The Top With Kids And Total Viewers

Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, has announced in the following press release, from TVByTheNumbers.com, the exciting Nickelodeon News that Nick USA closed the week (Monday 5th to Sunday 11th May 2014) as basic cable's number-one network in total day with Kids 2-11 (2.4/757K) and total viewers (1.4M), marking the 18th consecutive weekly win for the net!


Nickelodeon USA's ratings win was fueled by "SpongeBob SquarePants", which was the week's top series, across all TV, with Kids 2-11 (4.5/1.4M, +10%) and the top animated series with Kids 6-11 (4.1/800K).

Nickelodeon also swept with Kids 2-5, taking the top three spots for the week with this demo. "PAW Patrol" led the net's hit preschool roster, averaging a 7.2/895K (+80%); "Team Umizoomi" ranked second, scoring a 6.1/756K (+30%); "Bubble Guppies" placed third with a 6.0/740K (+28%).

Nick at Nite closed the week as the number-one basic cable network in total day with Women 18-49 (0.5/285K). In primetime the net also scored gains with Adults 18-49 for the week, averaging a 0.3/335K (+8% in delivery) and drawing 1.1M (+10%) total viewers.

Nickelodeon's niche nets also continue to post increases with their core demos. TeenNick posted double and triple-digit year over year (YOY) gains, up +94% with total viewers, and up +150% with Teens 12-17 for the week. Nick Jr. USA posted gains with its K2-5 audience, up +10% in delivery.

Nick Jr. 2 UK To Premiere Two Brand-New "Lalaloopsy" Movies In May 2014

ToyNews, a monthly trade magazine for the toy business, is reporting the exciting Nick Jr. UK News in the following article that Nick Jr. 2, the sister channel of Nickelodeon UK's preschool channel, Nick Jr. UK and Ireland, will be premiering and showing two brand-new "Lalaloopsy" in May 2014!


Although the exact transmission (TX) air dates and times are still to be announced by Nick Junior, the online British and Irish TV guide website Digiguide is reporting that Nick Jr. 2 is planning to air extra-special adventures with "Lalaloopsy" on Saturday 17th May 2014 at 8:10am and 9:55pm, Sunday 18th May 2014 at 3:35pm, and on Monday 19th May 2014 at 6:55pm.

"Lalaloopsy" is an CGI-animated series based on the award-winning, best-selling Lalaloopsy toy line that celebrates diversity, friendship and teamwork. The series stars the 'Sew Magical! & Sew Cute!' Lalaloopsy rag dolls — Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Mittens Fluff 'n Stuff, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Rosy Bumps 'N' Bruises, Jewel Sparkles, Peanut Big Top, Spot Splatter Splash, and Dot Starlight – who magically came to life when their last stitch was sewn. Each character has their own personality based on the fabrics that were used to make them and a special pet. They come together for daily adventures in a whimsical world of silly surprises called Lalaloopsy Land. "Lalaloopsy", commissioned by Nickelodeon, is co-produced with MGA and Moonscoop Productions.

MGA Entertainment is celebrating success in the US following the Lalaloopsy animated TV series being nominated in the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The Awards ceremony has been going for 38 years and it culminates in a televised show that pays tribute to the exceptional work of daytime broadcasting's elite.

The winners will be announced on June 22nd 2014 at a ceremony held at the Beverley Hilton Hotel, in Beverley Hills, CA.

Viacom International Media Networks Announces Key Hirings

The entertainment news website C21Media is reporting the Nickelodeon International News that Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) have announced that they have hired Fox International Channels' Vice President (VP) of business planning and development in Europe and Africa to oversee its brands in South Europe, Africa and the Middle East (SEMEA).


As VP, strategy and business development for VIMN, David Urgell Pérez will be responsible for developing new business and expanding the presence of brands including Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central in the regions.

His appointment comes after VIMN last month hired Andrea Castellari from Discovery Italia as Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager (GM) for Italy, the Middle East and Turkey.

Pérez and Castellari will be based in Madrid and Milan respectively and will report to Raffaele Annechino, Executive Vice President (EVP) and MD, VIMN South Europe, Middle East and Africa.

In related news, VIMN has hired former AOL Europe executive Joanna Wells as senior editorial director, digital media.

With over 15 years of digital content experience, Wells will be responsible for expanding VIMN's content output with the MTV News, Movies and Fashion teams based in UK and New York.

Wells is the former European director of lifestyle and entertainment at AOL Europe, where she managed a portfolio of 15 lifestyle and entertainment websites in UK, Germany and France.
