Nickelodeon UK Tops Kids Commercial Channels Ratings With The UK Debut Of The 2014 Kids' Choice Awards

Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has announced in the following Press Release the very exciting Nick UK News that Nickelodeon UK was the most popular commercial kids channel on Sunday 30th March 2014 as the UK broadcast of the star-studded and slime-filled "Nickelodeon's 2014 Kids' Choice Awards" and Orange Carpet pre-show was watched by over 316,000 individuals (over 193,000 kids aged four-to-15)!

Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards broadcast at 5:30pm won average audiences of 175,800 individuals (113,700 kids) peaking at 269,000 individuals and making the broadcast the top show of the day across all commercial kids channels.*

During the airing of the Kids' Choice Awards, the Orange Carpet pre-show and a new episode of Nickelodeon's hit original live-action comedy series "Sam & Cat", Nick UK ranked the number one kids' channel in the slot (4:30-7pm) with this strong afternoon performance contributing to a ratings result that saw Nickelodeon achieve prime position as the most popular commercial kids' channel and kids' network for the whole day.

Nickelodeon's 2014 Kids' Choice Awards took place at the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles where kids honoured their favourites from the worlds of film, music, sports and television. This year over 44 million votes were cast by UK fans through kca.nick.co.uk as well as through the Nick App and on twitter using custom KCA hashtags as they decided who would triumph in categories such as UK Favourite Band (One Direction) UK Favourite Football Star (Gareth Bale) and Favourite Male Buttkicker (Robert Downey Jr.). Highlights of the UK broadcast of the show included McFly surprised by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with an honorary blimp for Favourite UK Band of the Decade, a exclusive musical performance by The Vamps, while tennis superstar Andy Murray was recognised with the UK History Maker Award and given Nickelodeon's highest honour of being slimed. The Awards show was presented by Hollywood Superstar Mark Wahlberg while Diversity stars, Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely took on presenting duties during the half-hour KCA Countdown pre-show.

The presenting international sponsor for the 2014 Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards is 20th Century Fox’s Rio 2 and in the UK is Nickelodeon Land at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
