Karisma Confirms No Current Plans To Open The Nickelodeon Experience At Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica

Karisma Hotels & Resorts has kindly informed me that the Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica by Karisma has no current plans to offer Karisma's Nickelodeon Experience at the resort. Nickelodeon's Ashley Holman and Mark Kingston to Take Part In The Light Fund 2018 Cycle Challenge

2018 will see The Light Fund’s most ambitious fundraiser to date: The Light Fund 2018 Cycle Challenge - a four day cycling challenge from Bristol to Dublin; a distance of approximately 325 miles!

The Light Fund 2018 Cycle Challenge is open to everyone globally from the licensing and associated industries. Managed by sports events company Classic Challenge, the four-day tour starts in Bristol on Tuesday June 12 2018, taking in the stunning Welsh and Irish countryside, with challenging climbs and invigorating downhills, before culminating in Dublin on Friday June 15. Training is recommended!

Entertainment One (eOne) has unveiled new partnerships and a fresh toy line for Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, expanding the award-winning pre-school property’s presence at retail in the UK!

The toy category is gearing up for expansion, with master toy partner Character Options planning new line extensions for launch in Autumn/Winter 2017 (AW17). The new range will include figure and accessory packs, refreshed five-figure packs, new Royal Limousine and new Thistle Castle playsets.

Character Options is continuing to proactively support its Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom range this year with significant TV advertising and a new advert for September showcasing the Thistle Castle and Royal Limousine playsets. Since launch, Character has enjoyed strong retail sales for the property and has sold over 800,000 units across its ranges.

Nickelodeon's "Nella The Princess Knight" Gallops Across The Globe

Continuing's Nick Jr. Tribute Week, Virginia Monaghan, Vice President Creative, Marketing and Communications, Nickelodeon UK and Ireland, talks through the networks newest and most diverse hero, Nella the Princess Knight.

Nella the Princess Knight is Nick Jr.’s newest show for girls aged two to five years.

Nella is a true modern day princess - Nickelodeon's first-ever princess - who just happens to be a knight. A multi-ethnic, adventurous eight year old who is not afraid to speak her mind, Nella wears a special heart-shaped pendant which transforms her into a knight to solve problems and help her friends.

As a modern princess, she doesn’t need a prince to rescue her and the show gives equal weight to her beautiful gown and sparkly tiara as it does to her sword and suit of armour.

Nella lives in Castlehaven with her mum, dad and younger sister. Other key characters include her unicorn, Trinket and her best friend, Sir Garrett.

“We are delighted with the response we have received to the launch of Nella. The Nick Jr. audience loves her. The themes in the show and Nella’s dual roles resonate with today’s pre-schooler as well as their parents,” said Virginia Monaghan, VP creative, marketing and communications, Nickelodeon UK and Ireland.

“Princesses have always existed, but never a Nickelodeon one. We had to think about what would make a Nickelodeon princess unique. Girl empowerment has always been a core part of Nickelodeon's DNA, from Dora and Clarissa, so a girl who transforms into a knight to save the day is an easy fit for the network.

“Nella doesn’t have to be a princess or a knight, she can be both, much like the audience that want to dress up like a princess and then jump in mud.”

Earlier this year, Vivid Imaginations was announced as master toy partner and will now continue to lead the way in product development.

With a unique mix of play patterns featured throughout the series, including transformations, cool gadgets, tools, cute animals and great outfit changes, there’s a lot of opportunities when it comes to consumer products.

The first consumer products are slated to land at UK retail in 2018.

Nickelodeon UK Talks Make And Do Hit Series, "Rusty Rivets"

With new episodes launching across the globe throughout this year and next, as well as a new toy line on the way, Nickelodeon offers an overview of Rusty Rivets, the hit animation that has got kids making, doing and viewing the world over.

Firmly based in the Maker Movement, Rusty Rivets is a hit preschool series produced by Spin Master Entertainment (PAW Patrol).

The series has been developed to help encourage youngsters to use their imagination – spurring their interest in creating things, inventing things and bringing them to life.

The series, of course, is underpinned with lots of fun.

At only ten years old, Rusty Rivets invents his way out of every jam by repurposing spare parts and found objects into the wildest, coolest, most awesome contraptions ever. With the help of his best friend Ruby, he can solve any problems through his own creative inventions.

Rusty Rivets contributes to positive pre-school development by promoting the ‘power of learning by doing’ and focusing on self expression in the creations that are made.

Nick Jr.’s newest pre-school boys’ show has been a ratings winner since its UK launch in March of this year. A maximum audience of just under 140,000 tuned in to the premiere episode in March 2017 with the average audience above 100k, far higher than PAW Patrol’s premiere, and a significant 168 per cent up on the slot average.

New episodes of Rusty Rivets will continue to launch throughout this year and next.

Of course, consumer products will reflect the key elements of the show with the toy lines utilising the build and create aspects and softlines featuring key icons like gears, cogs and other gadgety-y elements.

Preschool Power: Nickelodeon's Virginia Monaghan Talks Nick Jr.'s Top-Rated Shows kicked off its Nickelodeon Tribute Week on Monday 3rd July 2017 with a chat with Virginia Monaghan, Vice President Creative, Marketing and Communications, Nickelodeon UK and Ireland, in which she ran through some of the top-rated children's channels' leading properties in the pre-school space, including PAW Patrol, Shimmer and Shine and more.

Nickelodeon is a powerhouse in the preschool arena, with shows such as PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Shimmer and Shine, Rusty Rivets and Nella the Princess Knight ensuring Nick Jr. continues to be the channel of choice for pre-school viewers.

PAW Patrol

Centred on the importance of teamwork between the pups and helping each other out to meet common goals, as well as the strong sense of community, within Adventure Bay.

“The PAW Patrol phenomenon has lead to incredible growth of the Nick Jr. audience, meaning that new shows now launch to a far larger viewership audience,” said Virginia Monaghan, VP creative, marketing and communications, Nickelodeon UK and Ireland.

The growth in the number of its pre-school characters now allows Nick Jr. to offer what it bills as a ‘fully-rounded solution for pre-schoolers development and curricular needs to the approval of parents and guardians,’ as well as kids’ entertainment.

Blaze and the Monster Machines

Blaze and the Monster Machines is a property firmly rooted in the STEM curriculum – science, technology, engineering and maths – presented in an interactive way.

Shimmer and Shine

Meanwhile, Shimmer and Shine focuses on the theme of resilience – try and try again until you get to the right solution – and how coming to a solution is easier when working together.

Rusty Rivets

Rusty Rivets reflects the Maker Movement, big in the US and growing in the UK and the rest of the world – using imagination to make and create things. In Rusty’s case, this is gadgets, machines, vehicles and anything else he can recycle material with which to build.

Nella the Princess Knight

Lastly, Nella, the princess who is also a knight, continues in the rich Nickelodeon vein of strong, empowered female characters who help the boys out, and not the other way around.

SpongeBob Tells BP - Back Off The Amazon Reef | New Greenpeace Campaign By Don’t Panic Partners

Environmental campaign group Greenpeace has enlisted the services of Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants to raise awareness of the potential risks entailed by permitting oil giants BP and Total to begin exploratory drilling in the Amazon Mouth Basin, reports The Drum.

Greenpeace fears the energy giants are just weeks away from winning permission to drill, prompting them to enlist the services of an ocean dwelling cartoon sponge to draw attention to the potential for ecological catastrophe.

Sara Ayech, Oil campaigner for Greenpeace UK, remarked: “Marine biologists are calling the Amazon Reef a new biome, a unique ecosystem, which had been thought impossible. But it is already under threat from BP and an oil industry willing to risk spills and worse in their pursuit of fuel which we cannot afford to burn.

"Wasting money prospecting for soon-to-be-stranded assets is unfortunate, but trashing one of the very few unexplored wonders of nature to do so would be unforgivable.”

The equatorial reef extends to 9,500 sq/km off the Brazilian coast, with authorities there set to sign-off or block nearby drilling later this month.

Greenpeace has calculated that any spill disaster has a 30% chance of reaching the Amazon Reef, a pristine ecosystem of pink corals, sunset-coloured fish and over 60 species of sea sponge.

BP is still recovering from the Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010, which saw five million gallons of crude oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico.

It’s not everyday that the world’s most famous sea sponge stands up to big business. But with more than 60 species of sponge living in the Amazon Reef, for SpongeBob, this is personal.

Here’s why SpongeBob is the perfect champion for the Amazon Reef:

1. He’s a seasoned activist

Anyone who’s watched an episode of SpongeBob will know that he’s a pretty progressive sea sponge. From raising awareness about climate change to protesting for workers rights against the wanton greed of his boss at the Krusty Krab, Mr Krabs, his determination to defend the Amazon Reef comes from a lifetime spent sticking it to the man.

He’s no stranger to direct action, either. In one episode, SpongeBob starts a campaign to save Jellyfish Fields and when it looks like all is lost, he stands in front of a bulldozer, gets arrested and then mobilises thousands of people to stop the bulldozer before it can destroy the pristine jellyfish habitat.

Needless to say, everyone at Greenpeace is a big fan.

2. His creator is a marine biologist

The creator of SpongeBob SquarePants, Stephen Hillenburg, is a marine biologist who came up with SpongeBob as a way to teach children about taking care of the ocean. Back in 1984 he wrote The Intertidal Zone, an informative comic book about tide-pool animals which he used to educate his students. It later became the blueprint for the show and thanks to SpongeBob, he won an award for raising awareness about marine life.

Side note: SpongeBob is popular with other scientists, too. A bunch of mushroom scientists, aka mycologists, discovered a species of fungus in Malaysia that produces sponge-like orange fruit bodies and smells ‘musky.’ It reminded them of SpongeBob so they named the fungi spongiforma squarepantsii. True story.

3. He lives in a coral reef

Despite looking suspiciously like a kitchen sponge, SpongeBob is a sea sponge and has loads in common with the sponges of the Amazon Reef. For starters, Greenpeace actually found a yellow, square(ish) sea sponge on their Amazon Reef expedition. A long lost cousin, perhaps? SpongeSteve RectangleTrousers.

What’s more, SpongeBob lives in a coral reef. It’s called Bikini Bottom and can be found below Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. His best friends are Patrick, a starfish, and Sandy, a squirrel dressed as an astronaut who lives in a glass igloo. His neighbour Squidward is an octopus (despite what his name would have you believe).

Alright, so the similarities don’t extend as far as all that but who knows – only a tiny fraction of the Amazon Reef has been explored. There could be a squirrel in an igloo down there somewhere!

4. He’s got loads of followers

SpongeBob has over 125 million followers across social media! Plus, if you use the internet, you’ve mostly seen a SpongeBob meme. From ‘mocking SpongeBob’ to ‘imagination SpongeBob’, they’re a viral sensation and have become a way for ideas, jokes and cultural observations to travel (warning: they can also be a bit NSFW).

5. He’s determined

SpongeBob is an extremely determined person, and will often stop at nothing to accomplish a task. That’s exactly the kind of attitude the world needs to save the reef!

His child-like world view means that SpongeBob approaches everything with extreme enthusiasm, even when the odds are stacked against him. He never gets worn down by the complexities of life or the relentless cynicism of his aquatic compadres, instead dedicating himself to his work and his friends in the belief that a better world is possible.

That’s why SpongeBob is the perfect champion for the Amazon Reef. Because he won’t stop trying until the planet wins. And neither will Greenpeace.

Nickelodeon Group Promotes Jamie Edelstein And Cheryl Konieczko To VPs

Nickelodeon has promoted Jamie Edelstein to Vice President (VP), Creative Operations, Advertising Project Management at Nickelodeon Group, and Cheryl Konieczko to Vice President, Franchise Creative Project Management. In their new roles, they will continue to report to Eric Squires, Senior Vice President (SVP) Creative Operations and Project Management, Nickelodeon Group.

In her new role, Edelstein will oversee the creative development and delivery of custom television, digital and print ads on behalf of Nickelodeon’s advertising and marketing partners. Most recently senior director, advertising project management, Edelstein has held several positions within the project management team at Nickelodeon, working on such accounts as Mattel, Toyota, Nintendo and Paramount Pictures.

Konieczko will be responsible for managing the creation and execution of all advertising and marketing initiatives for Nickelodeon’s franchise properties, as well as all corporate promotion and B2B (business-to-business) creative. She also will supervise third-party created advertising. Konieczko previously was senior director, franchise creative project management; prior to joining Nickelodeon, she worked in integrated marketing, brand creative and special events for various Viacom brands, and began her career as a production intern at MTV.

Nick Announces Call For Entries For The 2018 Nickelodeon Artist Program

Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, has announced that they are looking for entrants for the networks 2018 Nickelodeon Artist Program!

Nickelodeon can't create the most awesome kids television in the world without the most awesome artists in the world. Nickelodeon provides a six month position to aspiring artists and offers offer aspiring artists, with diverse backgrounds and experiences, the opportunity to hone their artistic skills while getting paid to work on Nickelodeon's 2D and CG animated television shows. Best. Job. Ever.!

Nickelodeon's Artist Program offers two creative avenues to pursue: The General Track and Storyboard Track. The General Track offers hands-on experience working with established color, background, character, and prop artists, while the Storyboard Track offers hands-on experience working with lead storyboard artists.

The Nick Artist Program 2018 submission period is now open and closes on Tuesday 1st August 2017.

Entrants to the 2018 Nickelodeon Artist Program must be 18 years or older to participate. You must possess and present evidence of identity and United States employment eligibility (valid for the duration of the Program). If you have previously applied to the Program and have not been selected, you are welcome and encouraged to apply again. However, you are required to submit an updated portfolio or storyboard, supplemental materials, and/or reel each time you apply.

Nickelodeon will notify each semi-finalists of their 2018 Artist Program by the end of September 2017, with finalists being notified no later than October 2017. Chosen artists will be notified no later than November 2017. (Notification dates are subject to change).

Nickelodeon Star Lizzy Greene Loves That Everyone Can Relate To "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn" | #NRDD

Lizzy Greene, who stars as Dawn Harper on Nickelodeon's hit sitcom Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, knows she owes a lot to the show for being where she is today.

In her cover story with Prune magazine, Lizzy opened up about acting on the popular Nick show, including how she got her breakout role!:

Prune: You currently star in Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn. Talk to me about the show.

Lizzy: The show is about quadruplets, three boys and one girl. I play the one girl, Dawn. The show is about going through life and growing up together. There is a lot of sibling rivalry, a lot of adventure, and a lot of funny things that go on in the show. It truly is amazing because it’s a show about family, which is my favorite thing. There’s a lesson at the end of every episode, and there is a learning experience with that quads always.

Prune: Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn is now airing its third season. How did you first acquire this role?

Lizzy: I got the role because I was very into theater and making people laugh. It was so exhilarating to me, and it was one of my favorite things when I first started. I did a lot of comedies and musicals. One day an agent came and saw me on stage, and they were interested in me. They ended up signing me, which led to a manager, which led to me coming out to LA and doing the base auditions for Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn. One thing led to another, and now we’re in our fourth season of the show. I thought my first audition was just for practice, and I never expected anything to come out of this, but it did. It’s all a strike of lightning for me and I’m so grateful for it.

Prune: The show has already been renewed for a fourth season. What do you think makes Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn so well liked?

Lizzy: It’s something everyone can relate to, which has been so cool for me. It’s been one of the popular shows in Nickelodeon for the past four years. It’s all about family, so it’s something that kids can relate to. It’s not far from reality. I love playing my character, Dawn, because it’s like playing myself.

Prune: What is it like to grow up in the spotlight?

Lizzy: At first I didn’t think much of it. I started getting recognized and realized it was a big deal. Something that I’ve learned is that it grows you up really fast. When I was little and would watch television shows, I didn’t think about how much went into it. Now that I’m living it, I have a greater respect. It’s cool for me, because there aren’t a lot of 14 years olds that work at all. I’m so grateful, I love to work hard. That is how I got here, I worked really hard. I love to stay busy, I love to stay perfecting my craft. I’ve come to love it so much, I truly would never wish for anything different.

Prune: Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn is your first steady leading role. How has the success of the show changed your life?

Lizzy: When I was first watching Nickelodeon and saw all the kids, I thought it would be so fun to be on a show. What is cool to me, is I’m now really good friends with people I used to watch on Nickelodeon before I was ever on TV. I get recognized at airports and grocery stores, and I’m always so grateful for the fans because that is what keeps the show going. There are little things here and there, like being asked to go to red carpets. I have such a respect for fashion, and I love it so much – it’s one of the things I would like to get into when I’m older.

Prune: Now that you’ve had a taste of acting, is this a career you will pursue for the rest of your life?

Lizzy: I do love doing this, and it’s something I’d love to do for the rest of my life. I would love to get into movies, and ideas with a more mature subject. I love horror movies, so I’d love to do that. I also love singing and fashion. I started out doing the talent show every year singing, so that is where I originated from. I’d love to get into singing more. I would also love to get into fashion business. My style has grown since I first started because I’m around all of these incredible fashion idols. I love fashion so much.
