Celebrated Marathi actress Archana Nipankar joins the movement to clean up Mumbai’s beaches, post Ganpati Visarjan


Mumbai: The network with a humane purpose, Viacom18, along with 700 student volunteers associated with the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) today supported the city civic authorities by organizing a clean-up drive across major beach promenades in the city! As a part of the Chakachak Mumbai initiative, Viacom18’s flagship CSR project, the organisation has been partnering with CMCA for 3 years now to support the annual beach clean-up post Ganpati Visarjan.


Joining the young volunteers were popular Nickelodeon toons Motu Patlu and Shiva, who encouraged and motivated them towards environment friendly living and responsible celebrations. Accompanying them was popular actor Archana Nipankar who plays Dipika in the popular Colors Marathi show Radha Prem Rangi Rangali.


Over 700 children from twelve schools assembled at various locations across the city to be a part of the beach clean-up. The beach clean-up is an annual event organized by CMCA, where scores of children from CMCA member schools participate to clean up the beaches after Ganapathi Visarjan.


Every year during the month of September, the streets of Mumbai play host to Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. A large section of the society is still unaware of the pollution and environmental damage caused by Plaster of Paris (POP) idols and chemical paints. CMCA has always stressed on the importance of celebrating festivals in a responsible manner. As part of the learning process, children conduct eco-Ganesha campaigns in their schools and neighbourhoods to spread awareness about the environmental impact of Plaster of Paris and to encourage people to celebrate festivals in an environmental friendly way.

Mumbai - A day after Ganpati Visarjan festivities, Bollywood and television celebrities like Shahid Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Niharica Raizada, Ritwik Sahore and Tanuj Mahashabde took to the Mumbai beaches for a clean-up drive.

Every year on the last day of Ganpati festivities, thousands of idols are immersed with processions that leave the beaches across Mumbai dirty. Several volunteers took to the city beaches on Monday morning, and celebrities turned up to support them and build enthusiasm.

Shahid and Amit were at the Juhu Beach clean-up drive.

Amit, who turned up early morning helping out the volunteers, said: "It's amazing that these kids woke up at 3:30 a.m. and came here to clean the beach but they can't do it everyday. So every individual in our country has to take onus. This is our home and until you have that feeling of ownership and responsibility, we won't be able to clean our country.

"Everyone knows what to do, where to go, only if you would think back to what your teachers taught you in school."

Niharica was at the Aksa beach said it's her first clean-up activity, but she said she will fulfil her duty as a good citizen of the country.

"This was my first experience coming here to clean the beach. I have been to Aksa Beach for shoots many times and I have always thought we have such beautiful beaches. Why don't people keep it clean? If we had started years ago, even we would have had clear blue beaches. The only message I want people to understand is to think about nature as much as they think about their family."

Dela Cruz will have a new generation of preschoolers searching for clues with the beloved energetic girl puppy Blue. Production on Blue’s Clues & You will commence this month in Toronto.

Joshua Dela Cruz is making his television series regular debut as the new host of Blue’s Clues & You. Netflix to Produce Live-Action Adaptation of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' [Updated W/Press Release]

Netflix has announced that it is set to produce a live-action series based on Nickelodeon’s mid-2000s hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is bringing aboard original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko as executive producers and showrunners! The new series will be made in partnership with Nickelodeon, with production to start in 2019. The new series will air exclusively on Netflix.

The original Avatar: The Last Airbender aired for three seasons (or "Books") on Nickelodeon from February 2005-July 2008, winning an Emmy in 2017 and a Peabody Award among other honors. The series followed main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation. A total of 61 episodes aired.

The series was praised for its animation, which adapted the fluid motions of martial arts into its system of elemental bending, for its world influenced by Asian culture, and for its strong characters and story.

The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has continued to live following the series' end thanks to a best-selling comic book series that's still producing original stories. It also spawned a live-action 2010 feature film, The Last Airbender directed by M. Night Shyamalan — which was not well-received. Konietzko and DiMartino also created a follow-up series, The Legend of Korra, that returned to the world of Avatar years after Aang’s death to follow his successor as Avatar. That series concluded in 2014,

The property has spawned a comic book and graphic novel series, and the home video compilation Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Complete Series is nearing $5 million in retail sales since its release earlier this year. The series of graphic trilogies are published by Dark Horse Comics and act as a continuation of the television series. These stories were written by Gene Luen Yang with artist Gurihiru. Faith Erin Hicks and Peter Wartman took over the series this year. The books include The Promise, The Search, The Rift, Smoke and Shadow, North and South, and Imbalance.

If that wasn't cool enough for fans, original composer Jeremy Zuckerman is said to be creating the musical score for the new series.

"Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to grow and resonate with fans around the world due its combination of relatable characters with all their foibles and a fully realized world of epic, high-stakes stories and adventures," said Chris Viscardi, senior vp animation production and development at Nickelodeon. "This partnership with Netflix is part of our broader efforts at Nick and Viacom to tap into our enormous library of culturally resonant properties to produce new interpretations, and we can’t wait for people to see Netflix's live-action version of Avatar."


The news follows Nickelodeon recently partnering with Abrams Children’s Books to produce a series of Avatar books about Avatar Kyoshi, the longest-living human Avatar in history at over 230 years old, whom fans know very little about. The news also follows Netflix debuting The Dragon Prince, a brand-new animated series helmed by Avatar producer Aaron Ehasz and director Giancarlo Volpe.

Nickelodeon have previously teamed up with Netflix. In 2017, the streamer debuted Greenhouse Academy, a English-language adaptation of Nickelodeon Israel's The Greenhouse. Netflix is also set to debut the brand-new Nickelodeon show Pinky Malinky soon.

The new series also falls in line with other remake plans from Viacom, which owns Nickelodeon and MTV. The late-night action cartoon Aeon Flux, which aired on MTV in the mid-’90s, is getting a live-action reboot as well, while Daria will return with a new take on the animated classic.

Attached to a tweet from preview account See What’s Next is a single piece of concept art by artist John Staub; it features the giant sky bison Appa with a tiny human we can only assume is Aang, our airbending hero.

A version of that art first appeared on creator Bryan Konietzko’s blog in July. He referred to it then as “a very old concept from Avatar, one of the earliest drawings I did for the project.” It’s interesting that this appears to be a reimagined take on that piece itself — a testament to this project at least trying to honor its roots.

Tristan's catalogue of work includes writing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and Ghostbusters comics, as well as serving as an illustrator on DC’s Doomed, Silent Hill, Ghostbusters, Mad Max: Fury Road, Riverdale, Jughead: The Hunger, Greg Rucka’s LAZARUS and a critically acclaimed run on ALIENS with Brian Wood. He also served as a concept artist on Ghostbusters 3, as well as numerous other film and comic book projects.

Nickelodeon Scandinavia to Premiere 'Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' on Monday 22nd October 2018

COWABUNGA! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon's brand-new 2D-animated series which reimagines the characters in a fresh new way, launching on Nickelodeon Scandinavia with a week of brand-new episodes premiering weekday mornings at 07:05 on Nickelodeon Denmark (Danmark) and Nickelodeon Sweden (Sverige) and 07:10 on Nickelodeon Norway (Norge) from Monday 22nd October 2018!

Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey emerge from the sewers and tap into undiscovered ninja powers in Nickelodeon's reimagined, 2D-animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which made its world debut on Monday 17th September 2018 on Nickelodeon USA. The action-comedy series follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. Following its US launch, the series is now rolling out globally across Nickelodeon's channels and branded blocks in 170+ countries and territories. The series follows the Turtles on all-new adventures as they master new powers, encounter absurd mutants and battle bizarre villains, each with their own motivations. Ranging from mystics, mutants and madmen, new creatures and villains emerge to take on Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey in battles across New York City. From the tallest skyscraper to the dankest sewer drain, the brothers learn to work together and navigate the perils of New York City and the hidden realms below in order to fulfill their destiny to become a team of heroes.

In the half-hour launch episode, "Mystic Mayhem," the Turtles discover for the first time that they're not the weirdest things in New York.


Update (24/9): To celebrate the launch of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon Scandinavia treated fans to a totally tubular sneak-peek on Monday 17th September 2018! Additionally, it's been revealed that Joakim Tidermark will be the Swedish voice of the Michelangelo!

The US-dub of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars the voice talent of Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raph, a jagged-shelled snapping turtle; Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leo, a red-eared slider turtle; Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donnie, a soft-shell turtle; Brandon Mychal Smith (You're The Worst) as Mikey, a box turtle; Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O'Neil, a street savvy native New Yorker; Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Splinter, father figure and sensei to the Turtles; and WWE Superstar John Cena as the villainous, Baron Draxum.

The line-up of guest stars voicing new mutants and bizarre villains in the US-dub of RTMNT includes: Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Big Mama, a gigantic spider mutant; John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect) as Warren Stone, a former news anchor turned mutant earthworm; Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Albearto, a singing, birthday-loving rampaging robot; Sam Richardson and Tim Simons (Veep) as Muninn and Huginn, gargoyles who are never far from their master, Baron Draxum; John Rotten Lydon (Public Image Ltd 'PiL' and Sex Pistols) as Meat Sweats, a power-hungry mutant pig; Rhys Darby (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Hypno-Potamus, a mutant magician/hippo; and Jorge Gutierrez (El Tigre) as Ghostbear, a human pro-wrestler champion with a taste for cheating.

In addition, Rob Paulsen (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Maurice LaMarche (Animaniacs) reunite behind the mic as Foot Lieutenant, the de-facto leader of the Foot Clan, and Foot Brute, the Foot Lieutenant's right hand man.

'Dora The Explorer' Comes to Life! First Photos from the Set of Paramount's New Movie!

Dora The Explorer comes to life! Child star Madelyn Miranda and teen star Isabela Moner arrive on set of the live action remake as filming begins in Australia!


Actress Isabela Moner, 17, was pictured arriving on set of the upcoming Dora The Explorer film in Queensland's Gold Coast on Wednesday 19th September 2018.

In the first photos emerge of the Paramount Players production, Isabela - who is best known for her role in 100 Things to Do Before High School, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day of the Soldado - appeared to be rehearsing lines for the new flick.

On-set images also revealed the live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon has required the construction of a large stilt house with a thatched roof.

Isabela, who plays a slighter older version of Dora than fans will remember from Nickelodeon's beloved animated preschool series, wore a striped shirt and styled her hair into a ponytail.

The movie will tell the story of Dora, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, but now must navigate her most dangerous adventure yet: high school. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.


Also pictured on set was child actress Madelyn Miranda, who plays young Dora in the movie. The young actor was dressed as Dora the Explorer, wearing a pink T-shirt, orange shorts and white sneakers, a look fans will recognise from the TV series, and was accompanied by a member of the film crew.

Production commenced on the Gold Coast of Australia in August 2018, with scenes being filmed at an impressive, custom-built stilt house.


Dora The Explorer is scheduled for release in August 2019 and is being directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords).

In an statement released in May, Lee Rosenthal, President of Physical Production for Paramount Pictures, shared his enthusiasm for bringing the production to Australia.

'We could not be more thrilled to be bringing Dora to Queensland and to be able to deliver Queensland for our film. In Queensland, we are able to get outstanding crew, stages and a variety of jungle topography and city backdrops in essentially one place,' he said.

The movie will also star Eva Longoria and Australian actress Madeleine Madden as Dora's mother and Sammy, the snooty class president at Dora's school, respectively.

It marks Madeleine's first Hollywood role since her celebrated performance in Foxtel's mini series Picnic At Hanging Rock.

The 21-year-old granddaughter of indigenous activist Charles Perkins will take on the role of Dora's friend Sammy, who she meets in high school.

Madeleine spoke of her rising status in an interview with JONES magazine earlier this year.

The actor revealed that her diverse background helped her deal with setbacks in the acting industry. '[The rejection] is something you learn along the way,' she said.

'But my family are all in the arts, so they understand the competitive nature of it, the big wins and big losses. But it is really important in this industry to have good people in your life.'

Premiere date: Dora The Explorer is scheduled for release in August 2019.

Nicktoons Africa to Debut 'MooseBox' on Monday 24th September 2018

Nicktoons Africa, Nickelodeon Africa's top-performing animation channel, will start to premiere and show Nickelodeon International's brand-new animated short-form series MooseBox on Monday 24th September 2018 at 16:25 CAT! The series (20 x 90 seconds) follows Moose and CatBox, two best friends who need each other to play, explore and survive a video game world called The Cube, and will air between Nickelodeon's hit animated comedy series SpongeBob SquarePants and Fairly OddParents.


If you love gorgeous pixel art, videogame-inspired settings and African made cartoons, Nickelodeon International's brand-new short-form series MooseBox is the show for you!

Created by South African animation director Mike Scott, MooseBox is one of the first short-form series to come out of Nickelodeon's world renowned Global Animated Shorts Program. Nickelodeon International greenlit the series for development in October 2017.

The original pilot below – which was produced by the well-known Cape Town studio Triggerfish Animation – was made for Nickelodeon International Animated Shorts Program 2013-14, and has been available to watch online for more than three years as part of Nickelodeon's Global Animated Shorts Program showcase. While Triggerfish handled the pilot, Johannesburg studio Mind’s Eye Creative is behind the series.

Following the series' African launch, MooseBox is expected to roll out on the Nickelodeon Play (Nick Play) app in several international markets soon after.

As a final extra bit of South African pride, Nickelodeon Africa has also told revealed that there’s more local content coming from them soon, including the brand-new CG-animated preschool series Munki and Trunk from Cape Town based animation studio Sunrise Productions, which premiered on Nicktoons Africa on Monday 2nd April 2018!
