Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Devs Tease Crossplay, Voice Acting in Future Updates

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will soon add crossplay during an upcoming update. Additionally, it has bean teased that voice acting is coming to the game.

During the top eight of Hungrybox’s The Box Championship Circuit: Invitational Finale, some of the developers for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl hopped on the stream to talk about some content and features that are being worked on for the game.

The event itself was powered by the NASB publisher, GameMill Entertainment, with English VTuber Lilybunn taking home the $1,500 grand prize with a 5-1 overall record.

During a recent Hungrybox stream, art director Diego Hernández spoke about a number of announcements and requested features that are set to be added into in the coming months.

While a specific date has not yet been confirmed, Hernández explained that crossplay will be entering the game in Q1 2022. The feature will allow All-Star Brawl players who own the game across any of its available platforms- PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S - to jump into battle against their friends regardless of whether or not they are both playing on the same type of device.

The dev team wanted to ensure that the game’s online netcode was stable and performing well before implementing crossplay, but after being on the market for two months, they feel now is a good time to finalize the rollout.

"We wanted to launch with crossplay," says Hernández in the interview. "But we came to the conclusion that we needed to wait a bit longer to fine-tune some of the details. We were just testing out the waters and seeing how the net code and everything worked first before introducing crossplay so I think it's finally time for it so we are confident about it and it's going to be out there soon."

While Hernández offered hard confirmation surrounding the arrival of crossplay into the game, it also appears that the game is set to add voice acting during a future update too. While not officially confirmed, Hernández explained that there was another popular fan-requested feature currently in the works by the development team.

"All I can say is that we have HEARD your requests, and we are HEARING what you're talking about." This teaser was then followed up by a further developer update on the game's subreddit, which stated "We've been HEARING your requests, and we'll make sure you'll be HEARING from us soon."

Elsewhere in the interview, Hernández announced that the game would be receiving its final free DLC character "in the near future" as well as a range of other (likely paid) content, including new stages, that will be coming to the game next year. The new character comes only shortly after the All-Star Brawl released its first free DLC character, Garfield. Prior to Garfield's arrival, rumors circulated speculating that fans wouldn't be able to play as the legendary lasagne-eating cat on Mondays - as per his notable disdain for the day - however, these turned out to be untrue.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is out now for consoles and PC.

Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Casts Roles of Azula, Suki, Yukari, Avatar Kyoshi and Gran Gran

NETFLIX'S AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER ADDS FIVE NEW CAST MEMBERS

ELIZABETH YU, MARIA ZHANG, TAMLYN TOMITA, YVONNE CHAPMAN AND CASEY CAMP-HORINEK TO JOIN LIVE-ACTION SERIES

· Today Netflix announced additional casting for its live-action epic adventure Avatar: The Last Airbender based on the beloved animated series from Nickelodeon. The series is currently shooting in Vancouver.

· Details on the new cast and the characters they will play:

· Elizabeth Yu (she/her; Untitled Ray Romano Film, All My Love) will play Azula, the intensely driven princess of the Fire Nation. A firebending prodigy and relentless perfectionist, she'll stop at nothing to secure her position as the heir to the throne.

· Maria Zhang (she/her) will play Suki, the intimidating leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, an elite female fighting force dedicated to protecting their community and upholding the ideals of their namesake, Avatar Kyoshi.

· Tamlyn Tomita (she/her; The Good Doctor, Cobra Kai) will play Yukari, Suki's mother and the fiercely protective mayor of her small village on Kyoshi Island.

· Yvonne Chapman (she/her; Kung Fu, Family Law) will play Avatar Kyoshi, a legendary warrior revered for her bravery, fearsome fighting skills, and uncompromising dedication to the cause of justice.

· Casey Camp-Horinek (she/her, Barking Water, Reservation Dogs) will play Gran Gran, Katara and Sokka's grandmother and the compassionate and wise matriarch of the Southern Water Tribe.

They join previously announced Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko (Azula's brother) and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Azula and Zuko's father, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Zuko and Azula's Uncle Iroh, Lim Kay Siu as Air Nomad monk Gyatso, and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao of the Fire Nation.

About Avatar: The Last Airbender

The series will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER reimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback's Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Goi, Roseanne Liang (also a co-executive producer), Jabbar Raisani and Jet Wilkinson direct.

Azula's mental deterioration and truly villainous acts over the course of the Avatar cartoon transformed her into a fan-favorite character, if only because fans loved watching Team Avatar overcome the hurdles she put in their way. Her brother, Prince Zuko has a love-hate — and at times hate-hate — relationship with Azula as he deals with jealousy over their father's love for her and not him.

Albert Kim took over as showrunner for the series after original series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko dropped out over creative differences. The live-action adaptation is pegged as an "authentic adaptation" of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender tells the story of Avatar Aang, an airbender who awakens after being frozen for years to a world taken over by the dictatorship of the Fire Nation. It's up to him, with help from waterbender Katara and her brother Sokka, to learn how to master all four elements — earth, air, fire, and water — in order to defeat the Fire Lord and save the planet's inhabitants.
