SpongeBob SquarePants Makes Surprise visit to County Durham school | Jeans for Genes Day | Nickelodeon UK

Schoolchildren in County Durham, North East England were treated to a surprise visit from SpongeBob SquarePants after flexing their creative muscles to design him some new gear!


Pupils at Sugar Hill Primary School, in Newton Aycliffe, welcomed the Nickelodeon megastar on Monday 24th April 2017 after youngsters won a national competition as part of Jeans for Genes Day with their ideas for his new pair of jeans.

Headteacher Paula O’Rourke said: “We were thrilled when we heard our school had won. “Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the parents for supporting the charity.”

The whole school was tasked with coming up with a new design as homework and was selected as the winning school out of hundreds of entries.


In first, second and third place were Charlie-Lewis Elder, Imogen Evans, and Conner Bennett. SpongeBob handed out prizes including a drum kit, scooter and games!

Pupils, who wore jeans for the visit, have helped raise £290 for Genetic Disorders UK.

Jeans for Genes raises money for Genetic Disorders UK and aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders. There are more than 6,000 genetic disorders. Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under.

The money raised during Jeans for Genes Day helps provide vital care and support to children with genetic disorders. The day invites people of all ages to leave their suits and uniforms at home and wear their denim jeans to work or school in return for a donation which will help change the lives of children across the UK. It’s important that as many people as possible pitch in.

This years Jeans for Genes Day will take place on Friday 22nd September 2017. For more information about Jeans for Genes Day, please visit JeansForGenesday.org.

Viacom Strengthens Multiplatform Capabilities with Launch of Global Product Development Group

New Global Organization to Build and Scale Play Plex & Other Digital Applications

Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) today announced the launch of the Global Product Development Group, a new, streamlined team dedicated to creating multiplatform products for audiences around the world, with a focus on video content.

The group has been charged with establishing a unified strategy for developing digital applications and websites for Viacom’s teen- and adult-oriented brands, including BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount Network, VH1, TV Land, CMT and Logo. It will work closely with Viacom’s brands and technology, ad sales and content distribution functions to ensure these products both enhance how audiences engage with Viacom’s content and support the Pay TV ecosystem, such as through the use of authenticated video.

Among the group’s initial priorities is expanding Play Plex, Viacom International Media Networks’ (VIMN) highly successful suite of mobile apps, to the U.S. and other key markets to create a seamless video-on-demand solution for global audiences. It is currently in the process of transitioning Viacom’s worldwide websites to a single web framework, which will ultimately help to deliver tailored content to audiences based on their geographic location.

Led by Dan Reich, who has been appointed Senior Vice President, Global Multiplatform Products, the Global Product Development Group brings together product teams from across Viacom’s adult brand portfolio, VIMN and corporate. In this expanded role, Reich will oversee the integration of these teams, fostering greater collaboration and helping to prioritize and scale resources. He will report to both Jason Jordan, Executive Vice President, Viacom Multiplatform Strategy & Operations, and Jose Tolosa, Chief Operating Officer, VIMN and Executive Vice President, Global Strategy, Viacom Media Networks.

His career with Viacom began in 2006 when he joined MTV Networks Digital Music Group as Manager of Strategy & Operations at URGE. Nickelodeon Renews "Hunter Street" For Season 2

Nickelodeon has renewed its adventure-comedy series Hunter Street for a 20-episode Season 2!


Hunter Street follows five foster children in Amsterdam who attempt to find out what happened to their disappearing foster parents, Erik (Ronald Top) and Kate Hunter (Tooske Ragas). In order to crack the case, the siblings set out on a quest for clues, leading them on an epic and suspenseful family adventure, including boat racing through canals, exploring secret tunnels and uncovering lost treasures. With obstacles at every turn, they must also fight off old family rivals and duplicitous heirs in order to solve the mystery.

Season 2 of the Nick series will feature new quests, more mysteries and a new Hunter sibling. Production will begin later this summer in Amsterdam.


Produced by Blooming Media, Hunter Street debuted on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday 11th March 2017, and is currently rolling out on Nickelodeon channels around the world. The series was co-developed with the Nickelodeon Netherlands series, De Ludwigs. Both productions share the same sets, scripts and production crew.

The 20-episode first season averaged a 3.2 with K6-11 and is one of the top five shows year-to-date with K6-11 across all TV. Hunter Street also had a special titled Clued In: A Hunter Street Special, which premiered on Friday 17th March 2017.

Nickelodeon Iberia To Premiere "Hunter Street" On Monday 15th May 2017

Nickelodeon Iberia enters the world of mystery and adventure in the brand-new live-action comedy adventure series Hunter Street, premiering Monday 15th May 2017 at 20:05 on Nickelodeon Portugal and 21:05 on Nickelodeon Spain (España)! Locally titled A Família Hunter in Portugal and El misterio de los Hunter in Spain, the new 20-episode series follows the journey of five foster kids on a quest to find their missing parents, Erik and Kate Hunter, after they mysteriously disappear.


After spending his first night in his new home, Max, along with new siblings Tess, Anika, Sal and Daniel wake up to find their foster parents, Erik (Ronald Top) and Kate Hunter (Tooske Ragas) have vanished. In order to crack the case, the Hunter siblings set out on the challenge of a lifetime whilst searching for clues, leading them on an epic and suspenseful family adventure, including boat racing through canals, exploring secret tunnels and uncovering lost treasures. To uncover the truth they will have to dig up secrets in their old Amsterdam canal home. With obstacles at every turn, they must also fight off old family rivals and duplicitous heirs in order to solve the mystery - all while running the family home!


In the series premiere of Hunter Street, "The New Hunter" (#101), Max wakes up in his new foster home to discover his foster parents have vanished. Max and his new brothers and sisters embark on an adventure to find them! Then, in "Saganash" (#102), the Hunters stay home from school to search for their missing parents and find more than they were expecting in the Hunter House Library. Anika leads a museum tour. In episode three, "The Secret Room" (#103), the Hunters siblings discover a secret room in the house, and a clue sends Tess on the trail of a mysterious figure!

Watch the mystery unfold as the siblings piece together evidence and discover shocking stuff they never knew about their parents! The mystery begins Monday 15th May 2017 on Nickelodeon Iberia!


Hunter Street stars Stony Blyden as street-smart Max; MaeMae Renfrow as the independent and resourceful sister Tess; Kyra Smith as the free-spirited youngest Hunter sister Anika; Daan Creyghton as Sal, the genius of the bunch; and Thomas Jansen as the fiercely protective eldest brother Daniel.

Annecy 2017 To Host "Rocko's Modern Life To The Loud House" Talk, Ft. Nickelodeon Creators Chris Savino And Joe Murray

Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy has announced the exciting news that Chris Savino, the creator of Nickelodeon's hit animated series The Loud House, and Joe Murray, the creator of the '90s Nickelodeon classic Rocko's Modern Life, and Robert Scull, the creator of Nickelodeon's upcoming brand-new preschool series Butterbean's Cafe, will lead a talk entitled "A Conversation with Nickelodeon Creators Joe Murray and Robert Scull" at the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market (MIFA) this June!


In the talk, the two Nickelodeon series creators will discuss their career paths in this Masterclass. Nickelodeon's Joe Murray (Rocko's Modern Life) and Robert Scull (Bubble Guppies) team up to discuss their journeys as show creators, how they bring their visions to life and their prolific careers in animation from the '90s until now. Plus, an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming Rocko's Modern Life TV movie. Moderated by Chris Viscardi (The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Snow Day, Inside-Out Boy, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Sanjay and Craig), Senior Vice President (SVP), Content Development, Nickelodeon Franchise Properties, the talk will take place on Friday 16th June 2017 between 4:30-5:45 p.m. at Bonlieu Petite Salle.

Every year in June, Annecy in France becomes the capital of animated film for six days. It is an opportunity for professionals and fans to discover new productions from around the world. Since 1960, the city of Annecy in Haute-Savoie has hosted the Festival International du Film d'Animation d'Annecy (Annecy International Animated Film Festival), an event that brings together fans and professionals of the sector. For six days, the city comes alive through screenings held in various venues across the city and on the Pâquier, a vast outdoor promenade along Lake Annecy. Each edition focuses on a different theme.

The festival also enables professionals to meet at the Marché International du Film d’Animation (Mifa, or International Animation Film Market). This three-day event is dedicated to the development of the animation industry to encourage the creation of projects and distribution of works, promote inter-professional exchanges and meetings, close partnerships and co-productions, and also discover the latest trends in the sector.

As part of this years event, Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market will also: host a special screening of the brand-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles short "Strike Hard" on Monday 12th June 2017 between 22:10-22:15 at Le Pâquier. Nina Hahn, SVP, International Production and Development and David Steinberg, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation Studios will also be speaking at this years Annecy festival, on Thursday 15th June 2017 and on Friday 16th June 2017 between 11:45am - 12:15pm at L'Impérial Palace Haendel B, respectively. Sarah Muller, Head of Children's at Channel 5 / Milkshake will also speak on Thursday 15th June 2017 between 09:30 - 10:00am at L'Impérial Palace Haendel B.

Additionally, Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy has announced the further exciting news that episodes of Nickelodeon's The Loud House, Nickelodeon International's upcoming animated series ToonMarty, and Nick Jr. UK & Ireland's popular animated preschool series Lily's Driftwood Bay and Puffin Rock, have been selected as finalists in Annecy's annual competition!:
