YTV Canada to Premiere New Hidden Camera Prank Show 'The Substitute' on Friday, May 17th, 2019

YTV is pulling the ultimate prank when Nickelodeon's brand-new unscripted series The Substitute premieres on Friday, May 17th at 6:00 p.m. (ET/PT). From the producers of Undercover Boss comes a new hidden camera show featuring celebrities who are transformed by a team of special effects artists to go undercover as substitute teachers, surprising classes of unsuspecting students.

The premiere episode guest stars Jace Norman (Henry Danger) as he goes undercover at Luther Burbank Middle School to prank students in a variety of subjects ranging from gym to science. Using full prosthetics and a fool-proof costume, a team of special effects artists transform Norman into a completely unrecognizable substitute teacher who is ready to give his students an unforgettable surprise. During the reveal, a $25,000 donation is made to the school. Additional episodes featuring different celebrities going undercover will be announced at a later date.

The Substitute made its world debut on Nickelodeon USA on Monday, April 1, 2019 as part of the network's April Fools Day line-up. The first series to air from the network’s recently announced refreshed content slate, The Substitute reached 4MM total viewers cumulatively across all four of its airings for the day. The Substitute ranked as the top show with Kids 6-11 in its time period across all TV, and it scored year-over-year double and triple-digit increases with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11, respectively. It averaged a 1.9/454K with Kids 2-11--up +36% over last year; a 1.4/212K with Kids 6-11--up +100%; and 866K total viewers, up+14%. Additional airings also ranked as the top telecasts with Kids 6-11 in their respective time periods (4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. [ET/PT]). The U.S. premiere of The Substitute also coincided with the 40th anniversary of Nickelodeon, which launched on April 1, 1979.

Norman currently stars in Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger, the number-one live-action show on TV with Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11*, and the Nickelodeon network’s longest-running live-action sitcom. Earlier this year he starred in his fifth role in a Nickelodeon TV movie, Bixler High Private Eye. He is also the co-founder of Creator Edge Media, an influencer marketing agency. (* U.S. ratings)

Episode two of The Substitute will guest star Canadian YouTuber Lilly Singh as The Substitute who fools the school. Lilly Singh's episode of The Substitute will make its world premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Saturday, May 18, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

Nickelodeon Latin America and Nickelodeon Brazil Premiere 'Club 57'

Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) will premiere Club 57 on Monday 6th May 2019 at 6:00pm on Nickelodeon Colombia, 7:00pm on Nickelodeon Chile, and at 8:00pm on Nickelodeon México and Nickelodeon Argentina! The series will also launch simultaneously on Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil), premiering at 19h. Club 57 made its world premiere on Rai Gulp in Italy in primetime on Monday 15th April 2019, and will also air on Argentina's Telefe in May 2019.

Nickelodeon Junior France to Premiere '44 Cats' on Monday 27th May 2019

Nickelodeon Junior France will premiere the brand-new CG-animated preschool series 44 Cats on Monday 27th May 2019! Created and directed by Iginio Straffi, the founder of Italian content powerhouse Rainbow Group, the makers of Winx Club and Regal Academy, and produced by Rainbow in collaboration with Antoniano Bologna and Rai Ragazzi, Nickelodeon Junior will launch 44 Cats, locally titled 44 Chats, by airing the first two 11-minute episodes of the all-new series at 20:00 and 20:10, respectively. Following launch, Nickelodeon France's top-rated preschool channel will continue to air two brand-new episodes of 44 Cats weekdays at 20:00 and 20:10.

Set in the world of animals, 44 Cats (52 eps x c. 13') follows the daily adventures of Lampo, Milady, Pilou, and Meatball – four adorable kittens who are part of a music band named The Buffycats.

The protagonists live and play in the Clubhouse, a garage beside old Granny Pina’s house. Their adventures explore the themes of friendship and altruism: the four cats love helping others and always find creative solutions to everyday hitches and help other cats in need. The series promotes positive attitudes and conveys educational messages dealing with important themes such as tolerance, diversity and solidarity in a funny way.

This eagerly anticipated show made its world debut on Rai Yoyo in Italy on Monday 12th November 2018. Rainbow has also secured a new licensing deal for 44 Cats with holistic lifestyle company Artsana Group. Under the agreement, the company will develop a range of licensed 44 Cats-themed infant educational toys for infants and a nursing line under its Chicco brand, the largest infant brand in Europe. The deal also includes apparel and accessories collections by Prenatal and Chicco. Products are expected to hit retail shelves later this year and will be supported by a dedicated, high-level marketing campaign delivered jointly by Rainbow and Artsana Group, which is also based in Italy.

44 Gatti become the most watched Italian-produced cartoon of 2018 when it debuted on Rai Yoyo on Monday 12th November 2018, recording record ratings of 527,000 viewers and a 2.71% audience share, helping Rai Yoyo to continue to be the most watched children's channel in Italy! Since its debut, 44 Gatti has also held the record for the highest viewing share amongst children aged 4-7 years, reaching 16% and an average audience of 350,000 viewers in the 19.15 timeslot.

Nickelodeon’s brand-new animated preschool series, Abby Hatcher (created and produced by Spin Master Entertainment), tells the story of a little girl with a big heart who helps her friends, the amazing and quirky Fuzzly creatures, fix their mishaps, learn from their mistakes and negotiate their emotions. Launching on Nick Jr. Poland (Polska) on Monday 27th May 2019 at 15:35, Abby Hatcher (26 episodes) features a social-emotional curriculum highlighting empathy, compassion and problem-solving skills. Dariusz Janczewski Leaves Viacom Polska

Dariusz Janczewski, who served as the General Manager (GM) of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Polska, has left the company, is reporting.

The Polish branch of Viacom International Media Networks is currently being headed by Katarzyna Samojluk, who has served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at VIMN Polska since 2014.

Based in Warsaw, Janczewski joined VIMN Polska in October 2012 as Vice President (VP) of Ad Sales and Country Manager at the company. He was promoted to GM of VIMN Polska since 2014.

His duties at VIMN Polska included supervising the sales department, cooperation with the Premium TV broker, and supervising all of VIMN's business operations in Poland. He was also responsible, among others for the financial result of the group in Poland and for overseeing the company's development strategy in the country in cooperation with the structures of VIMN North.

Prior to joining Viacom Polska, Janczewski held positions at OMD Media Direction, Ogilvy & Mather and Saatchi & Saatchi.

He is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University.

Nickelodeon Renews 'Ryan’s Mystery Playdate' for Season 2

Amid strong ratings and just days after its series premiere, Nickelodeon has ordered a 20-episode second season of Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, starring 7-year-old YouTube star of Ryan ToysReview! The renewal brings the series total to 40 episodes. Production on a new batch of 20-x-half-hour episodes will begin this summer.

The Friday, April 19 series debut was No. 1 in its 12:30 PM time period on all TV with kids 2-11. The premiere averaged a 2.1/518,000 with kids 2-11, up 24% over last year and up 11% from the premiere of The Substitute with K2-11. It delivered 999,000 total viewers, a 23% lift over last year’s levels.

Across the weekend (Friday-Sunday), Ryan’s Mystery Playdate reached 2.1 million Kids 2-11 and 5.5 million total viewers. The premiere saw a 33% lift in ratings in Live+3 with K2-11.

Viacom also revealed that 25% of the series audience is new to the Nickelodeon channel. Looking at the Live 7 lifts, the show is comparable to PAW Patrol.

In the series premiere, “Ryan’s Kickin’ Playdate/Ryan’s Viral Playdate,” Ryan is put to the test with challenges ranging from stacking pancakes to catching slimy frogs before meeting his highly skilled playdate. Then, Ryan must deflate a room full of whoopee cushions to reveal the identity of his internet superstar playdate.

Ryan’s Mystery Playdate is the second series launch from Nick’s new content slate. Also a solid digital performer, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate was a top property across Nick Jr., with over five million video views for the week. For the weekend of April 20-21, it ranked number one in full episode views.

'All That' Alums Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server are Back for the Revival - See the First Look

When All That returns to Nickelodeon this summer, there will be some very familiar faces helping usher in the new cast!

Now this is All That.

Back in February during Nickelodeon Upfront 2019, Nickelodeon announced that they were teaming with Kenan Thompson to revive All That, the beloved sketch show that launched the careers of Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Nick Cannon, and Amanda Bynes. On Thursday, the network revealed that Mitchell and fellow original cast members Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server, who were all a part of the debuting cast in 1994 and remained with the show for years, will guest-star in the reboot’s premiere episode, debuting this summer, helping to usher in the new cast.

Executive produced by Thompson, Mitchell and Kevin Kay, All That will feature a new group of kids, but, in addition to returning cast members, it will also revive some classic sketches like Good Burger, Vital Information, and Loud Librarian. The new cast of seven kids will be revealed at a later date.

Jermaine Fowler is serving as consulting producer on the All That revival.

The original All That ran from 1994-2005 on Nickelodeon. The sketched comedy series helped launch the careers of Thompson, Mitchell, Denberg, Server, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Gabriel Iglesias and Jamie Lynn Spears, among others.

The return of All That was announced in February 2019 and it's just one of the many revivals in the works at the kid-focused network. A new Rugrats series and movie is in production, as is a new Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie and miniseries.

"We have a laser focus on who kids are today, and what they want, so we are making a wider variety of shows and series for them, and we're working with brand-new kinds of talent and producers," Nickelodeon's president Brian Robbins said in a statement when the reboots were announced. "We have a new creative team in place and a renewed energy that we're harnessing to bring the buzz back to Nick."

The news follows Kenan recently surprising kid rapper Young Dylan with a guest spot on the All That reboot whilst appearing on The Ellen Show.

Talking about the revival earlier this year, Thompson told Page Six: “I think all the old cast members should come support the new cast members. That’s just how it should go,” he told us.

Former cast member Danny Tamberelli (The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Figure It Out) told Page Six of the revival, “I think it’s awesome!” He also said he would love to be part of the series if asked. “It was one of the best times of my life,” he said.

The show is set to premiere in summer 2019.
