Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand will premiere All New All That, a revival of the Nickelodeon's iconic '90s sketch series featuring a talented and diverse group of comedians who reflect the spirit and humor of today’s generation of kids, on Monday 10th February 2020!

Ranging in age from 12-15, each new All That cast member brings their own unique comedic skill to the show, from impressions of today’s biggest celebrities, to original characters inspired by their lives, to physical comedy sketches, revitalizing the series for today's audience. New original comedic sketches include “Cancelled with Nathan,” Bed, Bath & Beyoncé” and “Marie Kiddo.” Executive produced by original cast members Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, All That will air regularly on Nickelodeon in Australia and New Zealand.

The new Kids of Comedy are:

· Ryan Alessi – Born and raised in Chicago, Ryan Alessi, 14, began studying improv comedy at age eight with The Second City Improvisational Comedy Troupe. After moving to Los Angeles, he started studying with The Groundlings and developing his own characters and performing various impressions and accents.

· Reece Caddell – A Denver native, Reece Caddell, 12, started acting at the age of five and began performing sketch comedy when she started a YouTube channel with her two older sisters.

· Kate Godfrey – Kate Godfrey, 15, is an actress, singer and dancer from Scottsdale, Ariz. She began her career in her local community theater at the age of nine and was quickly accepted to the Broadway Youth Ensemble where she performed in New York City.

· Gabrielle Green – Gabrielle Green, 14, moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career after studying theatre at BAK Middle School of Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Fla. Her credits include acting, voiceover work and working as a brand representative.

· Nathan Janak – Originally from Sugar Land, Texas, Nathan Janak, 14, began acting at six years old. In 2016, he participated in a nine-month intensive actor training program and later moved to Los Angeles. Janak has previously been seen as a guest star in Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger.

· Lex Lumpkin – Lex Lumpkin, 13, is an actor, singer, writer, impressionist and pianist from Indianapolis. His acting career began two years ago when he played the role of “Stuart” in the Indianapolis Repertory Theater’s production of Stuart Little.

· Chinguun Sergelen – Raised in Chicago, Chinguun Sergelen, 13, began acting at age nine. He is a Youth Ensemble member at The Second City Training Center Chicago and Laugh Out Loud Theater.

· Aria Brooks – Joining the cast for the second half of the new season will be Aria Brooks from Atlanta, Georgia. Brooks’ career is on the rise. She plays a younger version of Harriet Tubman in the upcoming film Harriet and will be featured in Netflix’s Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings anthology.

In the series premiere, the new All That cast will be joined by original All That cast members Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server, who impart advice and words of wisdom to help the new cast sharpen their comedic skills. The episode will also feature a performance by Grammy®-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse trio Jonas Brothers of their smash hit “Sucker.”

Shot in front of a live studio audience, this season of All That will see beloved roles are reprised in some of the series’ most memorable sketches including Mitchell as Good Burger's "Ed"; and Denberg as “Ms. Hushbaum,” the hypocritical “Loud Librarian.”

The season will also feature musical performances from today’s hottest artists, including JoJo Siwa, Young Dylan, Ciara, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Ally Brooke, Kane Brown, Bryce Vine, Daddy Yankee and CNCO, with surprise guests from the worlds of TV, film, comedy and more. The series will also host a Zoey 101 reunion, which will see Jamie Lynn Spears with fellow Zoey 101 castmates Paul Butcher, Sean Flynn, Kristin Herrera, Chris Massey, Erin Sanders and Matthew Underwood in an all-new version of the sketch “Thelma Stump.” Shot in Los Angeles, Calif. in November 2019, the new sketch features Spears reprising her role as the bacon-loving bodyguard who attempts to stop the All That cast members and stars of Zoey 101 from entering the set.

The series also features a appearance from Alisa Reyes, who, along with Mitchell, Thompson, Denberg and Server, helped make the original series a ‘90s icon for an entire generation of kids.

The show's iconic '90s theme song, "All That", performed by TLC also makes a welcome return.

All That was Nickelodeon’s longest running live-action series with 171 episodes across 10 seasons from 1994 to 2005. The franchise paved the way for a number of successful spinoffs, including: Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show and The Nick Cannon Show; the feature-length film Good Burger; as well as audio recordings, books, festival tours, and numerous reunions celebrating the show’s impact on pop culture. All That was created by Brian Robbins and Mike Tollin.

All That helped launch the careers of comedy stars including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes and Nick Cannon, and has featured musical guests and guest stars including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond), Brittany Snow, and Tia and Tamera Mowry from Sister, Sister.

All That is executive produced by Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, Saturday Night Live), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, Sam & Cat, Game Shakers) and Kevin Kay (All That, SpongeBob SquarePants, Lip Sync Battle, Lip Sync Battle Shorties, Yellowstone). Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts, Sorry to Bother You) serves as a consulting producer. Production of All That for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Live-Action Scripted Content.

The All New All That made its world premiere on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday, June 15, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz’s Journey from Lemon Grove to Hollywood to Improve Latino Representation | The Casagrandes

Lemon Grove native Lalo Alcaraz has long been an advocate for better representation of Latinos in America. Now, it’s his day job.

A shy, but artistically-inclined kid from Lemon Grove has become a bold artist whose influence can be felt far outside Southern California — not just across the U.S. but around the world.

Lalo Alcaraz got his start as an editorial cartoonist at San Diego State University’s student newspaper The Daily Aztec before going on to create the first nationally-syndicated, politically-themed Latino daily comic strip, La Cucaracha. More recently, he’s worked as a cultural consultant on the Pixar film Coco and the upcoming animated Nickelodeon show, The Casagrandes.

The Casagrandes

“It’s a job I wish didn’t exist, you know, because if we had adequate representation, if we had culturally competent people that really knew their stuff, you wouldn’t need to drop me in from outer space on a project,” Alcaraz said at a panel at the L’ATTITUDE conference in San Diego last month. “To Pixar’s credit, they were like, ‘We want this done right.’”

He recently met with The Conversation podcast at The San Diego Union-Tribune to talk about growing up in the San Diego region, what inspires his art, the challenges of publishing an editorial cartoon in the politically charged climate of 2019 and how he’s taken all he’s learned to Hollywood.

Here are some excerpts of the interview. Listen to the entire conversation below.

What was growing up in the San Diego region like for you?

“I grew up a kind of typical Mexican border kid. My mom came through Tijuana. She lived there for 10 years in the ‘50s from 1948 to 1958 and then was undocumented for a bit and then got her papers as a nanny in La Mesa. My dad came, I think, through Texas from Zacatecas, Mexico. My mom came from Mazatlán, Sinaloa and they met at Helix High School, the high school I went to, in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class, sometime early 1961 or 1962. Their desire to assimilate and fit in and learn English — it only took my mom 50 years to learn English — got them together and created me. And then I eventually graduated from that high school. I’d like to find that class where they met and put a plaque... they’d remove it the next day. I grew up in Lemon Grove after living in various cities and back and forth — Logan Heights and Tijuana for a tiny bit — but I grew up basically in Lemon Grove. It was like Mayberry, but SoCal style. It was a time of, kind of a lot of racism and police profiling. We’d get pulled over on our bicycles by the sheriffs. My parents were treated pretty poorly and it made me the bitter old cholo that I am today.”

Would you say growing up here influences your art?

“It is everything. That’s what kind of sharpened my sense of injustice.”

How much of yourself do you put into the characters in La Cucaracha?

“They’re definitely me. Half of me is angry all the time, wants to tell everyone how they’re wrong constantly, never has an incorrect opinion, and the other half of me just wants to chill and sit on the couch and drink a beer and watch endless hours of crap TV. Preferably science fiction crap. ... I’m usually more of the angry cucaracha.”

How would you say life for Latinos in America has changed or not changed since you’ve started illustrating it?

“Sometimes I’ll see a cartoon from 1994 and all you have to do is change the date on it because obviously we’re living in a super, hyper anti-immigrant time — not everyone, I mean, where some people think it’s ok to be that way — so, you know, I think society goes in cycles instead of progressing forward sometimes, I feel. So things have changed, they haven’t changed. The thing that has changed is, you know, society’s catching up to the things that I was saying 25 years ago, especially stuff about show biz and representation and it’s just becoming a thing. That’s why I’m fully employed. I’m fully overemployed these days in Hollywood so, you know, we’re getting more representation, but it’s still not enough.”

What can you tell us about the show you’re working on now?

“I am a consulting producer, cultural consultant and gadfly and freelance writer on this show called The Casagrandes, and it’s on Nickelodeon. It’s for ages 6 to 11, and it’s the first animated show about a big Mexican-American family. It’s a spin-off from a show called The Loud House, which is one of the top shows there at Nickelodeon. The character, Ronnie Anne, is a little Mexican-American girl who was a super popular character on the loud house so they decided to spin that off, move her, her brother and her mom from Royal Woods, this Michigan suburb where The Loud House is set, to Great Lakes City, which is like a fake Chicago kind of amalgam of a bunch of cities — to go live with the mom’s family. They live in a big apartment building. The abuela, the grandma, is the building supervisor and they have a market, a mercado, on the ground floor. ... We’re making it as authentic as possible.”

Is it funny? Serious?

“It is very funny and it’s a good co-viewing show. I watched 10 years of Nickelodeon shows when my kids were little, so if you are that parent, you can watch this show because we sneak in a lot of funny adult things that kind of get by everybody but not the grown ups watching.”

The Casagrandes premieres Monday, October 14, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. Click the following link for more details!: http://nickalive.blogspot.com/2019/09/nickelodeon-reveals-casagrandes-theme.html

Which Casagrande are you MOST looking forward to learning more about? I'll ❤️ some of my favorite responses!

From USA Today:

America, love 'our food AND our people'

Lalo Alcaraz is a Chicano artist who served as a creative consultant on "Coco" and now on the Nickelodeon series, "The Casagrandes." He's also the creator of a daily comic strip, "La Cucaracha," and regularly draws up editorial cartoons. Contributed/Lalo Alcaraz

A week after the Academy Award nominations came out as white as ever, I talked via email to artist, producer and creative consultant Lalo Alcaraz about Tinseltown and his successful career. The creator of "La Cucaracha" — the first Latino politically themed, nationally syndicated comic strip — answered my questions from the Nickelodeon studios, where he's currently hard at work on a new show, "The Casagrandes."

Lalo, I remember when La Cucaracha first syndicated in 2002. And then I remember when papers started dropping it because it was too political and/or brown, then they’d pick it up again. Can you believe you’re still doing it?

Nope, I can’t! There were angry people campaigning against my little comic strip even before it officially launched. Overall, the whole ride of my national daily syndication has been pretty smooth. The newspaper business has never been easy, but now it’s much rockier, so there’s no one more surprised than myself that "La Cucaracha" is still making people laugh and cry angrily on the comics page after almost 18 years.

What was it like working on "Coco"?

It was a dream. I couldn’t believe a major studio like Pixar was interested in my opinion. But flying up to Northern California to work at Pixar, to give feedback to the whole team about an amazing and important film like "Coco," that was quite an experience. The directors, producers, the artists and voice talent were the best, and the visual artistry was mind-blowing, even in its raw form.

Did you know it was going to be such an amazing movie?

It was going to be such an important movie for Mexico, for Chicanos and Latinos and a major cultural touchstone, that it had to be done right. The work of our team of consultants and community members paid off in a big way onscreen and in the hearts of millions of people all over the planet. Pixar doesn’t mess around, they make good movies. We just helped them with a little extra amor.

Let’s talk Oscars ("Coco" won best animated feature in 2018). What was your reaction when you saw the nominees last week?

I’m never surprised when the Oscar nominations are not diverse. The past few years we have seen a slight improvement, with the work of Mexican filmmakers being recognized as top level. But yeah, I have no illusions that industry awards will be diverse if the content being green-lit by the major studios is still mainly centered around white characters and stories. Can Hollywood stop remaking “Little Women,” por favor??

Who/what were some of the most striking omissions? [...]

The most striking omissions are stories from the Latino community. I wish there were more performances to pick from ... Latinos over-index as moviegoers. Hey, Hollywood! We might go even more to the movies if we could see ourselves onscreen! Instead, Latinos are usually relegated to token roles at best, stereotypical roles at worst, but mostly invisibility.

You’ve worked in Hollywood for a long time now. Has it gotten better?

I’ve been working on and off in Hollywood for 30 years. Mostly off. Recently, I’ve had a pretty good five-year run. ... Hollywood is seemingly improving. There’s an increase in Latino actors and writers, plus shows featuring Latino-themed stories, but the opportunities still greatly lag behind our numbers.

And speaking of Hollywood, you recently started working on a Nickelodeon show called "The Casagrandes." Congrats! How’d you get involved and what do you do?

I’m consulting producer, cultural consultant and freelance writer. The Creative Producer Miguel Puga got me hired to help guide the cultural content of the show. I get to advise on stories, marketing, I chime in with jokes in the writers' room, and write scripts. I also help on every recording session, which basically means keeping accents and Spanish pronunciations as authentic and appropriate as possible, and coming up with alternative lines on the fly.

What do you hope it accomplishes, like politically or culturally or human-ey?

In this toxic anti-immigrant, anti-ethnic era in which we are all living through, it’s more important than ever to create art that shows minority communities as normal, funny, and as messed up as everybody else’s communities. In my opinion, Mexican-American /Latino families are the standard for tight-knit, loving familias. But it seems that the USA needs a little reminder that we are awesome.

America, you should love both our food AND our people.

I’ve always thought it would be hard to be a comedian nowadays — even SNL sometimes seems like a muted version of reality. How do you use what’s happening for your art?

Satire is in such a weird place now; reality outpaces it every day. I try to keep up with the news cycle by cranking out editorial cartoons on the subject of the moment. I don’t worry if my work is too hard-edged for people, because when the president calls my family rapists and drug dealers, and babies are being separated from their parents at the border and then caged, who has time for politeness?

All That's Kate Godfrey Teases One Of Her Fave New Characters, Reveals Her Dream Guest Star & More

All That is back with all-new episodes and the young cast is better than ever. HollywoodLife recently spoke with cast member Kate Godfrey about her favorite characters, her dream guest star, and more.

Kate Godfrey is one of comedy’s talented rising stars. She’s a cast member on Nickelodeon’s All That, America’s #1 kid’s sketch comedy show. The hit ’90s series returned in 2019 with a new cast and became an instant hit once again, bringing so many laughs with every single episode. The show, which airs on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, is starting the new decade off right with brand-new episodes and new characters fans are going to love.

HollywoodLife talked with Kate about her All That journey so far. She teased that there will be even more new musical and special guest stars in the upcoming episodes. Kate talked about finding one her “true loves” in performing comedy and working alongside her fellow cast members. She also revealed her dream All That guest star and her comedy inspirations.

What can fans expect from these next episodes?
Kate Godfrey: Fans can expect great new musical and special guest stars that have also been written into our sketches. There will be some fun music parody videos starring the All That cast. The writers have also created many new recurring characters that I think will be iconic and our audiences are going to love.

What is your favorite skit so far and why?
Kate Godfrey: It is very hard to pick a favorite sketch. I love Marie Kiddo because I actually get to break things, I love T. Smith because I get to sing, I love Brie Back From The Dentist because she is SO messy, and I love Tammy because well she is just Tammy, what can I say?

What’s something you’ve learned about yourself as you’ve filmed this first season?
Kate Godfrey: Something I have learned about myself is I really enjoy performing comedy. I always thought I would focus on the stage, singing, and Broadway, but I have found one of my true loves in comedy. It is such a rewarding feeling when you know your comedic choice was successful.

Is there a special on-set moment that stands out to you?
Kate Godfrey: I love the moment just before we go out on stage for the live audience. The energy is intense and we are all so nervous and excited; it is always very surreal.

What’s it like working with your fellow young cast members?
Kate Godfrey: Working with other kids is so much fun! We have the best time on set. We are genuinely really close friends, so I enjoy sharing this cool experience with them. This experience has connected us in some way forever.

Aria Brooks is the newest cast member — how has it been welcoming a new actor into the mix?
Kate Godfrey: At first, I was nervous about adding a new cast member. But as soon as I met Aria I knew she was going to fit in perfectly. We are so lucky to have Aria. She is extremely talented and always makes me laugh.

What’s the most challenging part about performing the sketches?
Kate Godfrey: The most challenging part of performing sketches is memorizing all the lines. We get changes every night, and only know our lines about twelve hours before we film them. It makes filming a sketch so much easier when I am confident in the memorization of my lines.

Which of your cast members makes you laugh the most?
Kate Godfrey: Is all of the above an option? All my cast members make me laugh so hard. There is never a dull moment on the set of All That.

Do you have a dream guest star that you’d love to have on the show?
Kate Godfrey: My dream guest star would be Taylor Swift because I have been a fan of her ever since I was little. I play a new character on the show called T. Smith, she is Taylor Swift’s biggest fan, which I relate to a lot!

Who are your comedy inspirations and why?
Kate Godfrey: I love Kate McKinnon (SNL, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call) because she can literally transform into anyone. One of our executive producers, Kenan Thompson, has also inspired me. He was one of the original cast members of All That in the ’90s and then worked really hard and has been a cast member on Saturday Night Live for the last 17 years. I would love to have the opportunity to work with Kate McKinnon and Kenan on SNL someday. That would be a dream come true!

Catch Kate on All That, Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT), only on Nickelodeon!

'Dora y la Ciudad Perdida' Now Available on DVD and Blu-ray in Spain

Dora y la ciudad perdida (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) is available to own on DVD and Blu-ray now in Spain (España)!

Visiting the Set of 'Hey Dude' in Tucson, Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. — If you were in kid in the late 80's you may recognize the theme song from Nickelodeon's Hey Dude.

The show premiered on Nickelodeon more than thirty years ago -- and it was all shot in the Old Pueblo.

KGUN9 recently visited the old set of the Bar None Ranch with a member of the production crew. It's located in a secluded, private area of the Tanque Verde Ranch.

"People come to the ranch specifically because they watched Hey Dude growing up," said Terry Hanley, the general manager.

The set certainly has seen better days. The roof has collapsed on some of the buildings and the awnings have caved in. At this point Hanley says it can be a safety hazard.

For David Valdez a walk around the dilapidated set truly is a trip down memory lane. He was part of the production crew. It was his job to help the directors run the show like a well-oiled machine.

"I love the industry so much," Valdez said. "I really did look forward to waking up in the morning and going. As first assistant director, part of your responsibilities is really just organizing the crew for the scenes that are being shot."

Valdez sure has a lot of fun memories from back in the day. He shared photos with KGUN9 from the set and even a blooper reel he put together.

Some of the actors went off to become big stars and writers and it certainly wasn't the first famous show in town.

"During that time period there was quite a bit of production in Tucson," Valdez said. "Film production I should say because of Old Tucson."

Decades later Mother Nature has run it's course on the Hey Dude location. Hanley said it was built for Hollywood and not built to last.

Even after a quick visit, it's easy to see why the views got cameras rolling.

"This is a pretty spectacular part of Arizona and it shows well -- so it truly depicts what ranching is all about," Hanley said.

Years after the last take, Valdez hopes Hey Dude will remind filmmakers of the potential you can find in the Sonoran desert.

"When you come to Tucson to shoot, or in Southern Arizona, you're coming for the landscape," he said. "There's no other place like Tucson and it's surroundings in the world."

Hey Dude was a comedy Western that followed a group of teens working on an Arizona ranch called the Bar None Dude Ranch. From the catchy theme song to the denim-on-denim outfits, the series tackled some important issues while still managing to be funny.

Hey Dude ran on Nickelodeon for five seasons between 1989-1991, totaling 65 30-minute episodes over three years. Hey Dude starred David Brisbin as Mr. Benjamin Ernst, Sr., ranch owner, Kelly Brown as Bradley "Brad" Taylor, a riding instructor from a rich Grosse Pointe, Michigan family, Debra Kalman as Lucy, a ranch hand, David Lascher (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Two of a Kind) as Ted McGriff, a senior staff member, Christine Taylor as Melody Hanson, a lifeguard and dance instructor from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Joe Torres as Danny Lightfoot, a Hopi Native American who was cast after auditioning in Tucson for the role, Geoffrey Coy as Kyle Chandler, Lucy's ex-boyfriend's son, Jonathan Galkin as Jake Decker, Mr. Ernst's nephew from Los Angeles, and Josh Tygiel as Benjamin "Buddy" Ernst, Jr., Mr. Ernst's son. Tygiel was one of 120 Tucson-area boys who auditioned for the series. "Hey Dude" was videotaped on location at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch near Tucson, Arizona. The show was produced by CineTel Films. Casting began in 1988 with local auditions held in Tucson. While most of the show was technically shot on the property of the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, the familiar "ranch" that was known to television viewers was actually built from scratch, roughly a mile away from the main public areas. This was done so ranch guests would not be bothered by the production and to create buildings with a more "western" look, which was not offered by the relatively modern and luxurious Tanque Verde. The main lodge, boys/girls bunks, guest lodge (which doubled as cast dressing rooms) and the stable were all built specifically for the production. After the show wrapped physical production, the buildings were abandoned, with several still standing to this day.

Melissa Joan Hart Reveals Her 'The Casagrandes' Role Made Her a 'Superstar' to Her Kids

Melissa Joan Hart's screen work may have been a staple of your childhood, especially if you grew up in the '90s when she was the teen star of both Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. But when it comes to her own kids, it took a voice role on The Loud House and its spin-off The Casagrandes to finally make her a hero at home.

Hart may be best known for her decades of on-camera roles, but she told TV Guide that she's "always tried to break into" the world of animation. So when the opportunity arose, she pulled a bit of a power move to get a voice role on the Nickelodeon series The Loud House knowing full well how much it might mean to her children.

"I was on call with [Nickelodeon] a while back about maybe rebooting Clarissa, and in that conversation I said, 'Well, I'd really like to be on The Loud House.' My kids love that show," she explained. "I luckily voiced the right character, so I got to be a part of The Casagrandes. ... My kids endlessly endlessly watch Loud House and The Casagrandes, so it's nice to be on something that my kids approve of."

In both The Loud House and The Casagrandes, Hart is the voice of Becca Chang, a zoologist who features prominently in Monday's (Jan. 27) new episode, and her work on the show has earned her major cool cred on the homestead. "They just started watching some Sabrina, but they've never really seen Clarissa. ... They don't want to watch things just because I'm in them, they want to watch them if they like them. And then because I happen to be in this one, I'm just kind of a superstar now in their eyes, finally."

Speaking of Clarissa, Hart revealed that, unfortunately, things are still currently on hold with the revival effort that first began gaining steam in 2018. "It's still on pause," she confirmed. "I don't really know what's going to happen with it, but I'm still hoping that maybe the right time and the right kind of situation arises for it to make a little comeback." Now that she is once again roaming the halls at Nickelodeon for The Casagrandes, perhaps things will come together soon for her to deliver more of Clarissa Darling's clutch life lessons once again.

The Casagrandes airs on Nickelodeon on weekdays at 7/6c on Nickelodeon USA.

Did you hear? Melissa recently reunited with Sabrina the Teenage Witch's Nate Richert (Harvey), David Lascher (Josh) and Elisa Donovan (Morgan)!
