"Happy Happy Joy Joy": 25 years of Nickelodeon cartoons celebrated in Fullerton

Before animation took off at Nickelodeon, the TV network for kids didn't have much in the way of original shows.

Then, in 1991, Nickelodeon ushered in a new era of groundbreaking animation on TV by launching the networks first three original animated series (Nicktoons): The Ren & Stimpy Show, a show full of crazed energy and gross jokes that followed adventures of a temperamental little Chihuahua and dopey Cat; Rugrats, based on the daily adventures of a group of babies; and Doug, about the friendships and trials of a sweet sixth-grade boy. The trio marked a major shift in kids cartoons.

Which All That Sketch Made The Cast Break Character The Most? - All That Reunion

On Saturday 16th April 2016, Nickelodeon's beloved sketch show All That turns 22, which means the Big Ear of Corn can officially blast Taylor Swift's "22," unironically, for the next 365 days. Prepare yourselves accordingly.

In celebration of the momentous occasion, The Splat reunited original cast members Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, Lori Beth Denberg, Danny Tamberelli, and Josh Server on Nickelodeon's iconic Orange Couch to discuss their most memorable moments and characters from their days on the set. These short interstitials will run all weekend long during The Splat's All That marathon weekend. So stop, look, and watch... it's an All That reunion!

MTV News has unveiled a exclusive look at one of the hilarious interstitials debuting this weekend. In it, the cast reveals the gut-busting sketches that made it unbearably hard to stay in character. Unsurprisingly, Mitchell's Coach Kreeton was a popular pick. (Inspired by one of his own coaches, Coach Kreeton also happens to be Mitchell's favorite character.) Meanwhile, Kenan Thompson's angry cafeteria lady Miss Piddlin was one of Server's personal favorites. Watch the clip in its entirety here on MTV.com!

NEW YORK–APRIL 15, 2016Nickelodeon recognizes extraordinary teen Allie Boyer for her work to help endangered orangutans in an eco-friendly episode of The HALO Effect, "Purses for Primates," premiering on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, at 8:30 P.M. (ET/PT). The episode profiles Boyer, a Chico, Calif., high school senior, who helps raise funds for the rehabilitation of orphaned or displaced orangutans by collecting gently used purses to resell at fundraisers. Airing monthly, The HALO Effect highlights teens who "help and lead others" (HALO) in their community and inspire others to do the same. "Purses for Primates" will encore Monday, April 25, at 8:00pm (ET/PT) on Nicktoons and Sunday, May 1, at 9:30pm (ET/PT) on TeenNick.

Boyer first developed a love for orangutans at the age of six. After learning how endangered they were due to deforestation, she started her own organization, Purses for Primates, to help bring awareness to the cause. With the help of Boyer's family, friends and classmates, Purses for Primates collects gently used purses to resell at fundraisers and donates the profits to Orangutan Outreach. In just six years, her organization has raised over $14,000 and is directly responsible for sending 14 rehabilitated orangutans back to a protected rainforest.

Additionally, Boyer has represented the U.S. at the SAGE (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship) World Cup in South Korea, receiving second place in the "Best Social Enterprise" category. In recognition of her outstanding leadership and hard work, Nickelodeon will award a $10,000 grant to Boyer's organization.

Melissa Joan Hart Reveals Mitchell Kriegman Is In Talks With Nickelodeon To Reboot "Clarissa Explains it All"

Melissa Joan Hart has revealed in super interview with Digital Spy that a Clarissa Explains it All remake is currently being pursued by the show's creator!

The star of the hit '90s Nickelodeon TV series - which ran from 1991 to 1994 - recently celebrated its 25th anniversary disclosed: "I think the Clarissa creator Mitchell Kriegman is trying to create a reboot with Nickelodeon.

"I think he's working on trying to come up with an idea, but nothing is in the works yet. If anything, Clarissa will be a little further along than Sabrina will be - but there's nothing solid yet."

To celebrate the comedy show's recent landmark anniversary, three-time Emmy Award-winner Kriegman released the book Things I Can't Explain: A Clarissa Novel.

"There's a novel out and my sister [Emily Hart] does the voice on the audio book," Melissa said.

Unfortunately, the Melissa and Joey star has also ruled out her involvement in a Sabrina the Teenage Witch remake.

The actress had said that the hit '90s ABC show could return while appearing on the Fab Life Show recently, but she's since revealed to Digital Spy that "no one has taken the approach to go ahead and do it right now".

"There's no reboot - just so you know," she told DS. "That's all rumours. There's nothing going on. I do think there will be a lot of people interested in doing it should something come about.

"There's tons of politics involved in this. No one has taken the approach to go ahead and do it right now."

Explaining her recent comments, she continued: "I was on a talk show and I was having a meeting at Netflix that afternoon, and I said that and everybody assumed I was going to do a reboot."

But the star was positive that if it "were to become a feasible thing, I think there would be a lot of people interested."

Melissa is still in touch with former castmates including Caroline Rhea, who played her on-screen aunt, Hilda, and Nate Richert, who starred as her on-screen boyfriend Harvey.

"I actually called Caroline Rhea yesterday (Tuesday, April 12) for her birthday, and I speak to Nate Richert who played Harvey from time to time.

"And Lindsay Sloane [Valerie Birkhead] who played my best friend in the early years. Beth Broderick was on Melissa and Joey recently, so we got to catch up which was lovely.

"And I'm still very close with Soleil Moon Frye [Roxie King]."

Sabrina the Teenage Witch ran from 1996 to 2000 on ABC, followed by The WB, and spanned a total of seven seasons. Both Clarissa Explains it All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch were firm fan favourites on Nickelodeon UK.

Melissa stars in the faith-based movie God's Not Dead 2.

Splatoon Asks SpongeBob SquarePants Fans: SpongeBob or Patrick?

April 14, 2016 09:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--What's the best crossover under the sea? SPONGEBOB SPLATFEST!

On April 23, Nintendo is partnering with Nickelodeon to bring a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Splatfest competition to the Splatoon game for the Wii U console. Players will be asked to declare their allegiance to either the world's most lovable sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants, or his starfish sidekick, Patrick Star, from Nickelodeon's animated television show SpongeBob SquarePants. SpongeBob and Patrick will feel right at home in the squid-themed Splatoon game. Squidward was not invited.

"Two international pop culture sensations meet when the SpongeBob SquarePants Splatfest comes to Splatoon," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Fun partnerships like this take advantage of the crossover appeal that family-friendly franchises like Splatoon and SpongeBob provide. Personally, I'm team SpongeBob all the way."

Splatfest is a recurring online competition that asks players to pick a team – in this case, either SpongeBob or Patrick. Once players choose a side, they'll receive a free in-game T-shirt adorned with an image of SpongeBob or Patrick for their character to wear as they compete in the online multiplayer Turf War mode to see which team comes out on top. At the end of the Splatfest competition, the side with the most points is awarded Super Sea Snails (no relation to SpongeBob's pet, Gary), items that allow them to upgrade gear in the game. The SpongeBob SquarePants Splatfest competition kicks off in Splatoon on April 23 at 6 a.m. PT and runs until April 24 at 12 p.m. PT. This also marks the first Splatfest in which players from North America and Europe can be matched together. Splatfest is open to all Wii U owners who have the Splatoon game and an Internet connection.

Splatoon, which is exclusive to Wii U, represents Nintendo's take on the action-shooter genre. Characters called Inklings can transform into non-Squidward squids as they attempt to cover the play area with their team's colorful ink and splat opponents. Using an array of inventive weapons, players cover the playing surface with as much of their team's colorful ink as possible before time runs out. More than 4 million units of the game have been sold worldwide. For more information about Splatoon, visit http://splatoon.nintendo.com/.

SpongeBob SquarePants has emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon since first premiering on Nickelodeon in July 1999. The series has been the most-watched animated program for more than 14 consecutive years, and is seen in over 185 countries and translated in more than 50 languages. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimistic and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

Remember that Wii U features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu.
