From El Intransigente América News:

‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Spinoff ‘The Patrick Star Show’ Reportedly in the Works at Nickelodeon

The Patrick Star Show, a SpongeBob SquarePants animated spinoff starring SpongeBob’s best friend, Patrick, is in the works at Nickelodeon!

Update (8/22) - ViacomCBS has confirmed plans for The Patrick Star Show, and has applied to patent the show with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under the categories of " Games; toys; sports equipment", "Clothing; footwear; headgear" and "Education; entertainment". All three applications are currently pending.

On the new series, the pink starfish will continued to be voiced by the character’s longtime SpongeBob voice actor Bill Fagerbakke, a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.

Deadline has learnt that Nickelodeon is currently finalizing deals for The Patrick Star Show, and that voiceover recordings already have started for the project, which is expected to receive a 13-episode order and comes from the creative team behind the mothership series.

According to sources, The Patrick Star Show is in the vein of The Larry Sanders Show and Comedy Bang! Bang!, with superstar sea star saviour Patrick (Fagerbakke) hosting his own late-night talk show. Deadline hears the series would revolve around Patrick and his family. Fagerbakke is being joined by a largely new cast voicing new characters, with SpongeBob cast members expected to make occasional appearances, reprising their respective roles.

In early 2019, Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins announced that the network would be developing its first spinoff projects with SpongeBob SquarePants characters, and was exploring, among other options, “an original story about SpongeBob and Patrick, or a Sandy Cheeks stand-alone story.”

“That’s our Marvel Universe,” said Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins at the time. “You have this amazing show that’s run for almost twenty years.”

Reps for Nickelodeon declined to comment Monday.

It's currently unknown whether The Patrick Star Show will be produced in 2D animation or CGI.

The project is not the only upcoming SpongeBob offshoot series, joining the previously announced prequel Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years. That show — which recently moved from Nickelodeon to CBS All Access, where it will debut next year as part of the rebranded service — will see a 10-year-old SpongeBob during his summer at the eponymous camp. In the series, SpongeBob and his pals spend the summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral.

The Patrick Star Show joins other animated projects coming to Nickelodeon, including the Real Pigeons Fight Crime adaptation executive produced by James Corden and Ben Winston and Middlemost Post from John Trabbic III, another Spongebob vet.

Since its launch July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the number-one kids’ animated series on TV for the last 17 years, while generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base. Created by the late animator and marine biology teacher, Stephen Hillenburg, the cartoon’s massive popularity has led to two feature films, 2004’s The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie and its 2015 sequel, "Sponge Out of Water", as well as a Broadway musical. A third SpongeBob SquarePants movie, Sponge on the Run, is set to debut digitally in the U.S via premium video on demand in early 2021 and then move exclusively to CBS All Access, ViacomCBS’ subscription video on demand (SVOD) and live-streaming service, following the premium video-on-demand window. Outside North America, the movie will debut on Netflix.

Fagerbakke is probably best known for playing Dauber on ABC’s Coach for nine years; he also was involved in its scrapped 2015 reboot series for NBC. The veteran actor played Jason Segal’s dad on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother and recurred on Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here and Netflix’s Unbelievable. He is repped by Main Title Entertainment.

Even JoJo Siwa Can't Believe Her Jaw-Dropping Makeover From James Charles

JoJo Siwa said goodbye to glitter and rhinestones in a shocking makeover from YouTuber James Charles. Watch the beauty transformation unfold below!

JoJo Siwa continues to surprise fans with her makeovers. The latest one includes a no bow, no rhinestones, no glitter, glamorous look done by James Charles. The YouTube beauty blogger posted a video on Friday where he does the former Dance Moms star's makeup -- and the results are flawless!

For nearly two years, Charles was hoping to hang out with the one and only Siwa. Fortunately, the beauty expert received his wish in a new YouTube video posted on Friday, Aug. 21.

While the twosome are quick to discuss Dance Moms and reminisce about teenage life, fans can't stop talking about the makeover James gave JoJo.

"This is my dream and my nightmare at the same time," JoJo shared in the video that is already approaching close to two million views. "Getting my makeup done No. 1 is just a no. I like to do it. I don't let anybody else do it. It's just a no. My hair? Even more so. You get one try."

With his own successful beauty brand and experience as a makeup artist, James got to work and delivered some results you have to see to believe.

"I don't know how you got me to do this," JoJo shared before seeing the final look. "I have no idea."

So did she like it? The answer is... yes!

"I will say it's very pretty and you did a wonderful job on the hair and the makeup. The makeup is stunning. It's very pretty," she explained. "It's obviously not me. You know how I showed up here in sparkles and bright pink and neon and rainbow but it is really pretty.

"I feel like a different version. I feel like I'm Joelle right now."

Makeovers and makeup aside, James was able to ask JoJo a few questions including what dreams she hopes to achieve in the years to come.

According to the Nickelodeon star and social media phenomenon, she would love the chance to perform on one of the biggest stages in the world.

"My next big goal is I want to perform at the Super Bowl. That's a major thing I want to do," she revealed. "I love performing. Performing is like my No. 1 thing. It makes me the happiest. I love doing it. I want to keep being on tour...and hopefully eventually I'll be at the Super Bowl."

Following the video, fans couldn't help but rave about Siwa's look, with NikkieTutorials, whose real name is Nikkie de Jager, commenting on Twitter on how much the dancer and her looked alike.

Earlier this year, Siwa shocked fans when she ditched her signature blonde hair and bow for a new brunette look. However, just days after she showed off her darker locks, she was back to blonde.

"We back," she wrote alongside a June TikTok. On her Instagram, Siwa also showed off the lighter shade in a picture where she is smiling and holding up a peace sign.

"Brown hair was fun.... but blonde is my thing," the entertainer captioned her pic.

JoJo returned the favor in a second video by giving James a makeover!:

Your Burning 'Legend of Korra' Questions, Answered

Just finished The Legend of Korra? We answer your burning questions about Korrasami and more

The Legend of Korra made its Netflix debut last week, and given how enthralling and action-packed the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series is, tons of new fans have probably already sped through all four seasons (or "Books") by now.

Fortunately, NickALive! is here to answer all your burning questions about LoK, Korrasami and more!

First things first: Is Korrasami canon?

Yup. In a Tumblr post published just days after the series finale originally aired in 2014, co-creator Bryan Konietzko put an end to any doubts.

"Korrasami is canon," he began the post.

While the writers didn't plan for Korra and Asami to get together from the very beginning, Konietzko said he started cautiously toying around with the idea as they wrote book 1.

"We never assumed it was something we would ever get away with depicting on an animated show for a kids network in this day and age, or at least in 2010," he wrote.

Working within Nickelodeon's limitations "to how far we could go with it," Konietzko and co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino strived to make Korrasami as "unambiguous" as possible, and Jeremy Zuckerman's "tender and romantic" score was a big part of it.

Another way they emphasized the relationship was by having the two women at the end turn "towards each other, clasping both hands in a reverential manner, in a direct reference to Varrick and Zhu Li's nuptial pose from a few minutes prior."

Still, while he hopes the series was a step forward, Konietzko acknowledged they could've done more with Korrasami.

"Was it a slam-dunk victory for queer representation? I think it falls short of that," he wrote.

What's the fate of Korra and Asami after Legend of Korra?

Fans should be happy to find out that Korra and Asami are a bona fide couple in the LoK comics, the first of which was published in 2017. The creators had a hand in the two Dark Horse graphic novels, with DiMartino writing the stories for both.

The first book, Turf Wars, immediately follows the events of the series finale and focuses extensively on Korra and Asami's relationship. After their romantic getaway, the two return from the Spirit World to discover that Avatar World is plagued by some of the same prejudices and struggles as our own.

Turf Wars was followed by the multi-volume Ruins of the Empire, which features the trial of would-be dictator Kuvira, as well as Korra, Asami, Mako, and Bolin butting heads about the right solution to rising tensions. The last volume of Ruins was released in February.

What happens to the other characters?

I'll leave some suspense for you, but the fates of certain characters are too juicy not to share. After Zhu Li "did the thing" by marrying Varrick, she did another thing — she became the president of Republic City! She was elected after her commendable efforts helping refugees displaced by the invasion of the United Republic of Nations, and she even made Bolin her assistant. However, the earthbender, along with brother Mako, Asami, and Wu, ends up getting brainwashed in the comics, so read the books to find out what happens to them after all…

What should I watch after Korra?

I get it — it's hard to take in a world without Avatar content to watch. But it's not the end just yet. Nickelodeon recently released on its Twitch channel the unaired pilot for ATLA, which is markedly different from the series we know and love. It was part of The Last Airbender: Origins special, which dove into how the world of Avatar was created.

Fans can also subscribe to Nickelodeon's official Avatar: The Last Airbender YouTube channel, which features clips and montages from both series, as well as rare shorts, such as Chibi-style Super Deformed Shorts and Republic City Hustle. You can also pick up the DVD and Blu-ray versions of Avatar and Korra for exclusive extras, such as behind-the-scenes featurette, audio commentaries and animatics.

Many ATLA and LoK fans also recommend animated series like The Dragon Prince, created by ATLA alum Aaron Ehasz; Steven Universe, another fantasy series with LGBTQ themes; and She-Ra & The Princesses of Power, a Netflix show that similarly features strong women, queer representation, and complex storytelling.
