'The Patrick Star Show' One of the Two Most-Watched Kids Shows on TV During 3rd Quarter of 2021

It's official - The Patrick Star Show is a hit! ViacomCBS today revealed as part of the company's 3rd quarter 2021 financial results that the series, a spin-off from Nickelodeon's beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants which follows a younger Patrick Star living at home with his family, where he hosts his own variety show for the neighborhood from his television-turned-bedroom, was one of the two most watched Kids shows on cable TV during the period, along with PAW Patrol!

Longtime voice of Patrick Star, Bill Fagerbakke lends his voice as the young adult Patrick alongside new cast members: Tom Wilson (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Cecil Star, Patrick’s fun-loving, happy-go-lucky dad who always puts his family first;  Cree Summer (Rugrats) as Bunny Star, Patrick’s loving, sea star mom who is a kooky oddball; Jill Talley (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Squidina Star, Patrick’s 8-year-old little sister who drinks her coffee from a sippy cup; and Dana Snyder (The Penguins of Madagascar, The Thundermans, Welcome to the Wayne) as GrandPat Star, Patrick’s genius grandpa, and the most intelligent member of the Star family. Summer also voices Grandma Tentacles, Squidward’s grandma.

Additional cast members include veteran actors Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

Marc Ceccarelli (SpongeBob SquarePants), Vincent Waller (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jennie Monica (SpongeBob SquarePants) are co-executive producers of the series.  The Patrick Star Show is developed for television by Claudia Spinelli, SVP of Animation Development, Nickelodeon, with production overseen by Kelley Gardner, Vice President, Current Series, Animation, Nickelodeon.

The Patrick Star Show made its world premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in July 2021.

Since its launch July 17, 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the number-one animated series on TV for the last 18 years, while generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base.  SpongeBob SquarePants is the most widely distributed property in ViacomCBS Networks International history, seen in more than 170 countries and territories, translated in 30+ languages, and averaging more than 100 million total viewers every month. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon in Burbank. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurable optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

- Announced Broad Distribution Agreement with T-Mobile to Provide Its Customers with Paramount+

"ViacomCBS continued to show tremendous momentum across the business as we executed against our strategy. We added 4.3M global streaming subscribers, raising our total to nearly 47M, driven by the scaling of the diverse content offering on Paramount+. Looking forward, we're thrilled about the fresh array of content coming to Paramount+ in the next few months and can't wait to share it with our global audience. Our strategy is clearly working and we'll continue to use the power of global content, distribution and market expansion to drive scale."

- Advertising revenue grew 1% year-over-year, reflecting an improved advertising marketplace, partially offset by lower linear impressions, lower political advertising, and the absence of CNET Media Group ("CMG") as a result of its sale in the fourth quarter of 2020.

- Affiliate revenue increased 2% year-over-year, reflecting higher reverse compensation and expanded distribution.

- Streaming revenue rose 62% year-over-year:

-- Streaming advertising revenue grew 48% year-over-year, driven by growth in advertising on Pluto TV and Paramount+.

-- Streaming subscription revenue grew 79% year-over-year, reflecting strong subscriber growth from the company's subscription services.

- Theatrical revenue reflects the releases of Paw Patrol: The Movie, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, and the second quarter release of A Quiet Place Part II, while the prior-year period was impacted by the closure or reduced capacity of movie theaters in response to COVID-19.

- Licensing and other revenue, which includes fees from the licensing of our internally produced television and film programming across third party platforms, as well as fees generated from home entertainment, consumer products, and live events, increased 18% year-over-year.

- Global streaming subscribers rose to nearly 47M, adding 4.3M subscribers in the quarter.

-- Subscriber additions in the quarter were led by Paramount+.

--- Domestically, Paramount+ saw strong subscriber sign-ups and engagement from a variety of content, including A Quiet Place Part II, Paw Patrol: The Movie, as well as the start of the NFL season.

--- Internationally, Paramount+ launches to date have had strong momentum, led by progress in Latin America, Brazil, Australia and Canada.

-- SHOWTIME OTT benefited from originals, including Billions, American Rust and The Chi.

-- Announced the signing of SkyShowtime, a joint venture with Comcast that will include premium and original content from both companies.

--- SkyShowtime will reach more than 20 European territories encompassing 90 million homes.
Pluto TV revenue grew 99% year-over-year, as MAUs increased to over 54M in the quarter, helped by international growth.

- In Q3, CBS was the most-watched network in Daytime and Late Night. Hits like The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Big Brother were leaders in their respective categories among key demos.

- Revenue grew 24% year-over-year, primarily driven by higher licensing, streaming, and affiliate revenue, partially offset by lower advertising revenue.

-- Advertising revenue decreased 2% year-over-year, primarily reflecting an unfavorable comparison to the prior-year revenue benefit from political advertising and the absence of CMG, partially offset by an improved advertising market in 2021.

-- Affiliate revenue grew 4% year-over-year, driven by growth in reverse compensation.

-- Streaming revenue rose 81% year-over-year, reflecting subscriber and advertising growth at Paramount+.

-- Licensing and other revenue increased 79% year-over-year, driven by the timing of program availability primarily due to COVID-19 production shutdowns in the prior-year, and a higher volume of domestic licensing.

- Adjusted OIBDA decreased 21% year-over-year, reflecting the company's increased investment in Paramount+.

- In Q3, ViacomCBS had the most programs among the top 25 original cable series among P18-49, P18-34 and K2-11, more than any other cable family, including the top two Kids programs with Paw Patrol and The Patrick Star Show.

- Revenue increased 13% year-over-year, reflecting growth across all revenue streams.

-- Advertising revenue increased 6% year-over-year, largely driven by an improved advertising marketplace, partially offset by lower linear impressions.

-- Affiliate revenue grew 1% year-over-year, reflecting expanded vMVPD distribution and rate increases, partially offset by subscriber declines.

-- Streaming revenue increased 53% year-over-year, largely fueled by advertising revenue growth from Pluto TV, as well as growth in subscribers for subscription streaming services.

-- Licensing and other revenue increased 23% year-over-year, primarily driven by the licensing of programming to Paramount+.
Adjusted OIBDA increased 5% year-over-year, reflecting the above-mentioned revenue growth, partially offset by an increased investment in streaming services and a higher level of original programming.

- Revenue declined 2% year-over-year, driven by lower licensing revenues, partially offset by the benefit of current quarter theatrical releases.

-- Theatrical includes revenues from the third quarter releases of Paw Patrol: The Movie, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, and the second quarter release of A Quiet Place Part II, while the prior-year period was impacted by the by the closure or reduced capacity of movie theaters in response to COVID-19.

Kids and Family Programming the Most Streamed Content on Paramount Plus During 3rd Quarter of 2021

Bob Bakish, the President and CEO of ViacomCBS today revealed during the company's Q3 2021 Results Earnings Call that kids and family content was the most streamed content on Paramount+ during the third quarter of this year, with over half of the platform's subscribers streaming kids and family content from Nickelodeon!

Additionally, Bakish revealed that PAW Patrol: The Movie was one of the top movie titles on Paramount+ during the financial quarter!

Speaking during the earning's call, Bakish told investors: "[L]ook at the third quarter. Starting with kids and family content, which was the top genre on Paramount+ for both acquisition and engagement in the quarter. In fact, over half of our subscribers streamed kids and family content from our globally loved Nickelodeon brand. What’s even more impressive is that content consumption was balanced across new originals and library, both film and television, including enduring franchises like SpongeBob and PAW Patrol and young adult content, such as the new iCarly. Movies are also proving to be a key attraction to the service. And as we continue to experiment with different [re]lease strategies, we are seeing success across all of them. This quarter, A Quiet Place Part II and PAW Patrol: The Movie were the top two titles for acquisition and engagement on Paramount+. And the results were impressive, both in theatrical and on Paramount+. And following the global success of PAW Patrol: The Movie, we are thrilled to announce the sequel, which will debut in 2023. In addition, a new PAW Patrol spin-off series for Nick and Paramount+ is in development. This is ViacomCBS franchise management ratcheting up to the next level. Next week, we have another family film day and date theatrical and Paramount+ Premiere with Clifford the Big Red Dog, which is tracking very well."

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl: Nintendo Switch Will Get Major Update on Nov. 4

Following Nickelodeon all-Star Brawl's initial release last month, there have been a few significant patches that have dropped for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game. However, the Nintendo Switch version of the platform brawler is still currently locked to update 1.0.1. This is the day 1 patch that rolled out for all platforms. However, that's about to change!

Thaddeus Crews, Ludosity developer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, has confirmed that Nintendo Switch players will soon be updated to the same version of the game as the other platforms. The patch is scheduled to drop on November 4, 2021 — this Thursday.

"FINALLY can confirm that the Nintendo Switch version is getting the patch this Thursday," said Crews over Twitter this week. "This will bring the same fixes and features as the versions currently on PC and other consoles."

The upcoming patch will increase the directional influence (DI) window, remove several infinite combos from the game, and also add dash dancing, said Crews.

Predictably, there have been a number of issues in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl that have cropped up since the game's initial release. While many of these issues have been directly addressed on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions, Nintendo Switch owners have still been dealing with these problems.

At this point, it's been accepted that Michelangelo was the strongest character in the day 1 patch version of the game. This was mostly thanks to the properties of his neutral light aerial and his ability to stall out games with his infinite jump cancellable down special.

Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob SquarePants series also served as a problem for the game as it was impossible to perform a tech (quick get up action) against her jab combo in certain circumstances. This made Sandy Cheeks extremely obnoxious to fight against as she basically had an inescapable infinite combo.

Crews also provided a breakdown of each update introduced so far, explained which version is running on each platform, and gave a peek at what’s to come in future patches:

• 1.0.0 - Day 1 Patch (current for Switch)
• 1.0.1 - Jablock Infinite Removal
• 1.0.2 - DI Adjustment, Dash Dancing (current, upcoming for Switch)
• 1.0.3 - Hurtbox Adjustment, Initial Dash Boost (upcoming)
• 1.0.4 - Hitbox Adjustment, [REDACTED]
• 1.0.0β - Release version

Below is a list of all patch notes we should expect for the Nintendo Switch version on Thursday. Note that these notes come from what was changed on other platforms. There are no new changes listed below:

• Fixed Sandy's jab lock infinite.

• Fixed Michelangelo's infinite jump from down special.

• Fixed Powdered Toast Man not having a respawn effect.

• Fixed jab reset effect triggering when it shouldn't.

• Fixed tech not activating as intended if landing from launch state.

• Fixed selection disappearing when pressing down in last region.

• Now auto region is selected when there's not a preferred region saved.

• Fixed characters animating at half frame rate on Rooftop Rumble, Royal Woods Cemetery and Traffic Jam while playing online

• Increased global DI window (10° to 16°)

• Updated pixelated images in gallery

• Fixed certain recovery moves not activating as expected when performed immediately after leaving launch state

• Implemented dash dancing: turning around out of a run begins an immediate run in the opposite direction

• Performing a dash dance starts a 15 frame warmup before a dash attack can be input. On the 16th frame and beyond, conditions for dash attacks return to normal

• Added missing localized words on the options menu

• Fixed Traffic Jam Bus not rendering properly on Low setting

• Removed outermost hitboxes on neutral air

• Increased down special x-speed multiplier (1.75 to 1.85)

Netflix's Live-Action 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Series Hiring 'Huge Number' of Stunt Performers, Martial Artists, Dancers and Movement Specialists

Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is in the midst of hiring a “huge number” of stunt performers, martial artists, dancers, and movement specialists!

With filming set to start in Vancouver in just under three weeks, the production of Season 1 of Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is enlisting a “huge number of players” for the show, looking for “Asian & Indigenous performers with martial arts or dance backgrounds” and “movement specialists”, a source close to Avatar News has revealed.

This is particularly interesting as "Book One: Water" (and of course all of ATLA) features key epic battles and lots of intense fight choreography, of course both with and without bending. The fact that they’re going big with it… can’t deny the hype.

The series is set to star actors Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu portraying the likes of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko respectively.

Update (11/4) - Netflix is reportedly looking to cast more key players for the show, speculated to portray characters such as Uncle Iroh, Princess Azula, Gyatso and Zhao!

Original Host Kirk Fogg Returns to The CW's ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ Reboot

’90s Nick Kids rejoice! The CW’s reimagining of Nickelodeon's classic Legends of the Hidden Temple game show will welcome back its original host, Kirk Fogg!

Fogg will make the return beginning this Sunday, Nov. 7 for a four-episode arc, where he will serve as the contestant mentor as they take on the Temple Run. These appearances will have him reuniting with long-time associate, Dee Bradley Baker (Star Trek: Prodigy), who reprises his role as the voice of Olmec, as well as his blue denim shirt.

This reboot shares many of the original elements of the show — Olmec, the Steps of Knowledge, Temple Guards, Moat Crossing, team names — but with a more “grown-up” appeal, including bigger stunts and, this time, adult contestants.

Fogg shared a photo of the two on set. (Left: Fogg, Rright: Baker)

Fogg’s appearance on Sunday, November 7 will also mark another reunion, as this week’s episode will feature contestants who first appeared on the original ’90s Nickelodeon version of the show.

Fogg previously returned to Legends of the Hidden Temple for Nickelodeon's hit live-action movie inspired by the iconic game show in 2016.

Legends of the Hidden Temple airs Sundays on The CW at 8 p.m ET/PT. Check out the season trailer below:

Legends of The Hidden Temple | Coming For You | Season Trailer | The CW

Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. - The Hindu Legend of Rama: CONTESTANTS FROM THE ORIGINAL SERIES RETURNS TO COMPETE AS A TEAM - Contestants Josh and Nick competed on the original series as kids back in the '90s and return to team up as the Blue Barracudas hoping to make it to the Temple Run and the chance to win $25,000. Cristela Alonzo hosts (#105).

From TMZ:

With OG Contestants!!!

Get ready for a blast from the past ... Kirk Fogg says he's coming back as one of the faces of the rebooted '90s kids game show, "Legends of the Hidden Temple."

We got the former Nickelodeon host outside Starbucks in Studio City and he dished on what's to come in the rebooted CW version of 'Hidden Temple.'

Kirk doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag but he just can't hold his tongue ... telling us he's returning as a co-host Sunday alongside new host Cristela Alonzo ... and it doesn't sound like it's a one-episode deal.

Remember ... we also got Kirk back in May and he liked one of our photog's pitches on potential contestants.

Well, as it turns out ... Kirk says he was able to make the vision a reality ... and some contestants from the OG show, which he hosted for 3 seasons in the '90s, are getting a redo!!!

Kirk also gives us his thoughts on the new host and new look ... and tells us some fun stories from Olmec's original labyrinths.
