Busted, Becky Hill and Union J Join the Sold Out SLIMEFEST 2018 UK Line-Up

Busted, Becky Hill and Union J join the sold out slimiest music festival for kids taking place from 20th – 22nd October at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena



London, 26th September 2018 – The chart-topping full line up for Nickelodeon’s SLIMEFEST in partnership with VisitBlackpool has been revealed!

On Saturday 20th October Busted and M.O take the stage, Sunday 21st October will welcome Becky Hill and Union J with DJ Ironik, and on Monday 22nd October Jonas Blue and HRVY perform.

Update (27/9) - Houssein will reportedly be performing at SLIMEFEST 2018 on Monday 22nd October, however, this has yet to be confirmed by Nickelodeon.

They will be joined by resident acts at all shows across the weekend: JoJo Siwa, Max and Harvey, Diversity, Kira Kosarin from The Thundermans and hosts Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely.


Busted returned to the stage after a 10-year absence in 2016. The BRIT Award Winners sold out a whopping 18 arena shows, including two nights at The O2. The release of their critically acclaimed new album “Night Driver” followed, supported by primetime TV appearances on X Factor, Graham Norton and Children In Need. In 2017 they then embarked on a global headline tour, with sold out shows across the UK and as far afield as Tokyo, Los Angeles & Barcelona, a support slot with Ed Sheeran at the Royal Festival Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust, and a headline grabbing performance at Glastonbury where festival organisers were forced to shut down the field due to overcrowding. They are working on a new album this year.


Becky Hill has found huge success since appearing on The Voice, her Oliver Heldens collaboration “Gecko (Overdrive)” reached No.1 in the UK. “Piece of Me” and “False Alarm” were her next singles. Wilkinson’s “Afterglow” featuring vocals from Becky was a top 10 hit as well as topping the UK dance chart and attaining Gold certification. She released “Sunrise in the East” in June, the first from her new album and her latest single “Back and Forth” with MK/Jonas Blue was released on 7th September. It’s had an incredible 3.6 million streams on Spotify to date. After working with singer songwriter MNEK, her album is set to be released later this year.


Union J, who have had 4 x consecutive Top 10 singles and were born from the X Factor originally, have been away working on new material following a recent sold out UK tour. Their track “Alive” went straight into the Top 40 on iTunes and their newest single with DJ Ironik “Dancing” was released in August. They have been busy working across LA, Dubai and the UK with the team at RU Listening and a host of superstar producers including Damon Thomas (Justin Bieber, Ciara, Chris Brown) and Alan Sampson (Zayn, Craig David). The results show a more refined, mature sound that is sure to cement Union J as one of the UK’s most loved and prominent boy bands in the UK.

Over 12,000 people attended the six sold out shows in 2017 with performances from Diversity along with 7 chart topping acts: Pixie Lott, The Vamps, Professor Green, Matt Terry, New Hope Club, 5 After Midnight and M.O. Walmart Launches '90s Nickelodeon Mini Cups, Hip Flask and Giant Mug

If you grew up in the '90s, the names Angelica, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil should most definitely ring a bell. The Rugrats babies were a core part of the '90s Nickelodeon. And while they live on in many childhood memories (who can forget that theme song?!), and soon back our television screens again in Nickelodeon and Paramount's Rugrats revivals, they can now become your new drinking buddies, too.

Last week, while wandering through a Washington state Walmart, Delish's Madison Flager spotted some very familiar looking babies in the party supply aisle. The show's core characters, plus Angelica's doll Cynthia and the kiddos favorite dinosaur, Reptar, are featured on adorable four-packs of "unbreakable mini cups" - perfect for big babies!

Also in the party aisle: a very specific slime green-colored flask (Slime Time Live, baby!) featuring both Rugrats and Hey Arnold! characters, plus The Ren & Stimpy Show's titular characters. This guy is $7, and would make for an A+ stocking stuffer, if I do say so myself.

Watseka Park, IL to Host Worldwide Day of Play Event on Saturday, Sept. 29

Saturday is a day for kids to play.


Watseka, IL - The Watseka Park District is taking part in Worldwide Day of Play, Nickelodeon's summer-long play campaign, a slime-filled cross-country tour that celebrates all the ways kids love to play!

It’s been eight years since the last one in Watseka and there’s been a calling to bring it back, park district executive director Sherry Johnson told the Iroquois County's Times-Republic.

The first one brought out 140 kids, and this year, she said, she’s already had a lot of kids signing up. Preregistration is encouraged, but kids won’t be turned away if they aren’t.

Kids can be checked in at 1 p.m. and parents are asked to pick them up at 3 p.m.

“There’s a lot of fun activities planned for the 120 minutes,” she said. There are 13 stations planned and “The time goes by fast.”

Stations like volcanos and ice cream and media monster will be set up, as well as a kids ID station and soccer shootout.

Groups and businesses set to help out that day include the Elks, Masons, Girls Scouts, ISAS, Watseka Neighborhood Watch, Iroquois Memorial Hospital and the Times-Republic.

Worldwide Day of Play began with the television station Nickelodeon encouraging kids to go outside, enjoy the fresh air and, hopefully, sunshine.

“It’s to get kids to move, laugh, have fun, get outside,” said Johnson.

On Saturday, if it rains — “nasty and horrible” — she said the park district will post it on its website and Facebook page. She said she’ll try to reschedule it not knowing what date it would later be.

Worldwide Day of Play is Nickelodeon's summer-long play campaign, a slime-filled cross-country tour that celebrates all the ways kids love to play.

On the ground, Nickelodeon will celebrate with over 4,000 events hosted by local and national partners including: Afterschool Alliance; Boys & Girls Clubs of America; Girl Scouts of the USA; Kiwanis International’s Builders Club and K-Kids; Laureus Sport for Good; National Fitness Foundation; NFL PLAY 60; Playworks; Police Athletic League; Special Olympics International; The Aspen Institute’s Project Play; The Association of Children’s Museums; US Play Coalition and USA BMX. Additionally, the network will launch two new grant programs in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good and National Fitness Foundation in honor of Worldwide Day of Play’s 15th anniversary.

Nickelodeon will commemorate Worldwide Day of Play on-air on Saturday, September 29 with interstitials featuring cast members from Nick’s hit series I Am Frankie. The interstitials, which highlight the importance of physical play in kids’ lives and encourage them to get outside and get active, will air across all Nickelodeon platforms.

In addition to hosting nationwide grassroots events with its partners, the network will also mark Worldwide Day of Play with the launch of two new grant programs in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good, funding underserved communities’ afterschool programs, and National Fitness Foundation along with DonorsChoose, which will fund in-school activities. Both grant programs aim to bring fitness and play to kids across the country.

In May, Nick kicked off its summer-long play campaign, a slime-filled cross-country tour which visited: Phoenix, Ariz.; St. Louis, Mo.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Houston, TX and Oakland, Calif.; for Worldwide Day of Play events in partnership with the Children’s Museum of Phoenix; The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum; the Pittsburgh Steelers; Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Harris County Precinct One; and the After-School All-Stars, the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland A’s Community Fund.

The tour culminates in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Sept. 15, with Nick teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City’s Walk for the Kids. The fun-filled event will feature appearances by stars from Nickelodeon’s hit series I Am Frankie, Alex Hook, and Carson Rowland; Nick-themed games and activities; a slime booth; costumed characters; a Nick Radio dance party and more. The network will be joined by longstanding partners including: Canine Companions for Independence; Jr. NBA; KidTribe; MLB “PLAY BALL;” New York Red Bulls; NFL PLAY 60; Peppa Pig and George; Playworks; The Muddy Puddles Project; Tough Mudder’s “Mini Mudder” and USA BMX; and new partner Nike.

Nickelodeon is expanding Worldwide Day of Play’s reach through a new partnership with Mini Mudder, Tough Mudder’s one-mile Mud Run designed for adventure-seeking kids and consists of eight to ten fun and challenging team-focused obstacles. In celebration of Worldwide Day of Play, Mini Mudder will add a brand-new Nickelodeon-themed “Slime” obstacle to its courses, providing kids with the opportunity to be physically active while also having fun.
