Nickelodeon Italy Hails "Una Notte All’Acquario Con Spongebob" Competition A Sponge-Tastic Success

Nickelodeon Italy (Italia) has announced the exciting news that its "Una notte all’acquario con Spongebob" contest has been a Sponge-Tastic success!


Launched in September 2017 in collaboration with Acquario di Genova, "Una notte all’acquario con Spongebob" offered 11 lucky families the chance to spend a night in a specially designed SpongeBob SquarePants-themed room set up in the tunnel of the Padiglione Cetacei, just in front of the dolphin pool, so that they could spend the night under the sea, just like SpongeBob SquarePants! Each family was also given the opportunity to discover, with the help of experts of the Acquario di Genova, the secrets and the most important information about the fish and aquatic animals who live in the aquarium, how the aquarium takes good care of them, and it's conservation projects it undertakes to save some of the most endangered aquatic species.


"Una notte all’acquario con Spongebob" ended in April 2018, with the final winning family enjoying a stay in SpongeBob's room on Friday 4th May 2018.


During the eight months of the competition, in addition to the winning families, Nickelodeon and Acquario di Genova also invited several VIP families with children to enjoy the SpongeBob room - all of which were enthusiastic about this fantastic opportunity! The first famous mother was Tania Cagnotto, then waiting for little Mia, followed by Alena Seredova, Federica Fontana, Alessandro Cattelan and his wife Ludovica Sauer, Beatrice Valli and Marco Fantini, Fabio Caressa with his wife Benedetta Parodi, and finally, “Mamma che Riccanza” Katia Pedrotti and Ascanio Pacelli. Each family slept with their kids in SpongeBob's room under a clear blue sky, where the dolphins swam like shooting stars.

Grazie ad una collaborazione nata nel 2012 tra Nickelodeon, il brand di Viacom International Media Networks Italia per ragazzi e famiglie presente in esclusiva su Sky (canale 605-606), e l’Acquario di Genova, è nato il progetto “Una notte all’acquario con Spongebob”, un incredibile concorso che Nickelodeon ha ideato per i suoi numerosi fan.

Il concorso “Una notte all’acquario con Spongebob” è stato lanciato da Nickelodeon nel mese di settembre 2017 e ha offerto a 11 famiglie, fortunate vincitrici, la possibilità di trascorrere una notte nella stanza di Spongebob appositamente allestita all’Acquario di Genova nel tunnel del Padiglione Cetacei di fronte alla vasca dei delfini, proprio come dormire in fondo agli abissi. Ma non solo, a ciascuna di loro è stata data anche la possibilità di scoprire, insieme agli esperti dell’Acquario di Genova, i segreti e le informazioni più importanti dei pesci e degli animali acquatici ospitati nelle vasche, conoscere come la struttura se ne prende cura e i progetti di conservazione su alcune specie a rischio.

Il concorso si è concluso ad Aprile e proprio lo scorso venerdì, 4 maggio, l’ultima famiglia vincitrice, di cui alleghiamo una foto, ha dormito nella stanza di Spongebob, l’icona pop di Nickelodeon.

Durante questi 8 mesi di concorso oltre alle famiglie vincitrici, Nickelodeon e Acquario di Genova hanno ospitato anche diverse famiglie vip con figli, tutti entusiasti di questa grande opportunità! La prima mamma celebre è stata Tania Cagnotto, allora in attesa della piccola Mia, seguita poi da Alena Seredova, Federica Fontana, Alessandro Cattelan con la moglie Ludovica Sauer, Beatrice Valli e Marco Fantini, Fabio Caressa con la moglie Benedetta Parodi, per finire con la “Mamma che Riccanza” Katia Pedrotti e Ascanio Pacelli. Tutti questi ospiti hanno dormito con i propri figli nella stanza di Spongebob sotto un cielo blu limpido, dove al posto delle stelle c’erano i delfini.

Da lunedì 7 a domenica 13 maggio, il canale Nickelodeon + 1 (canale Sky 606), il brand di Viacom International Media Networks Italia per ragazzi e famiglie, si è trasformayo in “Danger&Thunder Channel”, un canale pop up dedicato esclusivamente alle due serie televisive più amate dal pubblico di Nickelodeon:
“Henry Danger” e i “Thunderman”. Così per sette giorni, 24 ore al giorno, Nickelodeon + 1 ha trasmesso doppi eroi e doppie risate. Una programmazione speciale con in onda tutte le stagioni e gli episodi speciali delle due live action più amate.

“Danger&Thunder Channel” è stato molto apprezzato ha infatti ottenuto un ascolto medio di 6.3mila spettatori con il 3.7% di share sui kids 4-14, arrivando al 5% di share nel giorno di picco, giovedì 10 maggio. Il canale pop up ha aumentato la media di canale del +188% in ascolto e del +196% in share.

Il Network Nickelodeon nella scorsa settimana è stato #1 editore dell’area kids di Sky: ha generato un ascolto di 13.2mila spettatori e una share vicina all’8% sul core target 4-14 con una crescita del +48% in ascolto e del +67% in share, contribuendo per quasi il 40% del totale area kids di Sky. Il canale Nickelodeon (Nickelodeon 605 +pop up channel 606) grazie anche alla performance molto positiva del pop up è stato #1 canale kids dell’offerta Sky, ottenendo 9.4mila viewers e 5.5% di share sui 4-14.

Molto positivi i risultati di tutto il Network Nickelodeon nella prima metà di Maggio: #1 editore con un ascolto di oltre 11mila spettatori e una share del 6.3%. Nickelodeon si posiziona #2 canale dell’area kids & family di Sky mentre Nick Jr si conferma leader dell’offerta pre-school di Sky.*

Viacom Revamps Latin American Production Division [Updated]

Viacom is set to adapt a number of Alfred Hitchcock movies into television series in Latin America, partner with Italy's Rainbow Group for a brand-new Nickelodeon Latinoamérica series, and is on the verge of selling two Portuguese-language originals to major SVOD players as it ramps up its content strategy in the region.

The company is officially launching Viacom International Studios, which brings together its Latin production divisions including Telefe’s studios, Brazilian comedy unit Porta dos Fundos and Viacom’s own branded production unit, at the LA Screenings later this week.

The Latin arm of the U.S. media giant is ramping up its production strategy as it looks to take on the likes of Mexico’s Televisa. Pierluigi Gazzolo, President, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Americas, told Deadline, “We want to become one of the largest Latin America content providers.” The company is looking to produce around 1,000 hours of original content across the newly rebranded unit by the end of this year and over the next few years it wants to have close to 2,000 hours of content, including formats and scripts, that it can sell around the world.

The move comes after Viacom acquired Argentinean broadcaster and producer Telefe in 2016 for $345m. While Telefe previously produced a raft of programming in its own market, it didn’t exploit this and rarely owned international rights. It has now taken control of these global rights to allow it to monetize them around the world. “The disruption of the last five years, the way that we think of content, is changing drastically so we need to take advantage of that because we own our content. We have the ability to move that content in any form we want,” said Gazzolo.

Viacom International Studios has four priorities. Firstly, it is looking to produce original content for its own networks as well as striking co-productions, such as its latest deal between Nickelodeon and Rainbow Group (Winx Club, Regal Academy, Mia and me, Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends) in Italy for Club 57, a 60-part time-travelling musical series about a science-loving girl who accidentally travels back to 1957.

Set to start filming this summer, Rainbow Group will retain the rights to Club 57 in Italy and represent the IP for consumer products globally, whilst Viacom International Studios will handle distribution of the property for the rest world of the world.

It is also looking to produce original content for third-party broadcasters and is on the brink of closing two landmark deals for long-form content from Brazilian comedy producer Porta dos Fundos. It is negotiating deals with SVOD players for Borges, a show about an import export company that turns into a YouTube channel, and Homens, a Sex and the City-style show for men. Both series will be produced in Portuguese but the company is also working on Spanish-language versions as well as English-language versions for its own Comedy Central channels.

There will also be a renewed focus on formats, particularly looking to strike remake deals for 100 Days To Fall In Love, a scripted telenovela about two women who take a temporary break from their husbands to go party. The 80-part show, which was created by Sebastián Ortega, became the most watched show in Argentina earlier this year with a 50% share.

It could even be remade on some of Viacom’s international networks such as Channel 5 in the UK, Colors in India or Paramount TV in the U.S. after the group set up a General Entertainment Council to share ideas. The U.S network is already working on a multi-lingual Nazi thriller, Cazadores (Hunters), written by Narcos’ Jason George.

Viacom International Studios is also looking to see what Viacom-owned formats from around the world that it could reversion in Latin America. It is currently working with Paramount to adapt a number of Alfred Hitchcock movies into Spanish-language TV series. Paramount Pictures produced Hitchcock features including Rear Window and Vertigo.

On the movie front, VIS has closed a deal with Fox Networks Latin America for Animal, Telefe’s latest cinematic production, written and directed by Academy Award winning screenwriter Armando Bo. The thriller follows Antonio, a man with a perfect life, a beautiful wife, a good job and a bright future, until he finds out he needs something almost nobody is willing to give away.


Additionally, VIMN Americas has announced that Colombian channel Caracol Televisión has inked a deal for Nickelodeon Latinoamérica's popular tween telenovela Vikki RPM! Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet love story, the series (60 episodes) takes place at a racetrack and follows two kart racers who fall in love despite their families' rivalry.

Formally titled Formula A, Vikki RPM made its debut on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica on Monday 31st July 2017 and on Nickelodeon Brazil (Brasil) on Monday 18th September 2017, and made its European debut on TeenNick Italia in December 2017. The series also recently started to air on Nickelodeon Teen France and Nickelodeon Iberia in April 2018.

Nickelodeon Teen France Premieres 'Star Falls'

Nickelodeon Teen France started to premiere and show Nickelodeon's brand-new live-action series Star Falls weekdays at 18:55 on Monday 14th May 2018!


Created by George Doty IV (iCarly, Victorious, Drake & Josh, Max & Shred, Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster), Star Falls centers on Sophia, a strong-willed teen who persuades a Hollywood movie star and his family to live in her house while he shoots a movie in town, all with the hopes of setting him up with her mom. But the star’s three kids find their new rural life is a drastic change from the L.A. lifestyle they’re accustomed to. Everyone’s lives are hilariously turned upside down as the kids struggle to help their parents find love and adjust to what could be their new life. Nickelodeon has ordered 20 episodes for the show's first season. Star Falls was filmed in Canada by Breakthrough Entertainment during summer 2017, and will also air on YTV in Canada.

"Alors que les Cooper, une fratrie composée de la star de cinéma Craig et de ses trois enfants, vivent à Los Angeles, le clan Harper vit à la campagne sous la houlette de Beth, mère célibataire, et sa fille. Pour les besoins d'un tournage, les premiers s'installent un jour chez les seconds."


In the series premiere, "The Celebrity Setup" (#101), when Sophia rescues the dog of Hollywood star Craig Brooks, she seizes the opportunity to set her mom up with him. When that doesn't work, she takes things a step further and has the star and his three kids move in with them!


Star Falls stars Siena Agudong (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Alex & Me) as Sophia Miller, Kamaia Fairburn (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) as Diamond Brooks, Tomaso Sanelli (The Passenger) as Nate Rex, Jadiel Dowlin (Annedroids) as Phoenix Brooks and Marcus Cornwall as Bo Brooks.



Star Falls made its world premiere on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday 31st March 2018, and is currently rolling out onto Nickelodeon channels around the world.

Long before she starred in Suits or got engaged to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle was just an average kid—one who just so happened to appear on Nick News as part of her fight for gender equality.


If you didn't catch Markle's appearance at the 2015 UN Women conference detailing this very experience, allow me to get you up to date. When 11-year-old Markle was watching TV advertisements in class as part of a social studies assignment, she was alarmed when a commercial for dishwashing soap proudly asserted that "women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans." She was especially horrified when two boys in her class loudly proclaimed that women "belong" in the kitchen.

Not wanting kids to grow up thinking that "just mom does everything" Markle took up a letter-writing campaign to protest the ad. She wrote to Hillary Clinton, who was First Lady at the time. She wrote to Gloria Allred, the noted civil rights attorney Gloria Allred. She wrote to Procter & Gamble, the manufacturer of the soap. And she wrote to Linda Ellerbee, the host of Nickelodeon's Nick News, the longest-running kids' news show in television history

“If you see something that you don’t like or offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference, not just for yourself but for lots of other people," Markle said at the time. And her advocacy work paid off—P&G ultimately changed the slogan for their soap to say "people over America are fighting greasy pots and pans."

Inside Edition recently obtained footage of Markle's appearance on the Nickelodeon news show from none other than Linda Ellerbee herself—and even in the '90s, Ellerbee could tell that Markle would go on to do great things.

"It was absolutely clear that this young woman was strong in her beliefs,” she told the nightly news program. “It didn’t matter that she was 11 years old. She believed in women and she believed in her own power and wasn’t afraid to reach out and say, ‘I want my power. I want my rights.'"
