Nickelodeon Announces Nominees And Categories For Kids' Choice Sports 2014 Awards

Nickelodeon has announced in the following press release, from TVByTheNumbers.com, the exciting Nickelodeon News that Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids and families, has today, Wednesday 21st May 2014, announced the nominees and categories for the inaugural "Kids' Choice Sports" awards show, in which kids across the USA will choose their favorite athletes from among a wide range of kid-centric categories!


Hosted and executive produced by Michael Strahan ("LIVE with Kelly and Michael", "Fox NFL Sunday") "Kids' Choice Sports 2014" will be telecast live on Thursday 17th July 2014 (8pm ET/PT) from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles. Not only are the top athletes in the world coming to "Kids' Choice Sports" to play, but their biggest celebrity fans will come to compete alongside them, plus the winners of the coveted "Kids' Choice Sports" trophy's will be announced. Beginning Thursday 12th June 2014, kids will be able to cast their votes in 15 categories on Nick.com/sports.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Tennis star Serena Williams has the best chance to take home some hardware from Nickelodeon's first-ever Kids' Choice Sports awards show, due to be telecast live on July 17 from Los Angeles.

The categories range from serious to fun, and Williams was nominated as best female athlete, along with best cannon for her powerful serves, queen of swag for her sense of style and superstar siblings with sister Venus.

Basketball star Skylar Diggins was nominated Wednesday for favourite newcomer, clutch player of the year and queen of swag.

A popularity poll and expert panel selected the nominees. Starting June 12, Nick's youthful audience will be able to begin casting votes online.
