Nickelodeon's beloved Latina heroine is returning with a brand new live-action series! Not much is currently known about the show, however, it'll be aimed at kids 6-11, and will be in the vein of the 2019 live-action feature film Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which follows an older Dora! The series will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender reimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback's Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Created and written by Dicky Murphy (The Thundermans), Erin and Aaron is a musical multi-camera comedy about a newly blended family and two polar opposite stepsiblings named Erin and Aaron who come together through music.

Murphy executive produces alongside Sean Cunningham and Marc Dworkin (The Thundermans, Knight Squad).

Murphy is a homegrown Nickelodeon talent. He worked as a script manager on Zoey 101 and went on to write for iCarly and Marvin Marvin. He most recently was a writer-producer on the network’s The Thundermans series, executive produced by Cunningham and Dworkin. [more info]

Actor, voice actor, musician, writer, and comedian Brian Posehn sold the pilot for a potential brand new animated series to Nickelodeon!

Brian Posehn recently has hinted that his new animated series may have been picked up, and along as co-creating it, he'll be starring in the series!

The adventures of a 10-year-old girl dreaming of knighthood will soon unfold on Nickelodeon!

Max & the Midknights (20 episodes) follows a determined 10-year-old girl named Max, who pursues her dream of becoming a knight by leading her friends on an epic adventure in the fantastical medieval kingdom of Byjovia. The series is based on the best-selling children’s book series written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce.

As a small girl with big ideas in the Middle Ages, Max will defy the status quo, fight for justice, and inspire everyone she meets with her feisty and fearless leadership.  Not only will Max and the Midknights battle sword-wielding zombies, duel a malevolent sorceress, and tame a fire-breathing dragon, they'll also have loads of fun, forge lasting bonds of friendship, and push each other to be braver and bolder versions of themselves.  Clever, kind, and seriously sassy, Max is always ready to lend a hand -- or a sword -- whenever anyone needs help.

The hijinks of best friends Rock, Paper and Scissors will soon unfold on Nickelodeon!

Rock, Paper, Scissors (20 episodes) brings the iconic childhood game to life! This character-driven comedy follows the hilarious shenanigans of roommates Rock, Paper, and Scissors on their hijinks and ridiculous adventures. Rock, the moral compass of the group, is always struggling at his dream of becoming a model; Paper is an inventor and the brains of the group (if by “brains” you mean “making stuff that’s always blowing up”); and Scissors is the wannabe cool guy whose ego brings an endless fountain of chaos to these three friends. No matter how much they compete and mess with each other, at the end of the day, they will always bond over their shared love of one thing: wacky nonsense.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is created and executive produced by Kyle Stegina (Robot Chicken) and Josh Lehrman (Robot Chicken). Bob Boyle (The Fairly OddParents) and Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party) serve as executive producers. Nickelodeon has struck a multiplatform deal with James Corden and Ben Winston, and their production company Fulwell 73, to produce an animated movie and TV series, based on the recently released children’s book title, Real Pigeons Fight Crime. Nickelodeon has reportedly won the rights in a competitive situation to Dana Simpson’s comic strip Phoebe and Her Unicorn, a property that the Paramount Global studio is eyeing as a multi-platform franchise across an TV animated series, movies and more. The final deal points are still to be announced.

Phoebe and her Unicorn follows 9-year-old Phoebe Howell, a girl in the fourth grade, who deals with childhood challenges alongside her unicorn Marigold, friend Max and enemy Dakota. Phoebe meets Marigold after skipping a rock across a pond, accidentally hitting the unicorn in the face. Freed from her own reflection, the unicorn—named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils—gives Phoebe one wish, which she decides to use by making the unicorn her best friend. Marigold has magical powers, i.e. she can divert or redirect rain and send text messages and broadcast a Wi-Fi hotspot through her horn. Her most highly coveted power though is her “Shield of Boringness” spell, which causes humans to view her as nothing out of the ordinary and allows her to interact with them on a daily basis. Nickelodeon is slated to premiere Adventures in Wonder Park, an animated series inspired by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies hit 2019 theatrical feature Wonder Park, sometime in the future! Garfield

Paramount Global, through one of its subsidiaries, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Paws, Inc., the entity holding global intellectual property rights to the Garfield and the U.S. Acres (a.k.a. Orson’s Farm) franchises--including corresponding rights related to content, consumer products, and location-based experiences. The deal will see Nickelodeon develop a new Garfield animated television series, as well as new Garfield content for all platforms for a new generation of fans.

The acquisition of Garfield is part of Nickelodeon’s strategy to be the home for the biggest franchises kids and families love. [more info]

Meet the Voxels

Nickelodeon originally announced the development of Meet the Voxels (working title), an original TV, virtual reality and augmented reality series conceived by Chris Young, Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, in August 2018. The animated sitcom, created in a game engine, marks a first for Nickelodeon in its use of cutting-edge virtual cinema technology, including real-time full body and facial performance capture, bringing an innovative approach to immersive storytelling. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab is the network’s division established to spearhead long-range research and development around emerging platforms and new technology. Meet the Voxels is being developed to air across Nickelodeon’s channels globally.

The series will feature an African-American and Latinx family where everyone is from a different video game.

Meet the Voxels takes kids behind the scenes of a video game world and follows a family of video-game characters, the Voxels, on their adventures on-and-off-duty. When the project was first announced, the family members were named: Hunter, the 13-year-old star of a laser-tag video game; Maude, a 16-year-old girl fighting to pop as many bubbles as she can; their younger brother Cody who has not found his video game calling yet; Mom, a popular street fighter in her game; and Dad, a 90’s-era classic console game character who quit the business years ago. Nickelodeon has ordered Super Duper Bunny League (working title), a brand-new adventure-comedy preschool series based on the kids' comic book series by cartoonist Jamie Smart. Featuring 2D animation, the series (26 episodes) centers on a diverse group of bunny friends who must battle danger as they defend their city and the world from their archnemesis. Super Duper Bunny League is slated to launch 2024 in the U.S. and continue to roll out on Nick Jr. channels internationally.

The Super Duper Bunny League is here to battle danger in all its forms as they defend Important City and the world from their arch-nemesis (and accidental creator), the inept Dr. Fuzzleglove, and a ridiculous rogues' gallery of cartoony villains. Whether battling sweet-toothed space pirates, sizzling lava monsters, giant metal monkeys or hot dog-hungry dinosaurs, the Bunnies must combine their new superpowers to defend truth, justice, and especially free time to snack and chill.

Avatar Studios, the newly formed division designed to create original content spanning animated series and movies based on the beloved world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The first movie has the working title Aang Avatar, and is set to be released in theaters on Oct. 10, 2025. As revealed during a Comic-Con panel, the animated feature will focus on Avatar Aang and his friends. Lauren Montgomery (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Voltron: Legendary Defender) is attached to direct.

Following the success of Monster High The Movie, Nickelodeon and Mattel Television announced today they have greenlit a sequel to the live-action movie musical. Based on the iconic Mattel franchise about the children of famous monsters and creatures, the feature-length TV movie will begin production in January in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and will air on Nickelodeon and stream on Paramount+ in 2023.

Monster High The Movie follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris, Just Beyond) as she arrives at Monster High with a dark secret. With the help of her friends Draculaura (Nayah Damasen, Grey’s Anatomy) and Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot, Dispatches from Elsewhere), she is able to embrace her true monster heart and save the school from total destruction. The film also stars Case Walker, Kyle Selig, Steve Valentine, Marci T. House, Scotch Ellis Loring, Jy Prishkulnik, Lina Lecompte, Justin Derickson, Lilah Fitzgerald and Nasiv Sall. The story was written by Jenny Jaffe & Greg Erb & Jason Oremland, and the teleplay by Jaffe and Billy & Matt.

The world’s most fearsome fighting team began as a joke in 1983, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have had serious success ever since. Countless comic books, television shows, films, and video games have shown the group’s lasting appeal. So it’s no surprise they’re gearing up for another big screen adventure. Nickelodeon is teaming up with Seth Rogen on an all-new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Nickelodeon first announced it is partnering with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver to develop a new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in June 2020. It will also be Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s first-ever CG theatrical release. Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, Connected, Disenchantment) will direct. Brendan O’Brian (Neighbors, Sorority Rising) will write the script. Nickelodeon’s Executive Vice President Ramsey Naito will lead the production for Nickelodeon, alongside Point Grey Pictures’s Josh Fagen. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film globally.

The new movie will arrive in theatres on August 11, 2023.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. The film is produced by Seth Rogen.

Nickelodeon’s fin-credible world of Baby Shark is getting bigger with the development of a brand-new original animated movie, further expanding one of the most popular properties in the world. The movie will be co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and SmartStudy, the global entertainment company behind the beloved children’s brand Pinkfong.

In BABY SHARK'S BIG MOVIE!, Baby Shark is forced to leave the world he loves behind after his family's move to the big city, and must adjust to his new life without his best friend, William. When Baby Shark encounters an evil pop starfish named Stariana who plans to steal his gift of song in order to dominate all underwater music, he must break her spell to restore harmony to the seas. [more info]



Nickelodeon's Good Burger 2 movie is officially in the works, and Kel Mitchell says the sequel film will leave fans of the original "screaming" when they see the star-studded cast. After posting teasers for months, Mitchell officially confirmed that he's reuniting onscreen with Kenan Thompson to bring back Ed and Dexter, Good Burger's iconic fast-food duo, 25 years after their debut.



Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Pictures have announced that they have formed a deal with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS to produce multiple feature films based on The Smurfs, the iconic characters and stories created by Belgian artist Pierre Culliford, also known as Peyo. The musical Smurfs feature is the first project under the new partnership.

The first Smurfs movie is a musical being directed by Chris Miller, the Oscar-nominated helmer of 2011’s Puss in Boots, with a screenplay by Pam Brady (South Park, Team America: World Police). Brady who will also step into other creative roles that are yet to be announced. The feature is slated to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.

Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) is going to voice the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating comic strip cat Garfield in a new animated movie.

Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson’s Alcon Entertainment is behind the new still-untitled Garfield, which has been picked up for worldwide (excluding China) release by Sony Pictures. The script written by Oscar nominee David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) is being directed by Mark Dindal (Wonder Park, Chicken Little). Plot details are still to be announced.

The new Garfield film has been in development since late 2018, before Nickelodeon acquired the Garfield franchise in August 2019.

Written by David Reynolds and directed by Mark Dindal, the upcoming untitled animated Garfield film has been in development since late 2018, before Nickelodeon acquired the Garfield franchise in August 2019. Pratt's casting in the lead role as the eponymous orange feline was announced in 2021.

The movie is based on the classic comic strip by Jim Davis, who sold the rights to financer/producer Alcon Entertainment (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) and will serve as executive producer. DNEG (Ron’s Gone Wrong) is producing the animation.

It was announced in May that Samuel L. Jackson (Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, Incredibles) had joined the cast of the animated film as Vic, Garfield's father, a new character created for the film. Joining Pratt and Jackson are Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Wendell & Wild), Nicholas Hoult (The Great, Watership Down), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Krapopolis) and Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live, Loafy). Details on which characters the stars will play have not been revealed, though other fan-favorite characters like Garfield's canine friend Odie and their owner Jon Arbuckle are expected to appear in the film as well.

Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and his brother Casey (Impractical Jokers) are reportedly working on a brand new live-action Untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film for Paramount Pictures.

Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker are on as producers. Like the past two installments, plot details are being kept under wraps outside of the film revolving around everyone’s favorite pizza-eating, nunchuck-swinging life-sized turtles. But the film will revolve around the martial arts master superhero turtles in their fight against the evil Shredder and their love of pizza. [more info]

Nickelodeon viewers will soon observe a tale of both comedy and caution, of satire and stupidity, where minds may switch, bodies may shrink, and robots may rise in SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone, premiering Friday, Jan. 13 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The first-ever SpongeBob Universe crossover special will encore on Saturday, Jan. 14 and Sunday, Jan. 15 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The special will premiere across Nickelodeon’s international channels next year.

SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone is a journey into an hour of television where two dimensions can become three, and French divers can wear black ties. Narrated by the French Narrator, the one-hour special encompasses all three animated series within the SpongeBob Universe, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Patrick Star Show, and the Paramount+ original series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years and follows GrandPat (The Patrick Star Show) as he makes his way through each dimension.
