Paramount Signs Elevation to Distribute New Releases in the UK

From the start of 2021, Paramount will be putting its UK disc releases through a company owned by Lionsgate and StudioCanal.

It’s been nearly five years now since Paramount exited the home entertainment business itself in the UK and instead signed a deal with Universal to distribute its films and TV shows on disc (DVD and Blu-ray) in the region. It’s been a successful venture too, and others have followed suit with, for instance, Entertainment One (eOne) are also now putting its disc releases through Universal, too.

Now though, Paramount’s deal has come to an end, and in a surprising move, it’s moving its business to Elevation from the start of next year. Elevation is a sales company that’s a joint venture between Lionsgate and StudioCanal, and it has now secured the Paramount sales and distribution contract, effective from January 2021. It comes at a time when Paramount is freshly exploring releasing more catalogue movie titles to disc, and the deal also covers the likes of Nickelodeon and Showtime releases, too.

Paramount continues to oversee the marketing and digital releases for its UK releases itself.
