The Directors Guild of America has announced the exciting news that Dean Israelite and Michael Lembeck have received nominations in the "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children's Programs" category of the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television, Commercials and Documentary portion of the 75th Annual DGA Awards for their directorial work on Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Ghost Island mini-series Snow Day musical movie, respectively!
The winners will be announced at the 75th Annual DGA Awards on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. A full list of nominees can be found here.
Dean Israelite has been nominated for his directorial work on the Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Ghost Island episode “The Tale of Room 13”, the season three premiere of Nickelodeon's revival of the iconic '90s horror anthology series. In the episode, four best friends get more than they bargained for and encounter genuine terror locked away in one of the rooms after checking into a hotel on a resort island. The episode premiered July 30, 2022 on Nickelodeon.
Meanwhile, Michael Lembeck has been nominated for his work on Nickelodeon's Paramount+ Original movie Snow Day. A musical reimagining of the beloved comedy classic film, Snow Day follows a group of kids who are determined to achieve their dreams when their school closes for a snow day. The film made its debut on December 16, 2022 on Nickelodeon and Paramount+.
