NICKELODEON SLIME CUP SG 2017 SCORES A SLIME HOMERUN FOR THE FIFTH TIME

More than 11,000 attended the Slimiest integrated sports festival, with more than 11,000 litres of Slime produced

SINGAPORE, 18 JULY 2017 – The fifth edition of the Nickelodeon Slime Cup SG 2017 took it home with record figures at the Slimiest integrated sports festival! More than 11,000 kids and their families were in attendance at this admission-free event held on 15 and 16 July, and they relished slime galore, which saw 30 percent more Slime produced compared to the previous year. Putting their game face on, kids were recruited as Super Slime Fans and tested their Slime mettle in training stations, engaged in stage games, or posed with beloved Nickelodeon characters in photo-taking sessions.

Presented by Singtel TV and held at venue sponsor City Square Mall, the event promoted active living through play, and allowed attendees to get up close and personal with the green slime that is Nickelodeon’s badge of honor. The first day was exclusive to Singtel subscribers who got a head start on the sporting action.

“This is the best ‘slime-tastic’ edition of the Nickelodeon Slime Cup, based on the feedback we received. Witnessing new participants, and repeat attendees who come back year after year to be slimed repeatedly, is a clear Slimy stamp of approval to us and underscores our continued commitment to promote active and healthy living through the largest integrated kids' sports festival in Singapore!” said Ms. Syahrizan Mansor, Vice President, Nickelodeon Asia, Viacom International Media Networks.

The event kicked off with the All-Star Initiation Ceremony, where samba funk percussion group MOTUS set a lively tone while a rare appearance by six Nickelodeon characters on stage – SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michelangelo and Raphael, and PAW Patrol’s Chase and Skye – wowed the crowd.

The highlight of this year’s event was the Slide and Slime training station where participants challenged their skills of Sliminess as they climbed up a slope, slid down a giant slide, and braved obstacles in a Donut or Watermelon float to get across a Slime Pool.

Meanwhile, kids also prepared themselves for the Slime of their lives at the Slime Wash, where they got sloshed and soaked generously with green, gooey Slime.

Participants at the Sa-Lai-Mi Sensei-Tion took tips from Master Splinter from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to master the art of ninjutsu, where they had to climb across a netted obstacle, avoid swinging Slime balls, and still toss Slimy Salami and Vegetable Pizzas to the Turtles!

Preschoolers were not left out as if they made a visit to the Slime Salon to get their slime war paint on, sparkle in Shimmer and Shine face painting, or treat themselves to tattoo stickers.

Highlights of the family-friendly weekend at the Nickelodeon Slime Cup SG 2017 included:

- An All-Star Initiation Ceremony where kids and their families gathered at the stage to enjoy a samba funk performance by percussion group MOTUS, and a rare appearance by six Nickelodeon characters.

- Snagging a pass for the Photo-taking Sessions, to share the stage with well-loved Nickelodeon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and PAW Patrol.

- Kids showed off their sporting spirit and had the time of their lives at nine Training Stations which took inspiration from Nickelodeon’s shows, while celebrating Nickelodeon’s trademark slime.

- A Slime Salon where attendees from tiny tots to adventurous tweens, decked themselves out in slime war paint and temporary tattoo stickers.

- A roving Slime Squad who created unforgettable animated photo memories of attendees could be printed onsite.

- And wrapping up a Slime-drenched weekend was the Closing Ceremony on 16 July with a special character appearance and group sliming of Super Slime Fans!
