From The Hollywood Reporter:

JoJo Siwa Talks Birthday Special, Tour and Bows With Her 7-year-old "Biggest Fan"

The social media star and singer's tour kicks off Friday, followed by the premiere of her birthday special Saturday on Nickelodeon.
It's not every day that you turn 16, and when you're a social media sensation and Nickelodeon star, you have to celebrate in the biggest way possible. JoJo Siwa filmed 24 hours in her life as she celebrates her milestone birthday, which will air as a special titled JoJo’s Dream Birthday at 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Nickelodeon.

And when your 7-year-old daughter — self-described as Siwa's "biggest fan, really big, like infinity big" — gets a chance to interview her idol, you don't pass up that opportunity.

On the red carpet ahead of the filming in Hollywood, and in a follow-up interview after the taping of the special, Brianna Nordyke asked Siwa questions about her birthday special, along with her upcoming tour, D.R.E.A.M: The Tour, which kicks off Friday in Phoenix before heading to the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. The tour will then travel to other major venues around the country in cities including Seattle, Denver, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, New York, Nashville, Boston and Atlanta. It wraps up Sept. 17 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

With guidance from mom Kimberly (online managing editor at The Hollywood Reporter), Brianna also put her interviewing skills to the test. Some of her most burning questions were nixed for obvious reasons ("Where do you live?" "What's your phone number?"), while several others made the cut. (See some of her questions written out in the image below.)

The party itself featured lots of candy, lots of balloons and lots of unicorns (as fans know, Siwa loves unicorns), in addition to gourmet donuts with toppings of your choice, specialty drinks served in cups that looked like silver disco balls, ping-pong tables featuring paddles with Siwa's picture and a huge "birthday card" where attendees could sign and leave birthday wishes for the Lip Sync Battle Shorties star. (Among the attendees were Siwa's mom Jessalynn, whom fans will recognize from Siwa's breakout show Dance Moms, and Fuller House's Jodie Sweetin.)

Says Brianna of the birthday party: "It was good. It had candy, which was my favorite. I loved the cake; that was pretty cool [we won't spoil the surprise here of how the cake was decorated other than to say it was certainly one of a kind]. I also liked the drink cups. They were disco balls. And we got to have donuts. Everything was pink. It was pretty cool seeing JoJo. I got to take a picture of me with JoJo and a JoJo bow. She was really nice and pretty. She was pretty tall for her age. She was so tall that she was looking 23 but she's only 16. It was awesome that I got to ask her questions."

Here are the questions that Brianna asked Siwa (along with a couple thrown in by Kimberly):

What can fans expect to see on your birthday special?

Fans can expect crazy, fun adventures, super special guests, big surprises and the best 16th birthday ever. Along the way, fans will see me go-kart racing, indoor skydiving and more.

The special is called JoJo's Dream Birthday. Was it the birthday party you've always dreamed about?

It was the most epic 24 hours of my life! I couldn’t have imagined a better party. I was really lucky to have party planners and Nickelodeon to really bring my vision to life. From the cake to the décor, everything was perfect! The best part was having all of my friends and family celebrate together.

How much candy did you have at your party?

Too much candy to count. I felt like a "Kid in a Candy Store"! [That's the title of one of her songs.]

Was BowBow there? [BowBow is Siwa's dog, a teacup Yorkie, who is also featured in an animated series from Nickelodeon.]

Yes, it wouldn’t be a JoJo party without BowBow!

What's your tour like?

The tour is an absolute dream. Fans can expect all of their favorite songs, and of course a super entertaining dance performance. I’m really lucky because I have been working with an amazing team, from choreographer to creative director, and all of my dancers are awesome. We have been giving it our all during rehearsals. It’s going to be an awesome show.

How do you get ready to perform?

I drink tea, do vocal warm-ups, stretch and give a pep talk to everyone performing with me.

How many songs are you going to have?

Fans can expect to see me perform "D.R.E.A.M.," "Boomerang," "Bop!," "Kid in a Candy Store" and "High Top Shoes." You’ll have to wait and see what else I perform!

How many bows do you have? [Siwa has a wildly successful merch line that features, among other offerings, her signature bow in numerous colors and patterns.]

Definitely over 1,000!

What advice can you give me to start my own YouTube channel? [Siwa has nearly 9.7 million subscribers to her YouTube channel.]

Don’t be afraid to be yourself! Also know that starting your own channel is a lot of work, but definitely worth all the fun.

At the party, an artist was drawing attendees using an app on a tablet that featured them wearing Siwa's signature bow.
