Guy Moon, the four-time Emmy-nominated composer behind the music of Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents animated series, has sadly passed away at the age of 63.

Per his family and a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner report, Moon was killed in an accidental traffic collision on the morning of Thursday, January 8 and succumbed to traumatic injuries.
“We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon,” the family said in a statement on Facebook. “We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”
The Annie Award-winning music writer also served as the composer on two more Butch Hartman-created series, Danny Phantom (writing the music for its earworm theme) and T.U.F.F. Puppy. In addition to those projects, he served as a music writer for Big Time Rush, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and its reboot, Back at the Barnyard, Cow and Chicken and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
Outside of series and animation, Moon composed scores for films like 2017’s The Crash (starring John Leguizamo, Minnie Driver and AnnaSophia Robb), The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel and the three live-action Fairly OddParents movies (starring Drake Bell and Danielle Monet). He also contributed to soundtracks for movies like Minority Report, Fight Club and Mystic Pizza.
Moon’s family noted a celebration of his life is being tentatively planned on his birthday, Saturday, February 7, in the Los Angeles area, and another sometime after in his hometown in Wisconsin.

It appears that the epic journey of our favorite motley crew may have come to a halt.
Star Trek: Prodigy may have been canceled, with Paramount Global Content Distribution now listing the second season, which premiered on Netflix in July 2024, as the series' "final season".
Even more bad news is that the series is set to leave Netflix almost immediately.
It's understood that the series will be leaving Netflix in two parts, with each season leaving 18 months after they were initially licensed. That means at the moment, the two seasons will be leaving on the following timeline:
Season 1 will depart Netflix on June 24th, 2025
Season 2 will depart Netflix on January 1st, 2026
Of course, Netflix and Paramount could arrange to renew the license, and we’ll keep you posted if that happens. As it stands, though, your time to watch both seasons is running out.
Update (6/26): As expected, Netflix has now removed Star Trek: Prodigy season one from its streaming library, including in the U.K.
Update (1/11/26):Star Trek: Prodigy season two has now been removed from Netflix.
Speaking to TrekMovie.com upon the release of season 2 last summer, Dan and Kevin Hageman, the two creators of the show, were realistic about their expectations on a season 3 pickup. “We don’t know anything about season 3 yet. But what from what I see of Netflix when they do pick up shows for a season 3, which is very rare, it’s not about doing well, it has to do gangbusters,” said Kevin with Dan adding, “We’re happy with how we left things off at the end of the season 2. We feel like there’s a nice place to stop, but also a new adventure to pick up if we want to.”
They’re right, of course, and Star Trek: Prodigy didn’t make a significant impact when it did land. It missed the global weekly charts, and looking at the Netflix Engagement Reports, it didn’t catch fire. Per that report, covering viewing data from 2023 through 2024, the series picked up the equivalent of 3.4M views in total throughout that two-year period. For comparison, Blue Eye Samurai, which did get a rare animation renewal, picked up 20.5M views in the same period.
The last we heard from Kate about her return to Star Trek as Hologram Janeway and Admiral Janeway (which just garnered her an Emmy nomination, BTW), she was “furious” Netflix hadn’t picked up the show for a third season. When asked if she had any updates on the status of the highly regarded animated series, Mulgrew told TrekMovie, “I’ve heard not a thing.” In fact, she didn’t know the series had exited Netflix entirely at the end of December. Here is how she reacted to that news:
“Oh, is it lost now? So it’s somewhere floating. But this is the story of genius in Hollywood. Dan and Kevin Hageman are geniuses. Everybody knows that. And they created something that I think filled a deeply needed hole. The kids—the little kids, not the teenagers, not the young—the little kids, who are absorbent sponges when it comes to things like the Prime Directive, understanding that if I take your hand, we can do this better together. The very sound tenets of Star Trek. And she had such an eclectic crew. And I loved being the hologram and the captain and the admiral, and it’s just a shame. But of course, we could stand here all night complaining about why the good things went away.”
And the woman who commanded the USS Voyager for seven seasons said she isn’t happy about the idea that Prodigy would be Kathryn Janeway’s swan song with the franchise:
“That would be too bad, because they truncated it. They abbreviated it. They didn’t give it its head. They didn’t fulfill its promise. And whether they did it intentionally or not, or out of boredom or out of ennui, or out of too much content, or whatever they were thinking, in terms of Janeway’s legacy, it’s not the best way to go out is it? A cartoon that didn’t see its potential. It was great, but it wasn’t—it needs to get to the finish line. The whole legacy thing is… it’s truthful, but it’s also about ego.”
Developed by Emmy® Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago), along with Alex Kurtzman and his team at Secret Hideout, the Children's & Family Emmy® nominated CG-animated series Star Trek: Prodigy was the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences and follows a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search of a better future.
In season two, these six young outcasts who make up the Prodigy crew are assigned a new mission aboard the USS Voyager-A to rescue Captain Chakotay (voiced by Robert Beltran) and bring peace to Gwyn’s (voiced by Ella Purnell) home world. However, when their plan goes astray, it creates a time paradox that jeopardizes both their future and past.
Star Trek: Prodigy has had quite a rocky journey. Star Trek: Prodigy premiered on Paramount+ in 2021, and aired its first season over two years, with 10 episodes starting in fall 2021 and a second 10 late in 2022. The series made its linear TV debut on Nickelodeon in July 2022, with the first 10 episodes airing on the network. During this time, a second season of a further 20 episodes was ordered by Paramount+, however, the series was canceled by the streamer in June 2023, with season one removed from the service. In October 2023, Netflix acquired the rights to both season one and season two of Prodigy, with the first season being added on December 25 of that year, and season two premiering on the service on July 1, 2024. Both seasons have also been released on DVD and Blu-ray through Paramount Home Entertainment.
Following the debut of season two, fans launched a campaign to get Star Trek: Prodigy renewed for a third season, chartering a plane to fly around Netflix HQ. In the spirt of Star Trek, in addition to raising funds for the flight, organizers also used the opportunity to raise money for an ALS charity. The flight caught the attention of the cast and crew of Star Trek: Prodigy, who shared messages of support on X/Twitter.
The Star Trek: Prodigy voice cast includes Kate Mulgrew (Hologram Kathryn Janeway), Brett Gray (Dal), Ella Purnell (Gwyn), Rylee Alazraqui (Rok-Tahk), Angus Imrie (Zero), Jason Mantzoukas (Jankom Pog), Dee Bradley Baker (Murf), John Noble (The Diviner) and Jimmi Simpson (Drednok).
Season two recurring voice cast members include Robert Beltran (Captain Chakotay), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Jason Alexander (Doctor Noum), Daveed Diggs (Commander Tysess), Jameela Jamil (Ensign Asencia), Ronny Cox (Admiral Jellico) and Michaela Dietz (Maj’el).
Star Trek: Prodigy streams on Netflix and select countries (excluding Canada, Nordics, Central and Eastern Europe, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belarus and Mainland China) and on SkyShowtime in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Central and Eastern Europe. Season two has launched in France on France Televisions channels and Okoo. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Note: These episodes were previously "banned" from airing in Central and Eastern Europe due to their content.

Launching this October, IDW Publishing announces Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a new comic series spinning out of Paramount+’s 2D-animated series, produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures.
Full Mural Variant RI 1:50 by Jon Lankry
Featuring the comic-book debut of writers Mikey Levitt (Tales of the TMNT production team) for the first story and then Andrew Joustra (TMNT: Mutant Mayhem production team) for the second story, with radical art by Louie Joyce (Godzilla: Skate or Die) for both of the three-issue tales. This comic features original characters from the streaming show in comics for the first time, as well as classic TMNT characters never before seen in the new toon.
“TMNT comics are so iconic, so to have this opportunity to create a new iteration is a dream come true,” said Levitt. “Now having written for the show and comics, there are so many exciting paths within this world we can send the characters, and I think the fans will love where we go this time! I don’t want to reveal too much, but if you’re a fan of the robot characters throughout Turtles’ history, you may want to buy yourself a copy when these come out! One more thing I’ll tease: Not every villain we’ve said goodbye to is truly gone…”
Joustra enthused, ”I’m beyond thrilled and honored to be going on a new adventure with the Turtles. We’ve been given the unique opportunity to further explore this iteration of the TMNT and introduce them to a new spin on some familiar faces. It has particularly been a dream come true for me to reimagine my favorite TMNT character, the Fugitoid, for these issues and to tell a surprisingly personal story with him. I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just ‘zay’ I’ve had a ton of fun working on this project and leave it at that. Cowabunga!”
Joyce, a lifelong Turtles fan, called this project “an absolute dream.” The artist added, “The style and aesthetic of this latest generation of Turtles is so unique and fun! I’m having a blast exploring and expanding on it through my own art and storytelling. Humor, heart, action! It’s all happening on these pages, in that perfect TMNT way.”
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 went on sale on Wednesday, October 15. In the lead up to its debut, a special New York Comic Con variant cover was also revealed.

The Gaang is back!! Today Netflix unveiled the Official Teaser and First Look photos for the highly-anticipated return of Avatar: The Last Airbender, confirming Season 2 will debut in 2026. The Teaser showcases fan-favorite Earthbender, Toph (Miya Cech), the newest member of Team Avatar that includes Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) and more!
About AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER S2
Release Date: 2026
Starring: Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Miya Cech, Elizabeth Yu, Ty Lee and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, with Maria Zhang and Daniel Dae Kim.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER follows Aang, the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation. In S2, after a bittersweet victory saving the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation, Avatar Aang, Katara and Sokka regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER is a live-action reimagining of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series. Christine Boylan (Poker Face, Once Upon a Time) serves as executive producer and writer. Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things) is executive producer and director, alongside directors Anu Menon, Amit Gupta and Hiromi Kamata. Dan Lin and Ryan Halprin serve as executive producers from Rideback. Additional executive producers include Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim.
Kim, who served as showrunner and wrote the pilot for Season 1, has passed the reins to Boylan and Raisasni. Kim will remain as an executive producer on the series.
Following the smashing success of Season 1 on Netflix, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series was quickly renewed for two more seasons, which were filmed back-to-back, with the series wrapping earlier this Fall.
“We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2,” executive producers Boylan and Raisani told Netflix's Tudum in February. “We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly, we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again.”
The EPs are keeping details about Season 2 close to the vest, but they did tease that we will see more of the Earth Kingdom.
“There’s no war in Ba Sing Se,” they explain, referencing a line from the original animated series. “For the Gaang, fans can expect more brilliant plans from Sokka, even more masterful bending from Katara, Appa, and Momo to be as fluffy as ever, and Aang to learn a new bending form (or two).”
In general, Raisani and Boylan are excited about building on the strong foundation of Season 1. “We’re going to challenge our characters with more complex and nuanced obstacles as they navigate a more tactile world,” say Boylan and Raisani. “Just as the animated series matured and progressed, the live-action will also take these characters and worlds and grow them.”
“When we started working on Season 2, we gathered three forces: integrity, hope, and joy. And here we are almost three years later wrapping the end of production with an immensely talented and devoted team that met those ideals and exceeded them,” Boylan told Tudum. “I am eternally grateful to be part of this important, hilarious, action-packed team who is bringing this epic live action story to the world.”
But with a new season comes the opportunity for fresh faces.
Earlier in 2025, Netflix announced new cast members who will be joining Season 2, in addition to Cech as Toph:
Chin Han (Mortal Kombat, Skyscraper) as Long Feng
Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer, Top of the Lake: China Girl) as Professor Zei
Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun, The Great Leap) as King Kuei
Amanda Zhou (Spinning Out, The Handmaid’s Tale) as Joo Dee
Crystal Yu (Doctor Who, Good Omens) as Lady Beifong
Kelemete Misipeka (Sons of Thunder) as The Boulder

Lily Gao (Blue Sun Palace, Twisted Metal, Slip) as Ursa
Madison Hu (The Brothers Sun, The Boogeyman) as Fei
Dichen Lachman (Severance, Jurassic World: Dominion, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) as Yangchen
New cast members for the third and final season will also include Jon Jon Briones (Ratched, Hadestown, The Last Voyage of the Demeter) as Piandao and Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves, Legends of the Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon) as Hama.
