Nickelodeon UK Partners With MovieStarPlanet For Premiere Of "Bella and the Bulldogs"

The modern marketing and media news website The Drum is reporting the exciting news that Nickelodeon UK, the number one commercial kids TV network in the UK, has teamed with virtual world website MovieStarPlanet to promote the UK and Irish premiere of Nickelodeon's brand-new original comedy series "Bella and the Bulldogs", in which a head cheerleader's life takes an unexpected twist when her rifle-like throwing arm takes her from the sidelines to becoming her middle school's starting quarterback!

The partnership, secured by UM London and Sunchaser, involves characters from the virtual world of MovieStarPlanet. The site, which is accessible on desktop, tablet and mobile devices, allows children create an account, choose an avatar, and compete to become a famous virtual movie star.

For the tie-up with Nickelodeon, users who log in to MovieStarPlanet.co.uk from today, Thursday 9th April 2015, will be given a free virtual "Bella and the Bulldogs" top to dress their virtual character in as well as watch clips from Nick's new series in a virtual cinema!

Alison Bakunowich, Vice President and Director of Creative, Marketing and Communications at Nickelodeon UK, said: "It is brilliant to be the first brand to launch a partnership of this kind with MovieStarPlanet. We hope that the activation will complement our other promotional plans for the series, helping to build a strong UK fan base ahead of the show’s UK premiere."

Bakunowich added that she hopes the partnership will encourage the series' target audience - children aged between 7-12 years - to create user generated content associated with the show.

"Bella and the Bulldogs" premieres on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland and Nickelodeon HD UK on Monday 27 April 2015 at 6:00pm (replayed one-hour later on Nick UK's plus-one (+1) timeshift channel, Nickelodeon +1). Following the series debut, Nick UK & Eire/HD will continue to premiere all-new episodes of "Bella and the Bulldogs" weekdays at 6:00pm (7:00pm on Nick+1).

In Nick's new comedy ripped right out of the headlines of girls playing traditionally "boy" sports, Bella Dawson, a confident, caring and talented teenager, suddenly finds herself fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming the star quarterback of her middle school football team but also having to navigate the world of her teammates Troy, Sawyer and Newt, without losing her two best friends, Pepper and Sophie from the cheer squad.

Executive produced by Jeff Bushell, the show was created by Nickelodeon Writing Program alumni Gabriel Garza and Jonathan Butler, who also serve as co-executive producers. Garza began his writing career by being selected for the program in 2009, where he met his future writing partner and fellow program alum Jonathan Butler. Prior to selling their pitch to Nick and beginning development on "Bella and the Bulldogs", both Butler and Garza were staff writers on "The Haunted Hathaways".
