Nickelodeon's Five-City "Road To Worldwide Day Of Play" Campaign To Culminate In New York City's Prospect Park On Saturday 19th September 2015

EVENT WILL FEATURE BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS RACE FOR THE KIDS AND ACTIVITIES FROM MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL'S PLAYBALL.ORG, NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION AND NFL PLAY 60

Appearances by New York Knicks' Langston Galloway, Sports Legends Fred Baxter, Lee Mazzilli and Mookie Wilson and Nickelodeon Stars


NEW YORK – Sept. 16, 2015 – Nickelodeon will bring its "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" campaign, a summer-long celebration of play, to a close with an event in New York City's Prospect Park on Sept. 19 in partnership with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City Race for the Kids. The day-long celebration of play will feature Nickelodeon-themed games and activities, costumed characters and appearances by the stars of Nickelodeon's Every Witch Way and Saban's Power Rangers Dino Charge.


"This summer Nickelodeon's "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" has been rolling through communities across the country, alongside partners who share our vision to celebrate kids being active,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Viacom Kids and Family Group. "We're bringing the same spirit of those events to New York City's Prospect Park on Sept. 19, to connect kids to a wide range of activities and organizations."

"Road to Worldwide Day of Play" kicked off in June and made stops in Nashville, Tenn., Los Angeles, Calif., Miami, Fla., Fayetteville, N.C. and Boulder, Colo. to host events—which brought health and wellness themed activities, slime, a Nick Radio dance party, appearances by Nickelodeon talent and local athletes and donations–created in partnership with national and grassroots organizations, including NFL Play 60, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation and the Play Boulder Foundation that encouraged kids in those cities to engage in active play.

Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon's ongoing health and wellness efforts and continues the network's legacy of promoting prosocial initiatives to its viewers. Capri Sun Roarin' Waters is a sponsor of Worldwide Day of Play 2015. Capri Sun Roarin' Waters has teamed up with Nickelodeon for the Push Play brand campaign. This summer-long program, which kicked off on May 27, 2015, complements the network's "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" initiative, giving kids an opportunity to log onto www.nick.com/roarinwaters to use a game generator that will make play easy and accessible by providing them with fun and easy activities they can participate in using household items.

Fruit of the Loom believes that kids have the right to play and to be comfortable while they do it, which is why they've signed on as a sponsor. The company partnered with the "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" campaign by creating a "Fruit of the Loom Playground Testing Zone". The themed activities gave kids and their families an opportunity to test the comfort of Fruit of the Loom apparel against all types of play in three different obstacle courses. At the New York City event, kids will have a chance to participate in the Fruit of the Loom Playground Testing Zone, complete with a brand-new fourth obstacle course.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA), who held youth tennis events as part of the network's "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" campaign, creating a "hands-on" opportunity for families to experience the fun of tennis, is a sponsor of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play. Kids are learning the game through USTA's youth initiative which is geared towards getting more kids to participate in tennis using equipment and courts tailored to a child's size. USTA will also partner with Nickelodeon in New York City, where they will feature their "freestyle tennis" activation.
