Former UC Davis Student Produces Cartoon Short "The Outsiders" With Nickelodeon

As a managerial economics alum at University of California, Davis (UC Davis), Eric Bravo didn't anticipate that he would ever be writing and producing his own cartoon short for Nickelodeon. But Bravo, who graduated in 2013, built on his internship at Nickelodeon Animation Studio and pitched his very own cartoon idea to studio executives as part of Nickelodeon's 2014 Animated Shorts Program. Out of over 900 pitches from a broad spectrum of creative talent in 2014, Nickelodeon selected Eric's cartoon short, "The Outsiders", as one of 11 finalists of the networks 2014 Animated Shorts Program!

Following developing Eric's script into a full animated short, Nickelodeon USA has debuted "The Outsiders" on the networks official "Short Toons" website, which you can watch here on nick.com!

In "The Outsiders", Gerald is annoyed at Miles for dragging him out to the woods for a "dance" emergency. But they have to work together when a Bear attacks!

To celebrate the debut of "The Outsiders", The California Aggie has unveiled a fantastic interview with Eric Bravo, in which he talks about how he got into animating and how Nickelodeon helped him develop his short, which you can read here on TheAggie.org!

Eric's has also started a blog called "Storyboard Room" to help people aspiring to get into the entertainment business, in which he interviews industry professionals in animation about how they got into the industry!

Nickelodeon's Animated Shorts Program aims to discover, mentor and collaborate with exciting new talent in order to develop the best short-form content for Nickelodeon. All the shorts selected have the potential to be developed into a longer-form series. Nickelodeon's Global Nickelodeon Animated Shorts Program is open to creatives across the world. The 2016 edition of the initiative will launch in February 2016. More information is available at nickshortspitches.com.
