SINGAPORE, 12 APRIL 2016 - Viacom International Media Networks' kids and family entertainment brand Nickelodeon and leading experiential edutainment brand KidZania Singapore have joined forces to launch the Nickelodeon Acting Academy and Theatre as part of the official opening for KidZania Singapore today. The interactive kids' city is located in Sentosa and the opening kicks off a collaboration between both brands to allow kids to have the chance to role-play as their favourite Nickelodeon characters, attend acting classes and experience performing for an audience in a theatre space.

"We've been eagerly awaiting KidZania's opening in Singapore. Nickelodeon represents fun for kids and we have a successful history of creating promotional programmes for kids brands to create surprising and playful entertainment experiences everywhere we go. Through the Nickelodeon Acting Academy and Theatre, we hope to help instill confidence in the young participants and fan the passion of these aspiring actors who will one day have a positive impact in the communities they live in," said Mr. Vishal Kurien, Vice President, Advertising Sales, Southeast Asia, Viacom International Media Networks.

"It's a great privilege to work with Nickelodeon and offer kids the opportunity to hone their acting talents and develop stage confidence with one of the world's best in kids' edutainment. Realism is at the heart of what we do, and it is important that we continue to provide a realistic and diverse experience with authentic role-playing activities for children," said Leong Yue Weng, KidZania Singapore's General Manager.

From April to June, kids get to be in the "A Foot Too Big" play based on Nickelodeon's animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Between July to September, children can be in the "Free Samples" play, inspired by another popular Nickelodeon title SpongeBob SquarePants. The modern, two-storey Theatre has a seating capacity of 109 and is equipped with a range of advance theatre technologies to support many forms of production.

Team leaders and "Zupervisors" assigned to the Theatre are experienced in performing arts and have undergone studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. In each session, up to eight kids aged four and above are given a half-hour acting class. They are then cast as roles within the play, and given costumes and props before they proceed to perform on stage as the characters they have been cast as. There are roles catering to various ages, skills and confidence levels. Family and friends are invited to watch these performances as audiences within the Theatre. Kids are paid a salary in kidZos, KidZania's own currency after each performance. During school holidays, visitors will also be able to attend meet and greet sessions to take photos with respective Nickelodeon characters and take home exclusive goodie bags.
