Mitch Schauer Talks Possible 'The Angry Beavers' Revival

Could there be an The Angry Beavers revival on the horizon?

In a fantastic interview with Old School Lane's Casual Chats, Mitch Schauer, the creator of Angry Beavers, has said that there are no current plans for Nickelodeon to bring back two of the network’s most memorable cartoon critters, however, if they do want to revive the popular '90s animated series, he's more than willing to make it happen - and he's got the perfect premise and title ready and waiting!

Update (1/6): Nickelodeon Animation has revealed in a post on their official Tumblr page that there are unfortunately no plans to revive The Angry Beavers for a Respoot. However, they do hint that this could change in the future!:

In the interview, Mitch said that if Nickelodeon greenlit a The Angry Beavers reboot, it may be titled "Respooted", after one of Norbert and Daggett's favorite catchphrases in the series, and that the revival would pick up with the beaver brothers now adults. Norb would be married to Treeflower, Norbert's love interest in the series, and would now be raising their own beaver children, and show viewers what it's like raising a young family. Dag would still be a bachelor beaver, but would now be living alone, visiting Norb and Treeflower often. The revival could also be centered around the classic horror movie The Shining. The idea of calling the revival Angry Beavers: Respooted was from one of Mitch's daughter's.

Although Nickelodeon currently has no plans for a Angry Beavers revival, with nostalgia at a all time high, and Nickelodeon delighting '90s fans by reviving fan-favorite properties, such as the recently premiered Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie, and the upcoming Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader ZIM television movies, there's a good chance we'll see Norb and Dag on our TV's again very soon! Additionally, Mitch shared several facts about Angry Beavers:

- Following the success of the Halloween special "The Day the World Got Really Screwed Up!", a second half-hour Halloween episode was recorded, which was to be a homage to the Hammer Horror movies. Terence Stamp voiced Dracula and Sheena Easton voice a gypsy.

- Following the series wrapping, a spin-off series titled Simply Sisters was planned, which was to follow the lives of Norbert and Daggett's sisters, Stacy and Chelsea, voiced by Mitch's own daughters, Stacy and Chelsea Schauer. A pilot was recorded, but unfortunately, the series wasn't picked up. Mitch had planned a mostly female production crew for Simply Sisters, including female writers and producers, with Shirley Walker set to compose the music for the show. Although Simply Sisters would have foccussed on Stacy and Chelsea, Norb and Dag would have guest starred in the show. The pilot was narrated by Alyssa Milano (Jimmy Neutron: Win, Lose and Kaboom, Charmed), who voiced one of the sisters as an adult, talking about growing up as a sister.

- There was in fact no intention to let the beavers die in the "lost" unmade final episode of The Angry Beavers, "Bye Bye Beavers".

- The name of the character Kid Friendly, voiced by Waylon Jennings in the episode "The Legend of Kid Friendly", was inspired after the notes saying stories had to be "kid friendly" Nickelodeon was sticking on the show's scripts.
