Hype surrounding the launch of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nickelodeon's brand-new 2D-animated series which reimagines the iconic characters in a fresh new way, was at an all-time high in September – and its ratings have proven the excitement was well-founded!

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premiered in the UK simultaneously on Nicktoons and Channel 5 on Saturday 22nd September 2018 at 10am (as the first UK simulcast across Viacom owned Nicktoons and Channel 5), a few days after its US launch, where it outperformed BBC 1 in its time slot for Channel 5, a major win for the new animation and the channel.

Nickelodeon supported the launch with a host of activity in the lead up. Press, VIPs, influencers and celebrity fans were invited to a special early screening at London's Bay Sixty6. The event turned the underground skate park into the Turtles Lair, complete with a performance from skateboarding sensation Schaeffer McLean, who performed a brand new specially commissioned move - The Mikey, of course, lots of pizza. Danny Dyer, Danielle Lloyd and Made in Chelsea stars Stephanie Pratt and Jess Woodley led a star-studded turn out, creating buzz around the country.

But the broadcast success for Raph, Donny, Leo and Mickey doesn’t end there. In the three weeks following the launch of the show, Channel 5 ranked +14 per cent ahead of BBC 1, +27 per cent ahead of CBBC, +56 per cent ahead of CITV and +62 per cent ahead of ITV*.

The show was supported by the launch of a brand-new toy line on Friday 5th October 2018, distributed in the UK by GP Flair. Highlights from the range include an assortment of highly detailed action figures, with heights ranging from 4” to 5.5”, as well as Deluxe Figures with amazing sounds and ninja action features, plus chunky and rugged Super Deluxe Figures.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles airs weekends at 10am on Nicktoons UK & Ireland and Channel 5.
