Spin Master Plans to Release 'PAW Patrol' Theatrical Movie in 2021; New 44-Minute Movie 'Race to the Rescue' During Fall 2019

Spin Master revealed the PAWsome news during their First Quarter 2019 Earnings Conference Call on Thursday, May 9, 2019 that scripts and production for their upcoming animated PAW Patrol theatrical movie was well underway, and that they are targeting a 2021 release for the film!

Update (8/3) - Spin Master revealed during their Q219 earnings conference call that they are now a late-2021 release date for the PAW Patrol movie!:

"Progress continues for the first ever theatrical animated PAW Patrol film, which we are targeting for release in late 2021, and we believe PAW Patrol will set the foundation for other properties to follow on to the big screen."

Spin Master also revealed that they have seen a big increase in PAW Patrol user-generated content (UGC) on YouTube!:

"An interesting development I wanted to share with you relates to the amount of user-generated content we are seeing for PAW Patrol on YouTube. There are legions and legions of PAW Patrol fans creating content, which is used and viewed globally. This is creating deeper engagement with the PAW Patrol franchise."

Spin Master also revealed that:

- "We also launched PAW Patrol in Japan in partnership with [Cart Only] and the initial results have far exceeded our expectation. We remain very confident in PAW Patrol's prospect for this year and beyond based on upcoming content, new themes and innovative products. This fall we will introduce the Ready Race Rescue TV special and new toy items to bring the theme to life. Overall, we've seen very significant growth in views of our content. The Mighty Pups trailer was our top-performing PAW Patrol content ever, with 34 million views. Product tied to the Super Boss season began hitting the shelves late in Q2, and we are very excited by early customer engagement. Our retail partners are also very excited by the brand momentum with the strongest feature, support and product line engagement we have seen for the brand to date."

- That the Abby Hatcher toy line, slated to launch in 2020, will mainly focus on "plush -- interactive plush, but not like the higher-end price point of interactive but a lower price point to bring out the funny, if any, aspects of the characters, especially, Fuzzlies, dolls for Abby, and then plastic figures and roleplay. So those will be the 4 categories that we'll be focused on."

During their Q119 conference call, Spin Master also revealed that:

-- They believe the PAW Patrol movie will set the foundation for some of their other hit properties to hit the big screen!;

-- They will release a totally redesigned PAW Patrol Lookout Tower and the Mighty Jet Command Centre, as well as new PAW Patrol Power transforming vehicles and a new diecast line at retail during fall 2019!;

-- Following the success of the first 44-minute PAW Patrol movie, "Mighty Pups", released during fall 2018, they will release a second brand-new 44-minute movie, titled "Race to the Rescue", during fall 2019! It's currently unknown whether the movie is the same as the recently announced "Ready Race Rescue" movie, although its highly likely. The film will be followed up by specific retail exclusives!

-- "Mighty Pups" wasn’t released to test the waters, it was actually to get more eyeballs on the PAW Patrol franchise with full-length movies. It just happened to be so strong that people like Walmart went in and they wanted to actually get exclusive around it. And what Spin Master are finding is that the cadence of actually putting out a themed movie and then following it up by 13 or 20 actual episodes the following year and blowing out the theme is a good model for them to employ;

Additionally, Spin Master also confirmed that Abby Hatcher has been renewed for a second season, which is slated to premiere in 2020!
