SpongeBob Goes Chic in Wren + Glory’s New Painted Denim Jackets

Wren + Glory announced a cheerful collaboration with Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” featuring hand-painted denim jackets.

SpongeBob SquarePants just got an edgy denim makeover with the help of Wren + Glory.

The brand known for its creative, hand-painted denim jackets debuted a lighthearted collaboration with Nickelodeon featuring the animated character and many of his signature phrases artfully painted on top of denim jackets of varying washes and constructions.

The cheerful collection comes at a time when the world is reeling from the effects of COVID-19, and lockdown orders keep people disjointed from their normal routines. Based in New York City, the brand is in the epicenter of the pandemic—making this collection even more meaningful.

“We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Nickelodeon and bring exclusive hand painted SpongeBob denim jackets to fans,” Wren + Glory founder and head designer Gloria Bijou said in a statement. “Nickelodeon gave us the creative freedom to design pieces that represent our spirit—edgy, quirky and fun.”

Standout one-of-a-kind pieces include a washed pink denim “Fine and Fancy” jacket with a painting of SpongeBob and the words “I’m ready” on the back; a cropped denim jacket with sequined sleeves and bubblegum pink trims with the phrase “Rainbow is my favorite color”; and a denim jacket with an attached gray hoodie and a painting of the full SpongeBob crew on the back.

The collection is now available on the Wren + Glory website, with prices ranging from $395-$425.

Wren + Glory isn’t the only denim brand mixing animated pop culture and fashion. In the past, Levi’s collaborated on everything from a Super Mario Bros-themed collection to a Hello Kitty 45th anniversary range.
