'Drake & Josh' Fan Recreates Show's Intro Using Animal Crossing

HUG ME BROTHA!

Nostalgia warning for Nickelodeon fans of a certain vintage

The very-memorable intro to the mid-2000s Nickelodeon comedy series Drake & Josh has been meticulously remade in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

YouTuber and video editor BrokeDave told GamesRadar it took about a week to put the whole thing together. And honestly, from building the setpieces, staging the scenes, and editing the video, that's pretty darn efficient. Check out the supremely nostalgic finished product below:

The Animal Crossing version of the Drake & Josh intro is largely modeled after the show's season 4 intro, but with some additional scenes that BrokeDave felt would "jog people's memory."

If you look closely, you'll notice most of the video was made using assets available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but BrokeDave says the scene where Josh accidentally hits Oprah Winfrey with his car was particularly challenging and "required some extra green screening." However, he found a way, found a waaa-aay.

This isn't the creator's first rodeo. Now that you're already firmly in this very 2020 nostalgia trip with me, check out BrokeDave's other Animal Crossingified TV show scenes, like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air intro, the Parks and Rec intro, and their personal favorite scene from Drake & Josh where Drake traps them both inside their treehouse.

This isn’t the first tribute to a beloved series recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Shows such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Danny Phantom, The Loud House, Naruto and the US version of The Office have received the Animal Crossing treatment, along with games like Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Fans have made other incredible creations Animal Crossing in addition to tributes. Electronic pop duo Sylvan Esso used the platform to create an entire music video for the new song “Ferris Wheel." Screenwriter Gary Whitta has also used the game to launch late-night talk show Animal Talking from the comfort of his own Animal Crossing: New Horizons island and streamed online on Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube. Nickelodeon has even launches a range of in-game Animal Crossing clothing inspired by some of the network's hit properties, including Avatar, Rugrats, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Danger Force, and Garfield, as well as the iconic Nickelodeon logo!
