Rapid City Rush to Host 'Nickelodeon Night featuring Double Dare' on March 20

RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Rush ice hockey team will be hosting a "Nickelodeon Night featuring Double Dare" on Saturday, March 20th! The game, which will see The Rush take on the Utah Grizzlies, will take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, with puck dropping around 7:05 p.m. MDT. For this game, the Rush will wear specialty Nickelodeon jerseys designed. “Nickelodeon Night featuring Double Dare” is sponsored by Singh Contracting. Rush’s Nickelodeon Night will raise funds for young cancer patient

Proceeds of tickets sold in sections F through N will go towards Jalon Janke's medical expenses. Janke has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Nickelodeon Night at the Rapid City Rush will help with a special cause on Saturday.

The night will feature 11-year-old Jalon Janke, who’s battling osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.

Proceeds of tickets sold in sections F through N will go towards Jalon’s medical expenses.

Jalon will drop the puck for the game against the Utah Grizzlies.

Rapid City Rush President Todd Mackin says that it’s important to be a part of the community in causes like Jalon’s.

“We want to be community partners and Jalon’s from a hockey family. His brother played for the Rushmore Thunder; we try to do everything we can to support our local community in every way possible, and obviously this story is something that caught our hearts and was something we wanted to help with,” Mackin said.

Jalon will drop the puck at 7:05 Saturday night.

BIG TIME RUSH: 11-year-old cancer patient drops puck at Rush game


As part of Nickelodeon night, 11-year-old Jalon Janke dropped the puck Saturday night as the Rush took on the Utah Grizzlies. The Rush even gifted Janke his own hockey stick.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Some additional noise was coming from the Ice Arena Saturday night and it wasn’t just for the Rapid City Rush.

11-year-old Jalon Janke made the puck drop on Nickelodeon Night.

“I’ve liked the Rush my whole life and it’s awesome,” Jalon said afterwards.

Jalon’s been battling osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.
