Netflix’s 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Series Currently Casting Indigenous Actors for Speaking Roles | Casting Call

PoPing AuYeung & Tiffany Mak Casting and hiring a number of Indigenous actors to play various speaking roles in Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series!


Netflix is currently in the middle of producing the first season of the streamer's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, and PoPing AuYeung & Tiffany Mak Casting, the Canadian casting agency for the series is currently searching for Indigenous actors for speaking roles in the upcoming show! Seeking Indigenous Actors

PoPing AuYeung & Tiffany Mak Casting are conducting a search in Vancouver for fresh faces to play various speaking roles. These characters are of North American Indigenous descent. Applicants should be Vancouver-based or willing to work as Vancouver locals and available for dates between February to May 2022. No prior acting experience necessary.

We are looking for the following:

  • Indigenous Females: 8 to 13 years old
  • Indigenous Males: 13 to 15 years old Indigenous Males and Females: 16 to 25 years old Indigenous Males and Females: 50 to 60 years old

If you are interested, please send us a short (< 1 minute) video introducing yourself, stating your name, age (if under 18), and where you are based. Also include ONE recent photo and your contact info (phone/email). For minors, please include parent's/guardian's name (incl. phone/email, if different than the performer's). Cellphone videos in a downloadable format are acceptable.

The casting call is speculated to be for the two-part season finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and confirms that production will be going on until at least May 2022.

Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series reimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback's Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Goi, Roseanne Liang (also a co-executive producer), Jabbar Raisani and Jet Wilkinson direct.

The cast for the series includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko (Azula's brother), Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Lim Kay Siu as Air Nomad monk Gyatso, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao of the Fire Nation, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Yvonne Chapman as Avatar Kyoshi, Maria Zhang as Suki, Tamlyn Tomita as Yukari, and Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran.
