U.S. Midterms | Nick News Breaks | Nickelodeon

And now a Nick News Break. These are the three news stories currently making headlines:

The midterm elections focused on the two chambers of the United States: The House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

Midterms provide voters with the opportunity to change the party in power. 51 seats are needed for control of the Senate, and 218 seats are needed for a majority in the House.

Before election day, there was a 50-50 split in the Senate, and Vice President Harris was the tiebreaker. That's why races in Wisconsin, Nevada, and Pennsylvania were important, including the Senate in Georgia which is set for a run off on December 6, where voters cast a single vote for their candidate of choice.

And an historical race in Florida ended with 25 year old Maxwell Frost becoming the first member of Gen Z to be elected into Congress.
