Paramount Animation wants everyone has a blue Monday today. The studio has just released new character posters and a brand-new clip from its upcoming animated Smurfs movie. The fun summer family pic will be released on Friday, July 18 in theaters nationwide.
Directed by Chris Miller (Puss in Boots, Shrek the Third), the movie features a star-studded voice cast, which includes:

- James Corden as No Name
- Nick Offerman as Ken
- JP Karliak as Gargamel & Razamel
- Daniel Levy as Joel
- Amy Sedaris as Jaunty
- Natasha Lyonne as Mama Poot
- Sandra Oh as Moxie Smurf
- Jimmy Kimmel as Tardigrade
- Octavia Spencer as Asmodius
- Nick Kroll as Sharp Shooter
- Hannah Waddingham as Jezebeth
- Alex Winter as Hefty Smurf
- Maya Erskine as Vanity Smurf
- Billie Lourd as Worry Smurf
- Xolo Maridueña as Brainy Smurf
- Marshmello as Turtle
- Spencer X as Sound Effects Smurf
- Kurt Russell as Ron
- John Goodman as Papa Smurf
Based on the work of beloved Belgian artist Peyo, the movie is written by prolific animation writer Pam Brady (South Park, Team America: World Police, #1 Happy Family USA and the upcoming The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants). The picture is produced by Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty and Ryan Harris.
Production services on Smurfs was handled at Nickelodeon Animation Studio with animation production provided by Cinesite.
The movie’s official synopsis reads:
“When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards Gargamel and his brother Razamel (both brothers are voiced by JP Karliak), Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.”
The new Smurfs movie will be released on July 18.
Smurfs will be accompanied by a new SpongeBob SquarePants short titled "Order Up," directed by Sean Charmatz and written by Charmatz and Paul Tibbitt. In the dialogue-free short, SpongeBob amuses himself by overusing the Krusty Krabb order-up bell—much to the dismay and annoyance of Squidward!
Smurfs will have its world premiere in Brussels on Saturday, June 28 as part of Global Smurfs Day celebrations. It opens in the U.S. on July 18. Tickets are available now.
