MTV News Confirms That UK-Irish Boy Band "One Direction" Will Guest Star In Upcoming New Episode Of "iCarly" Called 'iGot Jungle Worms'

MTV News USA has confirmed on the official MTV USA website, MTV.com, that the rumour that the UK-Irish boyband "One Direction", which consists of band members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, will be guest starring in the upcoming brand new season six episode of "iCarly" called "iGot Jungle Worms" as themselves, where they will also perform their song (single) "What Makes You Beautiful", is true:
One Direction To Appear On 'iCarly'

MTV News exclusive: The British boy band will play themselves on an episode of Miranda Cosgrove's hit Nick show.

"iCarly" is about to feel the effects of a British Invasion. The show has just booked British boy band One Direction to appear on the fifth season of the Miranda Cosgrove-starring show.

The guys will be on set Monday to tape their appearance on the episode, during which they will play themselves and perform "What Makes You Beautiful."

According to a synopsis of the episode, "Carly returns home sick after a trip and discovers that One Direction has accepted an invitation to perform on their web show. Not long after arriving, bandmate Harry becomes sick and we see Carly doting over him. Realizing Harry is playing sick for the attention, they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by telling him Gibby has become their newest bandmember. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal trainer and gives a bratty girl a makeover."

The guys of One Direction, who got their start after appearing on "The X Factor" in 2010, are already superstars in their native U.K., and now it seems they are poised to break Stateside. Their debut album, Up All Night, is set for U.S. release on March 20, and they will be touring with Big Time Rush starting next month [February 2012].

Cosgrove stopped by the MTV News offices recently and teased that there were some big plans in store for season five. "We're just getting started to start the next season, so I'm not really sure what's going to come, because it's sort of a surprise for all of us even," she said. "But I've heard Carly's getting a boyfriend, so that's exciting, and we're gonna have some more musical guests, some big, different musical artists," she said, noting that she'd love to get Katy Perry on the show. "There are a lot of different musical acts that I love, so it's fun whenever we get to have music in an episode."

Michelle Obama made an "iCarly" appearance earlier this month on a special episode that honored military families.

One Direction will appear as themselves in an episode where Cosgrove's character becomes sick after coming home from a trip, reports MTV News.

She finds out that One Direction have agreed to perform on her web show, but band member Harry Styles also becomes sick after their arrival.

One Direction are set to perform 'What Makes You Beautiful' on the show.

The band previously admitted that cracking the US music market is going to be difficult.

Styles said: "America is a massive place and it's going to be hard. Nothing is gonna come easy. A lot of people have tried and failed but we want to break the mould and see what we can do. We'll definitely give it a go."

One Direction to guest on 'iCarly'; hundreds of fans greet band at L.A. airport

One Direction is set to make a guest appearance on the Nickelodeon comedy series "iCarly" as the group is poised to conquer America. All indications are that One Direction is going to become the biggest act from "The X Factor" U.K. to have success in the United States.

So far, "The X Factor" U.K. 2006 winner Leona Lewis has been the only "X Factor" U.K. act who has had major success in America, but One Direction could surpass Lewis in international popularity.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Just like Lewis, One Direction was mentored by "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell when he was a judge on the show. Lewis and One Direction are also signed to Syco Music, the record label that is co-owned by Cowell and Sony Music.

A telling sign that One Direction that is going to be a big hit in America is that even before One Direction has released any music in the U.S., the group was greeted by hundreds of fans when One Direction arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on January 27, 2012. The Daily Mail has published paparazzi photos of One Direction arriving at the airport and the crowd of fans who were there to see One Direction. The group is in L.A. to tape its appearance on "iCarly" on January 30, 2012.

One Direction's "iCarly" guest appearance will reportedly feature the group performing "What Makes You Beautiful," which was a No. 1 hit on the U.K. singles chart in 2011. The song is also nominated for Best British Single at the 2012 Brit Awards, which will be presented on February 21 in London. The winners of the Brit Awards are chosen by voting from the public.

"What Makes You Beautiful" is the first single from One Direction's debut album, "Up All Night." The album was released in U.K. and Ireland in November 2011. As previously reported, the U.S. release for "Up All Night" (on Syco/Columbia Records) is March 20, 2012.

On February 24, 2012, One Direction embarks on its first North American tour, as the opening act for Big Time Rush. But if the early fan reactions to One Direction in the U.S. are any indication, then One Direction is likely to end up being the star attraction on the tour instead of headliner Big Time Rush.

In January 2012, One Direction completed its first headlining U.K. tour, which sold out in minutes. The month-long trek of arenas and large theaters started off getting bad reviews from music critics, but the tour ended with mostly good reviews from critics.

The five members of One Direction are 17-year-old Harry Styles (who turns 18 on February 1, 2012), 19-year-old Zayn Malik, 18-year-old Niall Horan, 20-year-old Louis Tomlinson and 18-year-old Liam Payne. They all originally auditioned for "The X Factor" as solo singers, but they were rejected on the show as solo singers and allowed to continue on "The X Factor" if they formed a group, which was named One Direction.

The reason why One Direction already has a lot of fans in the U.S. and other countries outside of Europe comes down to two words: the Internet. Even though "The X Factor" U.K. is not on U.S. television, there is a lot of footage on the Internet of One Direction during and after the group's "X Factor" U.K. stint. Fans have also been spreading the word about One Direction on Internet social networking sites.

One Direction's Harry Styles promoted to 'lead singer' for US tour

Harry Styles has proved a hit with music execs on One Direction's US tour, reportedly earning himself a promotion to 'lead singer'.

It would seem the same charms that helped Harry snag 32-year-old beauty Caroline Flack also work on music bosses, as sources have claimed that Styles has been singled out as a new front man.

The five-some are currently supporting Big Time Rush on their US tour and have proved just as popular with teenage girls Stateside as they are in the UK.

Harry reportedly caught the eye of host Carly on the Nickelodeon show iCarly and this has perhaps helped cement his new role as lead singer, which music execs claim the band need if they are to make it across the pond.

A source told the Daily Star: 'Columbia music execs are rubbing their hands with glee. It looks like One Direction are going to be absolutely massive in America.

'They decided long ago that Harry is a natural frontman. He's funny, confident and has a great voice.'

However the band, who all auditioned for the X Factor as solo singers before being placed together, are keen for things to remain even.

Harry is also celebrating his 18th birthday today and reportedly has an intimate weekend away with ex Caroline to look forward to when he returns to the UK.

Arnie’s girl says: I’ll be back, Harry Styles

ONE Direction star Harry Styles has been bombarded with offers from American girls offering to help him over his split from cougar Caroline Flack.

Muscling her way to the front of the queue is Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of movie hardman Arnold.

The 22-year-old fell for the pop scamp after watching one of the band's videos. She then blagged her way into the LA studio where the band are filming Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly.

But newly single Harry — who split with Xtra Factor host Caroline before the band headed across the Atlantic to get stuck into their US assault — is wary of her Terminator dad. Harry said: "Katherine's been in the studio watching us. Imagine having Arnie as your dad-in-law."

Then, doing his best Arnie impression, Harry added: "Leave my house if you want to live."

The previous day, Katherine tweeted: "Just watched my first One Direction video with my cousin and @Harry_Styles is a cutie indeed!"

Katherine is not the only American stalking Harry, Zayn, Niall, Louis and Liam. Hundreds of fans were waiting for the band at LAX airport and hundreds more have been camped at their hotel.

Harry said: "We have had to use the hotel service lift. There are girls in the main lift the whole day, just going up and down hoping to bump into us."

The lads have been making a splash in the US despite having not released any music yet.

Almost 100,000 US fans signed a Twitter petition to get the boys to travel to America and pre-orders for their album are through the roof.

They have lead roles in the upcoming iCarly episode alongside the show's star Miranda Cosgrove and soon go on a US tour with boyband Big Time Rush.

So there are plenty more fish in the sea for young Harry — and he's got both sides of the Atlantic to choose from now.

It is apparent that the people behind Nickelodeon sitcom "iCarly" [...] think that Harry Styles stands out because when One Direction made a guest appearance portraying themselves on the show (in an episode titled "iGot Jungle Worms"), he was singled out in the episode's plot. In the episode (whose premiere date is to be announced), Styles develops a crush on Carly (played by Miranda Cosgrove), and he fakes an illness so he could get sympathy and affection from her. The other guys in One Direction then play a joke on Styles and pretend that they may leave him behind because of his "illness." One Direction also performs the hit song "What Makes You Beautiful" in the episode.
