The pilot for "Jinx" starred Holliday Grainger as Lulu and Harry McEntire as Torquil.

The pilot episode was written by Carol Noble, produced by Diane Whitely, and executive produced by Melanie Stokes & former Nickelodeon UK vice president and programming director Debbie McDonald.

Although Nickelodeon commissioned the show, Nickelodeon decided not to pick-up the series, which eventually got made by CBBC.

"JINX" chronicles the life of Lulu Rose Katherine Baker, a teenager whose father has just gotten remarried to a woman who Lulu believes to be the worst stepmother ever. However, her fairy godmother, Cookie, soon comes to Lulu's aid and together they use spells for good, although most situations turn out bad for the people involved, usually due to Cookie's incompetence. The series was based on the "Lulu Baker" trilogy of books written by Fiona Dunbar. The show premiered on CBBC in 2009 and ran for one series (season).
