Nicktoons UK to Premiere 'Takeshi's Castle Thailand' in November 2018

Nicktoons UK & Ireland will invite viewers to Takeshi's Castle when Nickelodeon UK & Ireland's top-rated animation and action channel starts to air its own version of cult competition format this November!

Update (21/11): Nicktoons UK & Ireland started to air Takeshi's Castle on Wednesday 7th November 2018 at 6:00pm, with new episodes continuing to air Wednesdays at 6:00pm! To celebrate, Nicktoons.co.uk has launched the channel's official Takeshi's Castle website, which features more information about the game show, short-form video clips, and a poll asking fans: Which Obstacle Would You Rather Take On - Footloose or Bridge The Gap?

The comedic game show, in HD for the first time, was shot on location in Thailand with all new contestants and has been acquired from distributor, Bellon Entertainment. Nickelodeon's sister channel Comedy Central holds the international rights for the series, where it debuted in autumn 2017 on Comedy Central UK in Autumn 2017 before airing across Comedy Central’s international network of more than 33 branded channels, excluding the US, Canada and Japan.

The format, which features 100 members of the public attempting to tackle a series of crazy obstacles with the ultimate aim of reaching and storming the castle, follows the format of the original TBS hit Takeshi’s Castle, which first aired in Japan in 1986, becoming a cult phenomenon on Challenge TV in the UK in 2002 and elsewhere around the globe.

Hosted by Roman Kemp (Nick Kicks), son of actor and Spandau Ballet member Martin Kemp, Nicktoons' version of Takeshi's Castle is made up of seven themed compilation episodes created especially for the channel, which is aimed at seven- to 11-year-olds. Each episode will transport viewers to MAYHEM of Takeshi's Castle, bringing them the craziest contests, bonkers bad guys and funniest fails from the series!

The Comedy Central UK edition of Takeshi's Castle Thailand is hosted by comedian Jonathan Ross and features both Roman and Martin Kemp alongside Made in Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo and comedians Stephen Bailey and Lauren Pattinson.

The Comedy Central/TBS/Bellon deal for Takeshi’s Castle was brokered by Brad Wood, Director of Acquisitions, Talent and Development, Comedy Central, Melissa Hames, Program & Format Sales, Bellon Entertainment, Megumi Tsukada, TBS Global Business, dentsu X (Thailand) and Heliconia.
